No game can ever be bug free and it's unrealistic to expect bioware to get rid of all of them, they focus their efforts on the major bugs e.g. Face import bug, Normandy cockpit. But most of the bugs in the trilogy are minor (but some can be note worthy) aren't anything to fuss. PC players tend to mod games with features that a lot of devs don't do in their free time, it's rather silly to think bioware isn't the only one. Tbh I think your over exaggerating a lot of your points.

Haven't experienced bug but I'll admit there some bugs to be to dealt with (Aria speech in omega, the one above and other note worthy minor bugs). With that said, I doubt the ports will be bug free and may issues of their own, since they can get overlooked by dev's.

I have all the ME and DA games and DLC on Xbox360, I also have Dragon Age Origins and DLC on PC. I'm also getting Dragon Age II on PC and it's story DLC (about $45 AUS in total) but will get Dragon Age Inquisition on PS4 (I've defected from MS to Sony) as it's apparently not transferable anyhow... your past is built during the beginning of the game or something.

What I'm struggling with is getting ME Trilogy for PC or waiting for PS4... with the trilogy pack and story DLC it's about $140 AUS. I'm not sure whether it's worth it despite how good DAO is on PC vs Xbox 360, or whether I should get it for PS4 instead (especialy if it includes the DLC for better value but if they drag their heals release information the ME Trilogy will be out of stock before too long). Would love some input on ME Trilogy on PC vs PS4... especially if you've played it on both Xbox360 and PC and can tell me what the differences are like.

The PC version when released alongside the others will always be the best version of course.

But waiting 3 or so years to release the trilogy on new consoles means the PC version is a 3 year old game at that point. The new console versions would be the best, hypothetically.

The thing is though, Bioware/EA are not stupid - they would release a trilogy remaster on PC too if the PS4/XB1 versions came out

I'm going to address this point-by-point.

#1 Profit. If EA/Bioware were to release the original trilogy for next gen, it would be an easy 60 to 80 bucks per sale on something that the company doesn't have to spend another dime adding content to, or creating advertising or packaging for. Plus with the multiplayer aspect of ME3 a chance to generate even more revenue with the micro transactions for that is simple. Pure profit.

It wouldn't be "pure profit."  The devs would have to rework the game to run on the new console's system architecture.  I too am no programmer, but I am aware that it would take a small team to accomplish this in a timely manner.  The devs would also need to optimize all three games to run smoother and cleaner (i.e. improving graphics, textures, and loadtimes).  As for marketing, it may not require as much work, but it would still require enough to make consumers aware of this project.  They would also need to set up new multiplayer servers for the Xbox One and PS4.  Not exactly expensive, but not nearly "pure profit."

#2 Game Saves. A lot of people have asked questions about how their game saves would be effected by things like platform upgrade/swap. A digital download version of the trilogy fixes this issue with relative ease. Plus it means a thing like a genesis type DLC would be unnecessary and (tying into article #1) create more profit ie. 60-80 dollars for the trilogy vs. 15-20 for a DLC. Or make both and "Reap" the profit either way. Regardless the company and the fans both win.

The Dragon Age Keep will likely be a precursor for whatever manner they use to import saves for the next Mass Effect.  Not everyone is going to buy a next gen port of the trilogy, so resources will go into making new Mass Effect Genesis regardless.  That being said, it would make things easier for a straight-up save import to the next game.  The profits from a next-gen port could be utilized to fund both either way, so yes, both the company and fans would win.

#3 Quality of current offerings. With the release of the new consoles a short time ago, it is painful to see that games like "Pure Chess" are what developers are fronting as the next generation of exciting new gameplay. And yes I know that most of the release cycle will start getting good after E3, but I would rather play old games on a new console then some of the tripe we seem to be getting shoveled.

I could not agree more.  Now would be a prime time to take advantage of the rather bland market of next gen games.  The Mass Effect Trilogy would provide not only high quality single experience, but a fun and exciting multiplayer experience as well.  It would also provide an opportunity to add more multiplayer content.

