I wish it was improved. Not removed. But that discussions been had. Not one I'm particularly inclined to revisit.I'll jump on board with the PC/console Mako difference. Much easier on a controller. With that being said I'm still glad it was removed as my issues with the whole Mako exploration segments extend well beyond the vehicle controls.
And so.... It begins. ME trilogy coming to XB1/PS4

Hey I get the reasons. I tend to think boards are most useful for understanding the opposing argument, even if it won't change your mind. ![]()
I just don't place much value on exploration in any game, really.

I actually prefer ME1's combat over ME2's. Sure ME1 is a little awkward, but it's radically different from the other two. When I play ME2, the combat is so similar to ME3, but yet at the same time, it's definitely not as polished as ME3, and I find myself wishing it could just have that extra little bit of polish that ME3 got. Not sure if that makes any sense or not, but that's how I feel.
ME2 is the most difficult game in the series. ME2 insanity will make you eat your own head at times. That game is brutal- the way insanity and high difficulty should be. I prefer ME2's combat system, but I'm such a bias "ME2 is the best at everything" fanboy so.... Yeah.
I do like ME1's open combat feel, it wasn't as CQC as ME2 and 3, it was open with long lines of sight, sniping in ME1 was actually sniping at range.
ME1 was amazing. Second best game in the series.
All of the games are great-even ME3 despite it's, shall we say, noticeable flaws and step backs. I'm so excited for this news. I might.... Eat my own head.

Obvious caveat: Except if you play Vanguard.

I understand. Thing is, the sequels were trying to be cover-based shooters. ME1 was never that focused on such a gameplay aspect. The option to take cover was there. But there wasn't neat boxes of cover perfectly laid out for your firefights. Sure, there were crates and objects obviously, but it was a more natural level design imo, which made for more variety in approaching combat. (however, I'm aware of the overuse of said designs such as the cookie cutter encampments found on the uncharted worlds.)I actually prefer ME1's combat over ME2's. No matter what classes I play as in the sequels, I'm takeing cover with the A button repeatedly. Not so with the first game.
The snipers are fun to shoot in the sequels. But it doesn't compare to actually 'sniping' in ME1. They're just completely different animals.

Yes, and in ME1 you could build a true tank with the Barrier+shield boost+good armor. Even on Insanity in ME1 this was a doable option.
As you said ME2 and 3 are cover shooters with not as long lines of sight and open combat areas. Sniping in ME2 and 3 is almost- on higher difficulties, quick scoping to a degree, you need quick target acquisition and twitch skills to be really good at it. Whereas in ME1 you had weapon sway, and overheat and all that stuff to manage, but you could manage it at like 300 meters plus sometimes.
I really do like ME1's combat, it's a sharp contrast to ME2 and 3's.

As often as I used cover in ME3, I didn't feel like the entire map was laid out like an arena like ME2 was. Jack's recruitment mission on Purgatory was so blatant it was actually kind of amusing, because you walk into that processing area and you can tell right off that a fight is going to happen there, and then you had those panels that raised automatically when you approached them.

Oh, man, time to play all my saves again. Eventually. Once Xbox one is all settled down and my boyfriend's satisfied with it.

I get what you mean. ME3 was definitely an improvement in that area. But it still was a true evolution of ME2s gameplay and design. ME1 was just it's own breed. I feel like the sequels are really more like spiritual successors to the first game in name and characters only. Whereas 3 is a true/full sequel to 2.
Hope that makes sense.

At this point I'm starting to think that if this doesn't include ALL DLC (ALL DLC ALL DLC ALL DLC ALLLL DLCCC), it'll be bad enough that it could be considered a PR blunder. I mean, it's 2014.

Listen guys, all that really matters is that we get more of this guy in 1080p, at 60 frames and blah, blah, blah. Just more of the greatest Bro in the history of video games.

I feel like "All DLC" is basically given. I can't imagine they'd put out a remastered trilogy on next gen consoles without the DLC included. Tomb Raider remastered had all the content. TLoU will have all the content. I think Mass Effect will trend that way. It's a no brainer.
It's not a given until it is announced. Not with Bioware.

I imagine for many, it can make or break the deal for people who wanted to get the trilogy for the new platform. Unless every DLC is available, I wouldn't bother either.

I know right. Liara's recruitment in ME1 was extremely easy on 360 then I played PC and wanted to blow my brains out.
Wait, what? At anything other than close range the geth can't hit the Mako. Their shots are too slow.
Or do you mean you kept driving into lava?
I'm not saying that driving the Mako was fun, but unless a thresher maw comes up right under you it's almost impossible to get killed in the thing.

Idk. Do remastered collections usually get released on PC? I know they have the ability to incorporate mods which are otherwise impossible on consoles.Would that imply a new PC edition too?
I wouldn't mind seeing a Skyrim remastered for next gen consoles. But I doubt it'd be released on PC considering mods can already make it look photo-realistic on a high end rig.

I'm talking about driving into lava and just general fuckery that came with using the PC controls.

I also doubt they will change any of the plot or add anything extra, as nice as that would be (well not for me because I'm on the pc).

I'd be surprised if they upgraded the graphics. All they have to do is pretty much release the pc versions as they are now.

Probably, like I said it will mostly likely be comparable to 1080p and ultra/high settings with DX11 goodies at 60 frames. For us console peasants, it would be a noticeable step up, as Mass Effect was 720p, 30 frames and had DX9 stuff like HDR lighting, soft shadows, and some anti aliasing on 360/PS3, but no where near what DX11 is, and obviously the rather large bump in resolution and huge bump in frames would be incredibly welcomed. I've seen and played a bit of ME3 on Ultra at 1080p on my pals rig-at the time he was running a 560ti in SLI, and quad core I5 2500k, and I think bout 8GB of ram, and it was a very. very big and noticeable difference when I compared it to my derpy console version. The resolution and frames alone was staggering.
