Issue with replacing mesh/textures in ME3

So I've been working on replacing Kaidan's model in ME3 with Admiral Hackett.

I think I've transferred Hackett's head mesh everywhere it needs to be, and have started switching the textures in.
Anyway when I extract Hackett's textures (scalp and face - spec, diff and norm) they extract okay, but importing them with the Easy > Add Biggest Image gives this error message

unless I drop the textures into photoshop and save them in the .dds format required (DTX1 for diff and spec, VU 8.8 for norm).
If I import those saved textures I end up with this result:

I'm really on my last nerve at this point, no idea what I'm doing wrong, so I don't suppose anyone would be able to assist?
I would have asked on the me3explorer forum but it appears to be down.
