Nothing is as immersion-breaking to me as an 8-year-old with a baritone/really bad falsetto. Like, the two kids in the Evelina part of On the Loose? The small one had a deeper voice than the one with the fuzz-stache. It's always the little stuff that seems like the most egregious to me, you know?
Please lord get actual child voices

Dear god, I do not want them wasting time trying to corral eight year olds into a recording studio.

All I mean is, get like a woman who does child voices than some deep-voiced dude to do a falsetto. Or a slightly less contralto woman, if they're already using a female VA. It's semi-standard to do that anyways, since female voices change less through puberty. And it doesn't have to be a bunch of 8-year-olds. One boy, one girl. That's what they've been doing anyways.

There are plenty of adults who can do great child voices.

Honestly, I never even noticed they didn't use actual children's voices. Connor was possessed, so it made sense that he sounded like that.

The child voices in DA:O sounded good, the ones in DA2 were weird and unintentionally hilarious.

Have you actually heard children VO? It is the worse thing ever, when kids are given lines they have no idea how to act in the slightest and go all monotone like. Adults with the range can do it wonderfully, and sound better then any child.

Well, children have no empathy. It shouldn't surprise anyone that they can't act. It's not their fault though, empathy comes later in mental development.

That was actually made by a 11-year old at the time I believe. Great work

Nope. All child voices will be performed by Gilbert Gottfried speaking in falsetto. Just got the news from Allan on Twitter, so excited.

This is also acceptable, because if you're gonna give 'em adult-sounding voices, you don't want to half-ass it.

yeah. having real children do the voices of bart and lisa simpson has helped that show immensely.
...
what? the voice "actor" for bart simpson is a 56 year old woman? the woman who voices lisa is ~50?
june foray is almost 100 years old, isn't she? for most of her career she played characters as young as cindy lou who and as old as the generic granny character in... whatever.

You seem to have missed that my main quibble was the fact that all the kids in DA2 were BARITONES.

i responded to your entire post rather than taking just a piece, especially as your "quibble" seemed hyperbolic.
