The Chantries priests are far from being innocent. They're part of the problem, not the solution so I refuse to call them innocent.

So let me get this straight: Stacey the Sister, who has never done anything in the Chantry except pray to the Maker, is part of the problem and just as guilty as people like Alrik?

None of that makes sense to me.

If someone wants a "solution" so much, mass bombing wouldn't be the best way to demonstrate it. Looks like adding more to the problem to me. Making it harder for whoever comes afterwards to come up with a solution to THAT. It's adding complexity to the issue. Not any answers.

Well, if someone is possessed by a spirit/demon of 'justice', and they think everything they do is just because of the fact that they are possessed by said spirit/demon, then they would most likely ignore any form of logical reasoning .

Because he is part of the problem, just like Elthina whom you called a monster. He helped continue this little cycle of hatred these groups have for each other. Plus he sacrificed an entire Circle of the people he is trying to help to send a message. That's monstrous no matter how you slice it.

Again, mages started the war by abolishing the Circle of Magi. That's akin to the colonies signing the Declaration of Independence, which officially started the American Revolutionary War. Now as to unofficially started it, that argument goes way back to before even Tevinter since everything that has happened is a cycle of hatred.

How is he part of the problem? He has witnessed the damage that the Chantry has caused to his people. He also has personal experience dealing with them. His former boyfriend, Karl, was illegally made tranquil and Anders was forced to put him out of his own misery. When you go to the gallows you can hear mages cry out in pain while getting lashes from their templar jailers. They threaten  mages  with 40 lashes if they speak with anyone. The mages were being treated like crap and I'm suppose view Anders as this antagonistic monster at the end? No I can't do that. Elthina was the true monster because she had the power to stop the abuse that was going on in the circle... she had the power to stop Meredith from taking over the city... SHE DID NOTHING!

I don't expect someone like Anders to understand my line of reasoning. I'm speaking more to other players who support Anders. I understand liking Anders and wanting to help him. I don't understand actually supporting him. lol. If I was his friend (or fan, if you will), I'd want a cure for him. Not encourage his insane politics.

Who is Stacey? I don't remember coming across her.  Anyhow what about Keili from Origin?  All of the indoctrination that the chantry has inflicted on her caused her to have Suicidal ideation. She almost wants the Templars to kill her for being who she is... a mage.

He is part of the problem because he has proved every bad thing the Chantry says about mages right by destroying a civilian target in the middle of a large city, killing who knows how many innocent people.

No, you're supposed to view it in an unbiased perspective. What Meredith was doing was bad, but what Anders did was also bad.

Elthina was stopping Meredith from killing all the mages by refusing to condone a RoA. That's why Anders takes her out. He knows with nobody in the way, Meredith will attack the Circle. Every mage's blood that is on her hands are also on Ander's.

*snip*

Stacey is a made up name for Random Chantry Sister Number whatever.

And just as many people in Tevinter for example may feel the same way, but reversed.

Since joining the Chantry means implicitly supporting all its practices, yes, Stacey is part of the problem.

Alrik's actions weren't validated by the Chantry, but the Chantry is still guilty of a ) fostering an environment that allowed Alrik to do what he done did and b ) turning a blind eye to what Alrik done did.

If Sister Stacey really cared about the injustices perpetrated by the Chantry, she is free to leave at any time.

I don't know if it's all due to the Chantry. She could be experiencing things (demons in dreams, for example), but doesn't know how to handle it. Similar to Feynriel, but probably not as intense. Or maybe she can handle it, but she's just sick of it. Like she can't relax. Always vigilant.

Not everything is due to outside teachings and religion. The life of some mages seems to be a pain in the ass. It's not supposed to be all fun and games, like it is to us players in the real world.

Congratulations. You have just accused everyone in the real; world of the exact same thing.

Comments like this sicken me. That's like saying citizens of nations under a dictator are responsible for the atrocities of said dictators.

Orana from DA II, she is the living proof of the Mages' ''Innocence'' and why they should all be free.

Yes it's all caused by the Chantry. she says this “Magic is a curse, and I pray every day for forgiveness from the Maker.”

Ad when you play as a mage and just as you're about to undergo the Harrowing Knight-Commander Greagoir quotes this:

"Magic exists to serve man, and never to rule over him. Thus spoke the prophet Andraste as she cast down the Tevinter Imperium, ruled by mages who had brought the world to the edge of ruin. Your magic is a gift, but it's also a curse, for demons of the dream realm - the Fade - are drawn to you, and seek to use you as a gateway into this world."

Templars and priests likes the remind you, as a mage, that you were born with a curse.

Interesting choice. Jowan's never been a companion (Sort of) so I would prefer him before Varric and Anders.

I hope so too, but she is more likely dead or enslaved AGAIN, unless Hawke managed to get her some shelter before 'mysteriously' vanishing .

I know what the Chantry says, but I'm saying if she's actually experiencing something like a curse, then it doesn't matter if the Chantry says it or not. She might be saying it for a real discomfort she has. Where the Chantry is going wrong is not helping her enough. Not that they're making her aware of the problem.

Oh god. If I laugh any harder I'll throw up.

POINT THE FIRST: Chantry sisters are in no way living under a dictatorship. You seem to have confused them with the real victims, ie, mages.

POINT THE SECOND: People can't help being born into fascist countries, and they rarely, if ever, have the power to leave by legitimate means. By contrast, becoming a member of the Chantry's clergy is totally optional and you can quit whenever you damn well please. Sebastian quits and re-enters the order multiple times.

POINT THE THIRD: Not only do Chantry sisters not suffer. They explicitly benefit from being members of the Chantry. By rising through its ranks, they can obtain power that would otherwise be unavailable to them in any other faction. There is literally no other organisation in all of Thedas that works this way for anybody.

So, your hypothetical Sister Stacey can go suck a hypothetical lemon.

You intentionally forgot that Gregoir called is also a gift. Magic is a double-edged sword: it has both advantages and disadvantages.
How would you call the fact that mages are all their lives under the threat of demons, who can torment them in their sleep (up to the point, in extreme cases, where they can't event sleep)? A walk in the beach?
