I still think she was a self-righteous nag who sold out by endorsing a system that oppressed not only her, but her own damn son.

She finally got her act in gear when Rhys's life was directly threatened, but it should never have taken that long.

Of course, Rhys is also annoying. The man is damn near forty, and he can't make a decision to save his life. I'm surprised he doesn't starve to death while trying to choose between chicken and fish.

Don't screw, don't get pregnant, and you won't get your baby taken away.

It's that simple.

Maybe the circles should have been sexually segregated.

Not far from where I grew up, there were 2 cloisters (one for men and one for women) a few centuries ago. When the cloisters were investigated, they found a tunnel between the two cloisters. In the tunnel, they found dozens of children-skeletons. If you're wondering what that means:

The men and women met in the tunnels, had sex, killed the unwanted babies and left the corpses to rot in the tunnel.

I know it's a harsh story and maybe it's not overly appropriate to mention this in a forum for a video game (after all, discussing here should be fun), but your post reminded me of the story and I felt like sharing it, because, well, it's not that simple.

Good story.

I liked her.
She seemed to be one of the sanest and most grounded of idividuals in Thedas.

I LOVED Wynne.  She wasn't a stereotypical wizened gentle, nurturing maternal figure.  She had bite, zest, fight, and zeal to her.  She'd no sooner slap you upside the head with her staff than praise you.  And, moreover, it is all too rare to have an older woman as main cast in games.  Supporting third string or NPCs, sure, but not actual main first string cast, and not without being the typical kindly gentle mom archetype.  It is also one of the many reasons why I love Kreia from SWTOR2 as well.  We don't get enough of these types. :)

I thought she was a good character overall. I can understand why so many dislike her or found her irritating in Origins, probably because they were romancing someone and Wynne sure likes to talk about what's right. I never had that problem as I didn't romance Morrigan or Leliana.

As a person and a mage, she tried to do what she can for the mages, I'm sure after her experience with Aneirin, she became a good mentor and helped a lot of mages in her lifetime. It's honestly not surprising that she won't be respected by many whereas idiots like Anders get lots of attention, that's how the world works unfortunately.

As some others said, she is one of the few sane people in Thedas and totally deserving the Spirit of Faith's power. The fact that the spirit wasn't corrupted showed the good inside of her. My character always respected her, so did I. Sad for her death but not sad for how she died, as she seemed content with it.

I did love her interactions with Sten and Oghren, and her talks with Zevran tended to be hilarious.

I like the fact that she was a complete and utter b**** when she was younger.

I wonder how much the faith spirit influenced her.

I like you. After reading Asunder last month I actually ended up like Wynne's character a good deal. With that said, I also think she pretty much blinded herself to the reality of what mages were going through due to the freedom she herself had. Everything she was trying to accomplish in Asunder really was too little, too late.

I also have a similar opinion of Rhys. I thought he was a bit too much of coward unwilling to truly take up the cause or even properly defend himself until driven into a corner.

He's a weakling, he didn't even have the stones to kill Adrian, hopefully we'll be able to rectify his mistake.

Im sure that killing first enchanter would be go without consequences. ;)

I wonder how many peoples who talk that he should kill her would do that on his place when they would recive real consequences.

hmm, could you kill your closest friend?

It's understandable that he didn't end her life. It doesn't make him a weakling, it makes him a believable character with genuine emotions and feelings.

Old and experienced enough to be wise enough to be worth listening to. Morally secure and insightful enough to reliably stable and understand she finds things moral or not. Confident enough in her own experience and knowledge that her assessments can bleed over and blind her to her own biases or the validity of other viewpoints and concerns.

Worthy of consideration, but not as an indisputable authority figure. Sometimes it's worth letting other people be wrong, and sometimes she's simply wrong. Her interests are not the interests of everyone else, and so what's good for her and the Circle isn't necessarily what's good for anyone else.

I may be the only person who appreciates her addressing the Warden's romance directly, including raising concerns about its impacts.

I liked Wynne.I mean sure she was sometimes annoying with the old and preachy.

But she wasn't that bad , well unless you were Morrigan .

She tried to make the best with what she had , in the Circle she became a teacher , she went to Ostagar , then fought the Blight.

Every little bit of freedom she had she fight for it.

And once she gained that freedom , she got close to the Divine to improve life for mages.

I thought her conversation in Origins with Morrigan was interesting. It gave me a lot of insight of pro and anti Circle system.

I liked that aspect of her as well.

In Morrigan's case, she is also right. People who have their Warden romancing Morrigan may not want to hear another character telling them that Morrigan is untrustworthy, but Wynne is right. "She will use you for her own ends."

He outright renounces their friendship, he hates her now.

I liked Wynne. My warden sure as heck didn't agree with everything she said but she was trying to do good works and for the most part her actions benefited others more then they hurt if we don't count all the people my Warden killed and really they would have died Wynne or no Wynne. Where they sort of didn't match up is my Warden was sort of. "Try to trap me in that cage again and blood is going to flow."

I agree. My warden was never going back to the cage. Wilhelm had the right idea as well leave that place and never come back.

She was my trusty healer, but I didn't like her much.

She always gave me the grandma vibes.

I already have two, I don't need another.

So, all those feelings he had suddenly disappeared? He may hate her now for what she did, but to kill her? It wasn't his place to bring justice to what happened, she was his friend. Saying he hates her is one thing, but his love for her didn't vanish in that instance.

Anyway, it'd be great to go to where Wynne was buried, or perhaps meet the Spirit of Faith in Inquisition.

Wonder if there is a correlation between player age and disliking her "sage" advice.