I would love to see the Mass Effect trilogy released to the new generation of consoles and the PC.  However, I think BioWare will need to add some value to make this a unique and definitive version of the trilogy.  Here are a few things I would like to see:

  1. Ability to Import previous saved games and achievements from Xbox 360/PS3/PC.
  2. Integrate all DLC into each game.
  3. Add certain features or items that were originally considered for the game, but ended up being rejected due to technical difficulties and limitations, and adding some additional optional side-quests.  For example:
    i.  The inclusion of some of the ME1 weaponry into ME2 and ME3 (like the HMWP, HMWA, HMWSG and HMWSR lines of Spectre weaponry--perhaps only being available in ME2 if Shepard chooses to have his/her Spectre status reinstated by the Council).
ii.  The addition of some Geth Hoppers/Sappers in a new ME2 assignment (and perhaps explain their disappearance/obsolescence).
iii.  An operable Mako in ME3.
iv.  In the subsequent games, being able to return to the house that Acorn gave Shepard once one has completed the Pinnacle Station DLC in ME1.
    v.  Once completing the Omega DLC in ME3, have Aria remain at Omega (instead of returning to the Citadel) and give Shepard the ability to revisit Omega on the Galaxy Map.
vi.  Include one's Shepard's first name (as chosen by the gamer at the initial profile reconstruction/customization at the beginning of the game) on Shepard's plaque on the Normandy memorial wall at the end of ME3.
  4. Of course, improve the graphics and the texture resolutions to really take advantage of the next generation hardware.
  5. Incorporate added features with Xbox Smartglass for equipment, weapons and armour customization as well additional information on locations, enemies and other non playable characters--making the Codex available on a second screen would be fantastic, especially if one could access it even when one isn't playing the game.  Smartglass could be really useful during minigames for decrypting/unlocking doors and items (similar to the Director's Cut of Deus Ex: Human Revolution).  A game progression chart on Smartglass would be swell as well.

Those are my two cents anyway.  I don't think there should be any major changes, especially to anything that could affect the plot or storyline as it is already laid out.  But a few new supplemental features that really take advantage of the next generation of consoles could provide fans some major incentive to play the trilogy again in a new and refreshing manner.

I don't think a next-gen port would be viable now, unless Bioware put in a lot of work bug-fixing and improving animations, graphics and so on.  Even if they work from the PC ports, they'll be porting games from 5 to 2 years old already and, to be honest, the games are showing their age in terms of animation.  So either Bioware puts in work trying to overhaul the games, and so take personel away from their new projects and just hope that the sales of a trilogy that people had already bought will cover the cost, or they release a hardly-changed trilogy and be accused of greed.  That's before we consider they would constantly be bothered by people demanding they change the endings to include more blue babies, etc.

I support this. It would be nice. I just bought a X-Box One :) But i think if it happens it must be HD else there is no point :). And along with the port PC gamers should get an HD pack. Right now I using a 21:9 display on my PC and I would love to see ME in HD on it.

Microsoft only ever published Mass Effect 1, Bioware owned it.

Now EA own it, since they own Bioware. This is how the game came to PC and PS3.

Whatever ownership issues there might have been in the past are no longer a concern, EA owns all rights to ME1 now as evidenced by releasing it on PS3

If they can port the entire trilogy to FrostBite 3 with different graphic engine, different character models and animations, different background and scenes, then GO for it!. Otherwise forget it. I doubt it would be the latter.

Its most likely going to have all the dlc and some slight improvements on the textures that's about it, I wouldn't expect an complete improvement on the graphics.

If the next game is a sequel and takes into account choices you made in the Shepard trilogy, they'll probably do something similar to what they have planned with the Dragon Age Keep. Rather than importing saves you'll select the choices you made in the previous trilogy.

That being said I would like to eventually see a Next Gen port.

The other issue I can see would be the anger towards BioWare if they had it so "Yes you can import a save file, but you have to spend money on buying the game again", I think The Keep idea is basically what they are going to do if there is any significant amount of importing to the next game, but if there isn't I could see something more along the lines of the comic in Mass Effect 2 and 3.

The genesis comics for ME2/3 were terrible, they left out key plot arcs e.g. Feros.

Yes, but if there is only going to be three or four plot choices that carry forward instead of everything that has been done before it makes more sense to me then going to the trouble of making an online app.  As far as Feros the future games really didn't have that much to do with it either, like the other plot points even if you imported a save.  I think its really going to depend on where they want to take the game, how much inter-connectivity they want, and the metrics they have on their end.

If they do a remake/port of ME1-3, they need to make a standard control style across the 3 games, have a stream-less gap between the 3 games, and have all of the DLC present. I already own every piece of ME DLC, I truly will not re-buy any of the DLC.

They don't need a "classic graphics"  button, ala Halo Anniversary, just the basic games with an easier swap between the three.

I don't care about any major changes or enhanced graphics.  All I want is the trilogy ported to PS4 pronto!
