500 for this scene to be in the game:
"Adrian: Why didn't you just kill me?
Inquisitor: Your punishment must be more severe. When the rebellion is ashes, you have my permission to die."

I feel like I'm one of the few people who liked Anders. He wasn't all that terrible until he blew up the Chantry. And romancing him definitely made for an interesting story. I mean, yeah - blowing up the Chantry was technically bad... But what exactly were they doing to help Mages in need? The Chantry had just as much corruption as every other faction/group. And there was something VERY off about the Grand Cleric. She gave Meredith that look at the start of Act III that made the ****** bow down cowardly.
*sigh*
I don't know. I liked him. Not sure if I would want to see him again, though.

Stopping Meredith from killing them all.
And yet while Meredith and Orsino were duking it out in front of the chantry we see the Grand Cleric walking away from the situation. All I saw from that Chantry was a super racist ****** who tried to start an uprising against the Qunari and a Grand Cleric who KNEW just how twisted Meredith and the Templars had become, yet still supported them.
Kirkwall was a disaster even before Hawke showed up. There were no innocent people.

When were they in front of the Chantry? If you mean the beginning of Act 3, that was in front of the Viscount building.
Yes, let's judge an entire group based on the actions of a few. By this logic, you should be super supporting of Templars. After all, some mages were responsible for atrocities, so they are all clearly guilty. ![]()

Whoa whoa. I said no one was innocent. Not even Mages. Kirkwall was just a massive cluster ****. BUT there were non Blood Mages being treated like garbage by the Templar forces. The Chantry knew about it and did nothing to try and stop it. The Grand Cleric almost seemed like she was tired of being stuck in the middle of it.
As for them being in front of the Chantry, I made a mistake. I could have sworn they were all standing in front of it when it blew up. Went back and checked. They weren't directly in front of it.

And likewise, there were many Templars who weren't abusing mages but simply doing their jobs. And Chantry sisters just praying or taking care of the sick and homeless.
Well, wouldn't you be sick of constantly having to babysit Meredith and Orsino? ![]()
Ah, you mean their The Last Straw fight. Yeah, they were at the Lowtown exit for Hightown in that one.

Yeah, but those non-abusive Templars could have done something to protect the Mages. Instead they pulled the "Doing my job" card and looked the other way. Meanwhile Mages were being tortured and made tranquil over a super paranoid Knight Commander.
And the other thing is, most of the Mages who turned to Blood Magic did so only after being backed into a corner. Meredith and her fear of BM ended up inspiring the use of it. In my opinion, at least.
And why didn't the Grand Cleric shut Meredith down? Wasn't she in a position to do so? If so, she's an enabler.

A lot of the abuse was being kept secretive. For example, nobody outside Alrik's circle knew about what he was doing except that he was making Mages Tranquil. He could lie about the reasons and other Templars wouldn't know any better.
That I'll agree with. As Varric says, "The tighter she squeezed, the more they resisted. The more they resisted, the tighter she squeezed."
Elthina shut down Meredith's proposals for the RoA. Other than that the Chantry doesn't really police Templars. That's the Seekers job, and they were being led by super Templar lover Lambert.

Hmm I thought I read somewhere that the Elthina could have forced Meredith to step down, if she really wanted to. I also remember Anders saying something to her about it as well.
