I have a Xbox One and lately most of our games are having to sacrifice either resolution or frame rate and i was just wanting to know if this will also be the case for Dragon Age Inquisition?

I'm also curious to find out which is more important to you guys and which would you choose to sacrifice if you had to?

Also if we could refrain from making this thread into a console war i would much appreciate it.

Really? That doesn't bode well... Which cames in particular?

Personally I'd sacrifice resolution any day. Nothing breaks my immersion like choppy frame rate.

I didn't know this was a problem. Wow.

Oh and I would have to say resolution definitely.

I had not heard of this problem. I wonder why?

EDIT to add, I would also sacrifice resolution if it was one or the other.

MGS ground zero ran in 720 I believe. Lords of the fallen(I think) said they are having more difficulty getting 1080 on xbox one vs ps4. I think cod ghosts ended up in 720 also, not that the graphics are great anyway.

I'm kind of curious about this as well, though im just gonna be safe and get it on ps4.

With Inquisition releasing when it does, hopefully it won't suffer this problem.

As far as I can tell from the various things I've read since the new consoles released, a lot of developers recieved Xbox One devkits much later than they'd have liked - the RPG 'Bound by Flame' isn't releasing on the console for this reason, despite coming out on Xbox 360, PS3 & PS4.

It's easy to bash the X1 and claim it's underpowered, but with games like Ryse and Forza 5 (the latter of which is full 1080p, 60fps), it's likely down to this lack of developer familiarity with how the thing works. Not great management on Microsoft's part, but hopefully it'll become less of an issue as time goes on.

If i had this problem, i would certainly sacrifice resolution. Low frame rate is THE immersion killer in terms technical aspects of a game. I however will be getting it on PC, that way my game will look pretty and run smoothly, but that does mean i will likely have a whole other range of problems to be dealing with that usually comes with PC releases lol.

Anyone tried out the PS4 yet? Found any issues with particular games?

It also could be the ddr3 ram it uses too. Since both ps4 and pc's graphics cards usually have ddr5 ram.

Edit : Just to clarify ddr3 ram is slower than ddr5 ram.

It will probably run at 900p and it will be locked at 30 FPS.

This doesn't seem to be related to Inquisition so much as its related to the Xbox One so this thread is better suited in Off Topic but as for the subject, it depends.

I don't pay attention too much to resolution or frame rate when I get my games, I just care if I'm having fun. Because of this I'm not one of the best folks to talk to when it comes to this sort of thing. I can say this- I own an X1 right now, two of my stepbrothers own PS4s, plan to get X1s, and upon seeing them both work we've come to the conclusion that both are pretty much the same thing so when it comes to Inquisition, I don't believe the console will have to suffer lowering one or the other.

Basically, don't worry about it. Inquisition will look great no matter what platform you play it on, whether its 360, PS3, X1, PS4, or PC.

Indeed.

The X1 allegedly has ways to negate the difference, but again it just makes the system all the more complex. It's easy for MS to claim this is better, but what's the point in the system being able to get more out of lesser hardware when it takes precious extra dev time to get it to do this?

Is the Xbox One capable of generating the same graphics as the PS4? Probably yes. But the key thing is the time taken programming the thing to get it to do it. It's easier for the devs to just lower the resolution and/or framerate and call it done.

Honestly I can see this generation going the way the last one did, but flipped round - the PS3 was always on paper the more powerful console, but was a nightmare to develop for. This time it seems it's MS's turn to have the overcomplicated system architecture.

And just to make it clear I'm not trying to start a console war, I own an Xbox One, not a PS4. Just tired of people on both sides making nonsense up :/

I know what you mean. Although with DA I they will probably take the extra time and make it 1080p with 60fps.

¿Por qué no los dos?

I rather sacrifice overall complexity, native resolution and decent framerates are non negotiable (imo).

That's simply not possible.

I've only had my XB1 for about a month but I'm a fan of most of its features, but the console definitely feels rushed and incomplete. Hopefully the system updates by then will cope and DAI will be fine.

I've had the X1 since launch and I can attest to it feeling fantastic. Like any new console it needs work, it lacks things that it should have and will get in future updates, but performance wise(which is what really matters for Inquisition) it should be just fine.

This is how real gamers play RPGs anyway:

Sorry. I shouldn’t make posts.  My mother taught me not to throw stones at peasants..

.... But my father taught me aim for their head.

Sincerely curious, what makes one buy Xbox? This early on in console generation, neither of them has catalog to speak of. Like..you buy games for next gen consoles cause, for some reason, you have next gen console. But you don't buy next gen console to play the games available for it.

PS4 is cheaper and comes with more juices. This has been known for a long time. Cheaper and more powerful console vs more expensive, slower console. Suprisingly large minority rolls with latter. ;o  " All my friends bought Xbox" makes a valid, very  sensible reason. It also literally the only one I can think of.

During Xbox hype machine about a year back, their PR guys appeared like aliens from another planet.  "Guys hey guys! You can use your Xbox to watch tv and sports!" What in the name of living **** is this ****? How can this be a relevant, fun or exciting feature to anyone who cares enough of consoles to buy them somewhere around launch year. An extra goddamned box to worry about between you and tv. What...WHY? Srs.
