What do I want in Fallout 4? I have not given it much thought because I trully dont expect much of an improvement in the game other than visuals because Gameplay and setting for Fallout series is somehow fixed. There are just small details that can bemodified or improved. But for the start, I found a mod on nexus that allowed you to choose a weapon as you signature gun and it would level up wih you. It was a cool innovation. I would like to see that in fallout 4.

Much more in depth side companions so that I care about them.

Better facial graphics.

For the love of all that is holy get rid of the pip boy interior maps which range from frustrating to totally useless.

Loved Fallout New Vegas and still play it.

The biggest problem I had with that game was it's stability, so for FO4 let's have a game that doesn't crash every other time you play it.

I know it's going to be amazing and I'm excited about the possibility of a multi player part.

I would like to travel outside the Continental US to other former nation states, like China.

There has to be some form of cross oceanic trade/travel right?

Sorry, yeah, this is probably too long, but what the hell! Just some random thoughts. Its in no way representative of everything I liked or didn’t like about FO3/NV, or even want improved for FO Next.

Keeps (In no particular order):

• Crafting interface variety
   -Survival: Ovens, Hotplates, Campfires
   -Reloading bench
   -Workbench
• Reloading and crafting hand loaded ammo.
• The greatly improved crafting mechanics of NV over FO3.
• Companions (Much improved, but sure we can do better).
• Weapon variety.
• Weapon mods.
• Open backstory for main character and blank slate that allows, as someone said above, the player to experience the world new as the PC does.
• Fantastic DLCs that have their own story arc.
• VATS.
• Clickable 1st and 3rd person.
• Factioning.
• Levelling and Skill upgrades.
• Massive amounts of useful Perks.
• Anti-Materiel Rifles.
• 1911s.
• Bowie Knives.
• Nuka Nades, MFC Clusters and Satchel Charges.
• Sense of the Old World and loss (primarily FO3 and NV DLCs) felt throughout game.
• Post WWII cultural influence.
• Forbidding environments/enemies.
• Equipment degredation mechanic.
• Inventory management and Pip-Boy (Better maps is a great call).
• GECK.
• Exploration.
• Hardcore mode.

Wants: (definitely in no particular order):

• More reusable Chemistry Sets.
• Water Purifiers (craftable and purchaseable).
• Even more and varied weapon inventory. (NV did great, but lets do way better...I could go on for days, but I won’t)
• .30-06 ammo (for appropriate weapons [i.e. M1s and BARs]) added to the FO universe.
• .45 ACP ammo (and appropriate weapons) available in main game.
• .410 ammo (and appropriate weapons) added to the FO universe.
• Claymore Mines.
• Destructible environments.

• Place-able Tac Nukes that require codes or keys to detonate. Must have a higher yield than Fat Man/Mini-Nukes, but be extraordinarily rare.
• More variety of armor/clothing.
• More armor accessories (holsters, leg rigs, tac vests, etc)
• Better “western” wear and cowboy hats.
• More “enchanted” armor/accessories.
• More ways to augment carry capacity.
• Even more variety of useful crafting recipes.
• Full functioning third person combat cam.
• Full zoom out for third person (Available in a couple of great mods where you can zoom from just over the should to virtually isometric).
• Gun parts in levelled inventories and drops which allows you…
• The ability to build your own guns.
• Gunsmithing perk, better yet - a true skill which goes far beyond Repair, that allows only those who take it, or put points into it, to build guns or dramatically improve them (with approriate parts), otherwise you’re just maintaining them for basic operation; Non-Smiths should have to pay big caps for useful improvements (that's the cost of pacifism :P).
• A Gunsmith’s bench which is only as useful as your skill allows, and is the only place to build guns and apply mods.
• More, and more useful, weapon mods.
• Dramatically improve weapon sounds for realism and visceral effect. Way too many unsatisfactory popcorn fart sound FX. I want to feel the weapon firing, hear the crack of bullets flying overhead, and the impact of rounds.
• Better explosive FX. Some are good, many are not.
• If we have to have gimmick weapons make their usefulness proportional to their weight, not just toss aways because a rifle that weighs half, does the same or more DAM/DPS.
• A Dual wielding mechanic (pistols and one handed melee weapons—or a pistol and a combat knife).
• Better,and more, fighting axes/hatchets.
• Gun Runners or like organizations actually being worth the effort to break into.
• The ability to work for, or eventually take over, Gun Runners operations (or whatever organization are in the region).
• The ability to work for, or eventually take over, Crimson Caravan operations (or whatever organizations that are in the region).
• Real Gun Runners caravans (same)
• Real Crimson Caravan…caravans (same).
• More merchants and a game-wide functioning economy.
• Improve the Barter perk, or add a merchant perk or skill which allows the PC the…
• Ability to become a merchant with possibility to buy in bulk at wholesale, and set prices, with many random encounters with buyers who will compare pricing and tell you they can do better if they can.
• More Mutants (Good guys and Bad guys).
• No write-off factions (well except for Fiends, they’re good for loot and target practice).
• Backpacks.
• Ability to craft backpacks/armor.
• Sprinting at the cost of APs.
• Keep VATS, and refine it further (especially for melee and explosives), but expanded pause combat to include tactical menu for companions (a bit of a stretch but I’d still like to see it).
• More, and better kill scenes.
• More quality control and bug checking. Skyrim was a hell of an improvement for Bethesda. Let’s do even better.
• More cheesy 50’s sci-fi weirdness.
• More art deco in the décor palette.
• More areas that are well-preserved.
• Improved GECK.

