I hate to admit it but... MLP

Nothing to hate its a little kids show despite the fandom's teen-adults audience ofc they're going to have morals.

Because they don't say the lesson they don't have them?

I think it's a good thing they don't tell your kids what they are supposed to learn from it.

Did Little Red Riding Hood end with "..and that's why you don't go into the woods alone or listen to strangers, because you will get raped."?

And yeah, that was the lesson of that story.

Any reason why for why cartoons now are dumber and don't help kids learn about what's important?

Well you see Ridwan, there is a war going on, and our civilization's culture shapers have been overtaken by the aggressor.

You gotta remember in the 80's (pretty much before the SImpsons), network executives were 100% sure that cartoons were for kids, really young kids. So everything had to be brightly colored and obvious. Some writers still snuck in some adult themes, references and subtext (Adventure Time still does this) - those shows were enjoyed by young and old. Now some cartoons attempt sophistication so they're a bit less obvious.

I rewatched a few episodes of the 90s X-Men cartoon and, man, that show was really dark for a kids' show.

I don't care about its audience. I hate to admit it because I actually watched enough to know it teaches life lessons. As do a lot of shows actually. Even if it's not outright.

So when ever I see a modern cartoon, it's really about nothing.

Some have hints of morality/ethics, but don't go full blast. Eternal Phoenix's mention of the Regular Show is a fair example. The first season generally boiled down to the 2 main characters screwing around, making a mistake, and spending the rest of the episode trying to fix it. There are moral bits in the later seasons, though. Same story for adventure time. Adventure Time is better if you're looking for goofiness and weird stuff. They know how to make you laugh and throw in trippy nonsense. Regular Show is more of a Sit Com in the way Family Guy and a few Adult Swim shows were built. If you're looking for a show that demonstrates and handles ethical issues in a contemporary and tasteful way, MLP is my suggestion. Legend of Korra isn't super-heavy on morals, but it does take its storyline/theming/characters more seriously in comparison to the current competition.

I rewatched a few episodes of the 90s X-Men cartoon and, man, that show was really dark for a kids' show.

Yep. A bit like Batman: The Animated Series, it did a good job of sticking to the source material and overall vibe of the original. X-men itself has plenty of moral dillemas, but I haven't kept up on the newer animated versions.

I didn't watch the original either. Girls watched the ponies while us boys watched He-Man.

I'd happy to answer that, but it's a block of text I'd rather toss in here.

Suffice it to say, MLP's your best shot if that's specifically what you're looking for. If the setting is a barrier, I can say with strong certainty you'll be missing out.

We still have this bunch (though they're not as popular as in 20th century):

Their peak was definitely in the days of yesteryear. Haven't heard much of them since.

OP clearly does not watch anime.

Based on his examples, I figured he meant western-styled Cartoons.

What are you talking about? There are many shows today that include moral lessons. "Avatar: The Last Airbender" is one such example and, incidentally, it's also a great show. Perhaps you mean to say there aren't as many as there were before?

The thing with Nostalgia is we only remember the good shows that had moral fibre and were actually good. For every MLP:FiM or Game of Thrones there are a hundred more obscure, forgettable tv shows that are being aired most of which cant be called upon because they are so non-noteworthy.

Also most shows with a moral get shot down if something they preach gets in the way of their bottom line. Look at Wall-E. Its a story about how we destroyed the planet and how we're floating blobs in space due to overconsumption and there was a huge whiplash from corporations trying to convince kids that it was evil and they should keep spending money and buy stuff.

Buddhist cartoons and anime had good moral lessons in them. Also Those with Good Samurai...

Now they're next to extincted. New trend is being super cool or being badass.
