WOT only says pain/suffering makes BM more potent, no?

 No.

Pain and suffering and death weaken the veil by default. When magic is also involved it weakens the veil a lot. But so does blasting someone in the face with a fireball, so magical warfare is dangerous for the veil. Weakened veil however = better magic.

I always wondered how, in DA:O and DA2, the maleficarium don't have their HP down just like warden/hawke does with blood magic. Come on, they constantly cast hemorrhage and costly spells and they don't even break a sweat or sacrifice their companions! Maleficarium should be powerful, but not invincible, their hp should get a good beating.

I haven't read the comics, so I'm going to ask: is dragonfire a BM general spell? I thought it was related to Theirin's blood, which contains dragon blood. In this case it woudn't be a spell most blood mages could use.

To be fair it's just fire. Any mage can use fire.

Unless they use your blood to power their spells. To be fair if I was a mage I'd do it all the time, blast my enemies with mana based magic and hurt them, then draw their blood from their wounds for further combat. Grave robber advanced version is very similar but not quite.

Most fire spells don't just reduce an entire group of attacking qunari to bones.

Titus' words in that pic lead me to believe otherwise, and eluvianix stated that it's a spell powered by Theirin blood. Which contains dragon blood.
Furthermore, why would they call it 'dragonfire' if it's a normal fire spell?

There is no ''most'' or ''some'' here there is just fire and how you handle it. The more powerful the mage the more powerful is their fire magic. What you do with the fire in terms of shape, form, power, and other specifics is up to the mage imagination.

Yeah, Theirin blood could grant him a magic boost why not?

Fireball, Flameblast, Flamewall, Dragonfire etc. I think it's just a nickname for a specific use of fire.

Unless you can find another example of mage able to doing what Titus did without Theirin blood, I'll stick with the latter explanation.

Not really.  Most fire is directed in a general direction or hurled as a ball.  Dragonfire comes out of his eyes and specifically targets the charging qunari and reduces them to ash in seconds.  Even the Firestorm used by Adrian in Asunder didn't reduce the demons to ash.

I see nothing special about Titus spell in the first place, all I see in that picture is him using fire, I've seen plenty mages using fire.

So Titus is awesome at fire magic.. and?

Methinks you are a bit in denial. It was a spell that required Theirin blood, and it also vaporized a host of Qunari in seconds.

There's no proof a mage using normal blood or mana to fuel fire spells can achieve that power.
And Titus specified that 'dragonfire' it's a power that 'they' could have (either the Theirin or the qunari, since there are theories in the comics that qunari are related in some ways to dragons), so it seems to me that it'a an unique ability/spell.

There is nothing special about vaporizing people with fire as a mage!

Have you ever see a mage reducing qunari (or even humans or elves) to bones with their fire spells?

Where did you vaporize people with fire in a DA game?

It's not even that special, what power? People cast storm of the century that can obliterate a small village, here's just a guy torching a few Qunari.

It's not that Titus is awesome. It's an abilities granted by the theirin blood.

Ask the Art department and/or our mage wasn't strong enough in fire magic, no wonder btw, one being a circle mage and the other one being an apostate with only education gained from apostate dad.

I don't see the difference between that ability and normal flame magic. All I can see is therein blood giving him more spellpower.

Fire spells aren't generally that powerful. By a long shot. Titus reduces them in bones in seconds.
It's not that this spell is the most powerful spell ever. The fact is that this spell is far more powerful than any other fire spells seen so far, and it seems based on the dragon-mixed blood of the theirin, and not something a normal mage/blood mage can achieve.

Fair point. in fact, I was using grave robber advanced yesterday, it's a fun spell, shame on the long cooldown.

Even though I haven't seen any enemies using it.

The only spell that I think could even come close to that was maybe Adrian's Inferno spell, which did produce a similar effect.

Fire spells are not some kind of entity, there is no ''fire spells'', there is a mage and their ability. The stronger the mage the stronger the spells, the more practice the mage has the better the spellcasting. Mages have no limits, it's all up to their potential and training.
