Mhmmm, what normies are they slaughtering currently, pray tell?
The qunari invaders? The eleven invaders who reached Val Royeaux and sacked it?

it certainly would make this thread much more bearable
Yes! Let's all get high and blow the nearest *insert religion name* building, because they are oppressing someone or something or someone.

Currently. I was speaking of right now.
Those were Exalted Marches that came in response to invasion by the Qunari and elves who were on Val Roy's doorstep. Those were not unprovoked.

I stole cake from a nun's bake sale once.
That's enough rebellion for me. I still feel guilty ![]()

Is it wrong to kill people that are 'invading' your home/city/country ?

Exactly.
um i think you are referring more to the qunari in your statement than the chantry... yes the goal is to spread the chant of light through the world, but their goal is not through militaristic action... the only sort of military they had is for going against mages, not all of thedas
Except it's not, because they've called Exalted Marches against both the Dalish and the Qunari, and they will contemplate an Exalted March against Orzammar if you help Brother Burkel to establish a Chantry there in DA:O.
Also, in The Stolen Throne, the Chantry in Ferelden supported the Orlesian occupation, because Orlais is the seat of the empire and the expansionist goals of the Chantry are inextricably entwined with the expansionist goals of Orlais.
and technically those were not the chantry's armies... they just said hey we need to kill them and basically petitioned countries to go do it for them.... its like the crusades, ordained by the catholic church, but fought by kingdoms of man.
they are not blameless, but the exalted marches came in response to bigger events... they dont just declare exalted marches when they feel like it... as for the whole orlais occupation, the chantry was weak in ferelden, and strong in orlais... them supporting a faction that would increase their influence is not wrong in the eyes of the church

Hell, even the Exalted Marches on Tevinter were provoked, though not through violence. Exalted Marches seems to be a response to events, and never the initation.
Brilliantly and eloquently put, you have convinced me.
I'm glad to hear that. Thank the maker for my high speechcraft skills.
implying I agree with everything the Chantry does
but go ahead with acting aggressive towards everyone
You have never seen aggression from me.

True, Exalted Marches are only called in after something happens. Though, I still think the one on Tevinter was kinda dumb lol, but otherwise I agree with your points.

"If a murderer isn't murdering RIGHT THIS MINUTE, then he is totally innocent and should be absolved of all previous murders."
Wut.

You sound like Javiik, when Shepard says to the Asari chick that they haven't seen him (Javik) angry, and he says "Neither have you, Commanda''

Dumb? They had just broken away from the Chantry, insulted the Divine, established their own Chantry in direct opposistion to the original Chantry. I'd say that it was one of the more sound ones. At elast from the Chantry's own side. Though for the peasants who joined in the fun... Yeah, then it was dumb.

once again the panda is still wearing the blindfold

Well, while we are at it, let's go out and kill all the Dalish that attacked their way through Val Royeaux. Let's also go for the Qunari as well for the whole Rivain debacle. Oh, and let's not forget Tevinter. The magisters brought back the Taint, so therefore let's go kill all the Tevinter people.

Not to mention the clear intent to return the magisters to power. With a Mage Divine and changing the Chant to say mages serve man by ruling, that was bound to alarm Tevinter's neighbours.

If there's anyone to get mad at, it's the writers. They love creating a perfect storm of problems, don't they?
I want justice for both mages and elves, for example, but blowing things up probably isn't going to solve anything. I think all of these factions need to stay from each other. Take a ****** time out already. Isolation is the answer. Not conquests and rebellions.

How did that one happen again?

The Imperial Chantry basically wanted to allow mages to take part in the government again, which of course p*ssed of the White Divine.

Assuming the Dalish or the Tevinter magisters did either of those things, and the Chantry has no evidence for either. And no, Corypheus doesn't count, the Chantry doesn't know he even exists.
I despise the Qunari, but I'm not going to fault them for behaving in the exact same way the Chantry does. I don't feel sorry for bullies when they get beaten up by newer, stronger bullies.

Yea that does sound a bit dumb, but it is Tevinter lol
