That's exactly what I liked about them
I would love that look if my mage were an apostate. It would just fit the part.

So long as there isn't any of that 'fake skirt' type robe. The ones where the skirt is split down the centre so you can see the characters legs. So some reason that really bothers me in robe design.
For me, those would be mandatory for the sake of mobility.

My mage don't need no 'mobility' he'll glide his way to victory! Walking is for the weak and not magical.
Added some pics to the bottom on my original post. Have a look.
**nosebleed from all the pretty Star Wars robe designs** Thanks a lot, now I'll be sketching robes until Inquisition arrives.

You're welcome! Muwhahahahahaaaaa! ![]()
Funny enough, I never liked Skyrim's robes. I guess they are practical given the weather there but they felt less mage-like and more wandering traveller.
I felt like this, not that I am against those kinds of robes but you want verity, the apprentice robes looked kind of dirty and every mage in Winterhold looked a bit scruffy/plain.
There were a few DLC robes I liked though

Technically light Armour but it looked good on mages.

Miraak and the robes from the Konahrik's Accoutrements were ones I liked.

I was hoping a Dalish mage might look more earthy and raggity, like Merrill. Be it male or female. I'm not playing one if I end up looking like an Orlesian.
thats your opinion mine opinion its girly.
That's how I imagine an Orlesian mage outfit should look like.

Just because something looks 'girly' doesn't mean it isn't powerful
Couldn't have said it better myself.

ha girly in powerful dont go together never have never will.

That statement completely ridiculous and kind of meaningless. Are you just trying to get a rise out of people here by saying crap like that?

Erza Scarlet and Juvia Lockser would like a word with you.

My question s to ask why do mages need to be limited to robes?
for myself personally i think it is a antiquated system same as the tri-class

By all means, please tell me where I said that mages must only and always, forever wear robes? Let me paste this quote from my first post.
"Traditional robes are absolutely fine, but they have to at least look good AND wearable for the player (looking at you again Orsino).
Some gear like Hawke mage wouldn't be so bad but it has too look more natural, that bulky mess of an arm was...quite something but the robe itself just looked to 'thrown together'. However, the idea of a 'battlemage' robe is cool (armour+robe) but the only real examples of such garments I can think of the Hawke mage and Fugitives Mantel aka tatty, thrown together at the last minute thing and a makeshift chantry robe."
I thought it was pretty clear that I was asking that Bioware to make decent, good looking traditional robe for mages, while providing examples of what I considered to be good, rather than the awful robes Bioware has put in their last two Dragon Age games. Nowhere in this thread did I, or anyone else to my knowledge, say that mages must only wear traditional robes. Do stop putting words in people's mouths, nobody likes that and you can call me harsh or whatever, but I don't appreciate people trying to cause a fuss over something that was never said.

Me too. I loved Merrill's robe (the one time I played DAO on PC I even modded her outfit in my my Mahariel). Morrigan's weren't bad either, but with less chest exposure. I'd love some fur/feathers, leather and earthy colours.
I'd quite like something like that for my Qunari/Vashoth too, since I currently have a hard time picturing them in ostentatious gear.

The hell you babbling on about, you asked a question about mage gear and instead of me making a topic i added a question to it asking on top of your question why mage's should be limited to robes thus expanding the gear available to them, im no putting words in any bodys mouth, im no jumping on anyones back all i did was ask a question in a relevant thread nothing more.
Next time get of your high horse an stop being so damn paranoid

This thread is about the lacklustre designs of the traditional robes and asking Bioware to expand and improve upon them. Your question is something separate from this topic and you should make your own thread to ask it. Not to mention your wording makes it sound like you're responding to something someone had said, so naturally it comes off as trying to start a fuss, even if it wasn't meant to be.

No it never sounded like i was making a fuss or trying to stir up trouble or even pick a fight with someone, your the one that decided my single easily understood question an statement was malicious and decided to nit pick it an have a fight noone else

Well no, your comment sounds like you're responding to someone but since nobody has said anything about limiting mage gear, that makes it sound like stirring. Again, if you want to ask a question unrelated to this thread then you should click the Start New Topic button.

Again your hearing things out yer arse, an the only one that stirred things was yourself, internet's a nasty place i know but there aint no need to go looking for it where it be not found, as i said before my question was relevant to mage gear not directed at anyone and certainly not stirring anything if you cant see that that is your problem, now all you managed to do is derail your own perfectly fine topic with paranoia where there certainly was none found

As opposed to you trying to derail it with a question irrelevant to what this thread is dealing with? Since you also see that this topic is getting sidetracked maybe you have comment to make about the actual topic at hand? Bioware's design of the traditional mage robes.
