This is great Han! I've played this game about 15 times and pretty much thought I'd heard every line of dialogue.

Probably it has been already posted here, but it reminded me how throughout Mass Effect, dialogue can vary from immaturely humorous, to philosophically deep, to poetically beautiful and everything in-between.

 

By the time I first played ME, I had just finished Philosophy II on college. We had a brief introduction to Technorealism and Technocriticism, disciplines that discuss our relationship with technology, and how it may limit people or allow certain parties to exert control over the society. If you are going to college, I definitely recommend looking for this. Part of it is summarized by Sovereign in Virmire.

 

Sovereign: "By using our technology, your society develops through the paths we desire. You exist because we allow it and you will end because we demand it."

 

In ME2, Legion makes nods to that

 

Shepard: "What future are the Geth trying to build?"

Legion: "Ours."

 

Meaning, "you organics definitely f*cked things up by dabbling into unknown tech. We aim to avoid that." Later, he will explain this point of view more politely

 

 

 

Legion mastered the art of bluntly saying some pretty weird stuff that, if you stop for just a nanosecond and think, make a lot of sense:

 

Legion: "Human history is a litany of bloodshed over different ideals of rulership and afterlife."

 

 

 

I also loved to see Thane's literal quotation from Leviathan (Thomas Hobbes' work). This is not something you'll see in your average videogame.

 

Thane: "And when all the world is overcharged with inhabitants, then the last remedy of all is Warre, that provideth for every man, by victory or death."

Unnamed krogan in Zakera Ward: "Uhg! Asari are so squishy... Where are you supposed to get a decent grip?"

EDI (infamously): "Probing Uranus" (I noticed that, depending on how you read the in-game description for Uranus (and possibly for Neptune), it may also be quite funny. I wonder if it is intentional...)

 

 

Shepard (addressing to Adm Mikhayilovich): "Men of limited vision said the same thing about early tanks and submarines."

 

 

Shepard (addressing to the Terra Firma guy): "Cram your honour! What's this riot about?"

 

 

Liara's dad: "Welcome back, babe. Can I get you anything? Sorry, no sex. Just cleaned the bar."
