I thought Sandal would play a major part in Dragon Age Inquisition. We haven't heard anything about him and there is no indication he will be a party member. I wanted Sandal to be a main character, has he been written out of the game?

He will likely play the same role he always has.

In DA2 Bodahn mentions that Empress Celene has taken an interest in Sandals abilities and that he and Sandal were going to Orlais. Seeing as how Inquisition is set in Orlais, I think its a safe bet to say that he'll be in the game. (Especially considering how popular he is and the fact that hes a prominent character in both DAO and DA2)

If he were a companion, he'd overshadow the Inquisitor...

Cassandra: "Dragon!!!"

Sandal: "Boom."

*dragon blows up*

Cassandra: "Oh..."

*meanwhile the Inquisitor is just standing there, weapon at the ready with nothing to do*

I kind of thought Sandal got a bit too much screen time in DA2.

It was cute when he was a very minor character in camp with a neat little cameo at the end.

Any more focus just feels like over indulgent fan service and kind of takes some of the magic away.

He will no doubt be in the game, but never a companion. Why would he play any different role other than what he has previously, and what makes you think he has been written out, he his a minor character and there is no reason for Bioware to make announcements about him lol?

Do you remember in DOA: 2 Sandal father wanted him to be taking care by the main character?

He has foretold the event which is going to have place in DA: I.

I can't see him as a companion character. However, I am sure he will be in this game. Devoid of the how popular he is, there is the unanswered question of what he really is, what he can do, how he can do it and what role it will play in everything. I doubt Bioware would give him the kind of power he has without a purpose for it, whether it is big or small. We will see him again and I have a feeling, it will be more significant than him just popping up and saying, "ENCHANTMENT!"

Don't missunderstand me I think he is a cool character, the scenes at the end of DA;O and DA:2 with him standing around a bunch of corpses and his ability shown down in the deep roads obviously indicates there is more to his character, and i look forward to seeing that, especially since he foretold the events of the breach in DA:2 when he says all that crazy stuff. As for him being a companion character, no he is probably just simply too powerful.

Thanks! I'm glad there are people here who answer the questions with logic and not trying to get a laugh. We never know he might have a significant role as DLC or within the main game. I hope so because he seems to be powerful and have some hidden abilities.

I'm sure conversations with him will be very... one sided.

Like: Well, how are you, Sandal? - Enchantment?

No, not right now. Do you...   -Enchantment?

I said, no, Sandal. i just wish to ask... -Enchantment?

sounds rather annoying to me. As crafter, okay, but not as a companion.

He grates on me. I prefer Dog's conversation to his.