Really, all I want for FO4 is a damn announcement.

TL;DR: Keep the good, nix the bad, and gives us even MOAR, so we can play this game for years. :wizard:

Hmm I liked the basic idea of FO3s story far more then what NV had to offer. The idea of trying to purify a body of water, so the inhabitants of the DC are could try to make a life for themselves was in my opinion one of the most original story's I have seen used in a game.

What. The story of FO3 was just a crappy simple rehash of FO1+2 with this horrible daddy issue that was done horribly.

I played FO 1&2 after I played 3. So for me FO 3 was my introduction to the series I love FO 1&2 but I think 3 is far more interesting. Other then the Master in FO 1 there were no characters that really left a impression on me, you can flame me if you want but I thought John Henry Eden was way cooler then the Master(not that he wasn't a bad ass character) also the story of survival in the Capital Wastland just stuck with me more than Fallout 1&2s story.

A return to how the gameplay and camera was in the originals?

Well at least I've got Wasteland 2 for that.

V.A.T.S is doing as always did. So no compliments there.

But Devs can make aiming and shooting somewhat better for the god's sake. Maybe I want to finish the game first person and without V.A.T.S!

I tried playing a 3rd person without VATS using nothing but Hunting Rifles and other kinds of high-precision weapons.

The hurt was real.

oh and one more thing which they need to take into account. For god`s sake use different body and face models for different female characters. So many NPC`s just look alike.

Well I thought of some more after my first post after replaying.

  • More mind fuckery. I loved it when you enter an area and just have no idea what you're seeing.
  • Morally gray choices. While NV did have at times there were way too many points where it was good vs evil.
  • Kill the karma system and improve the reputation system having different groups react differently to your presence. If you've done lot's of bad stuff to a group another is allied with they should act hostile and vice versa.
  • More vault atrocities. The vaults are sick twisted abominations and I want to see more of it.

     I want to see this:

  • Better and more realistic facial expressions/animations.
  • More fleshed out and interesting storyline.
  • Npcs that don't act like robots and feels lifeless.
  • Guns that feels like guns heavy and powerful and don't shoot pewpewpew.
  • More severe consquenses for bad acts like blowing up Megaton, sending a few dumb regulators is not enough though i have to say  seeing Moira again was close to it.
  • Fire Inon Zur and hire back Mark Morgan pls.
  • Moooar perks, i like them
  • Let me join the bad guys.
  • Make supposedly powerful enemies like Deathclaws tough and not pathetic like F3.
  • Pls more Gaaaaaaaaaaary vault like events scared the sh!t outta me and i liked.
  • Make the world react different  to good vs evil characters also maybe make like evil can initimidate people for information and very good characters gets a bonus to speech check involving convincing npcs, make it matter.
  • flesh out the dialogues and not a few sentences from everybody
  • Make every follower useful in their own way and not through Invinicble fawkes, dogmeat and Gusty (whataever name was) glitches and involve them more in your story, make use of them.

Yeah, good one:

We can already direct companions to repair items (its BS you have to pay a companion for it though), craft items, or make ammo. We ought to be able to direct companions to pick locks (and pockets), lay mines, hack terminals, scrounge needed items, take out specific targets, etc.

Companions also need far better combat AI....and pathing.  A combat radio, or something like it, that allows you to recall them from wherever you left them, would be useful as well.

A new graphics engine. Of course, that never changes.
