Erm, slavery is also an idea, it's a certain mindset.
One you won't easily get rid of either. To this day.
But you can stop the actions.
Focus on action and you can pull off a lot, I think. Attacking abstract things like "religion" is like punching the wind though.
"You're not guilty of being a violent gang member just because you joined a violent gang."
Lol.
Nice strawman
Nice strawman
It's pretty much a completely correct assessment of the situation. ):

The actions to which religion calls you can also stop, and let's be honest, it's not a religion if it doesn't have a particular way of life in mind that it tries to spread and impose. I don't care about simple beliefs, that of course would be silly.
"You're not guilty of being a violent gang member just because you joined a violent gang."
Lol.
So I guess we should punish all Andrastians too, huh? I mean, they haven't done anything to stop it either. Or anyone in the Free Marches for that matter. Heck, everyone on Thedas who haven't tried to free mages should be punished.
lol.
i feel like you're sly digging me tbh
I am unsure as to why. I've been very sincere and open ever since I started posting on this forum.
Nice strawman
That was not a strawman.
You're wasting time trying to explain logic to some of these people.

I.... You know what? I won't even deign this with an answer.
I am washing my hands of this, and the amount of stupidity this thread has perpetrated for far too long.

Sure, if that's how you fell then go for it. ( Not talking about YOU, but you get the idea. )
It's cool that you know that they're not the solution. I agree.
But then, bombing isn't much of a solution either. They just bomb you back. Next thing you know, you bomb their mother. Then they your mother. Then your dog. And uncle's cat. And your mailman.
Yeah it does. IIRC it was 7 years that Anders waited for Elthina to change things, to make things better but it got progressively worst, and not for the better. In ACT 3 the environment was very hostile and it was only matter of time before the Templar's and the mages finally lashed out at each other. Meredith was already planning to slaughter the mages in the circle by requesting ROA. Elthina should've realize that she had an unstable Knight-Commander but she did nothing.
If you disapprove of what Anders did then perhaps you should suggest at what Anders should of done differently in such hostile environment? Where Meredith was nearly impossible to communicate, especially since the Idol was causing her to be insane.

Bye bye.

Yea, because anybody who joins the Chantry automatically becomes the problem and hates all mages

The Chantry has had...exactly how many Exalted Marches since its creation? Seven? I think. So, yes, you can see, even if you don't take the mages into consideration, that the Chantry has condoned and committed violence on a very large scale.

Well if you are against the chantry then.. YES, everyone who joins the chantry become a problem.
......
Yeah that's my reaction to a lot of his posts too. ![]()

More like "You're not guilty of being a violent gang member just because your brother is."

Of course not, that would be impractical.
Besides, random ignorant peasants are just as much victims of the Chantry as anyone else.

Their Exailed Marches are provoked

Yeah it even draws a false conclusion that being a member of a group automatically makes you a violent member of said group, way to point out the flawed logic.

Which way of life are you referring to? I think the Chantry is up for interpretation. If you really want to change "minds" about it, you plant different ideas about the chantry. Present a new way of life. Not just blow stuff up. Ideas must be met with better ideas. Blowing things up doesn't accomplish much, except get everyone pissed and your friends killed in retaliation and war.
Yeah that's my reaction to a lot of his posts too.

Pretty sure Templars are part of the Chantry, and the Chantry is in charge of them.
The fact that the Chantry failed to keep control over them is grounds for further condemnation, not pity.

...So has every major religion and nation in the world.
So with that mindset Meredith was right with invoking the RoA. Awesome.
No, don't be dumb.
How many times do I have to explain that being born with a trait you can't help is not at all on the same moral plane as willingly choosing to join a violent organisation?
