If you do it is called propaganda. Religion has both positive and negative aspect just like everything else in this world. There is no perfect human, society, government, etc. If you truly paint it as flawed and don't show any positives then it is clear you have an agenda. BioWare has done a nice job showing both sides. I see nothing wrong in what they are doing.

I believe that BioWare has been neutral showing positive and negative aspects and will continue to do so. Which should answers the OP concerns.

I also think this thread shouldn't be about religion itself.

I'm sure making this about religion is a good way to get it shut down.

I don't believe it does. They could present the behavior of adherents of the faith in a neutral manner while still revealing some fundamental aspects of their theology to be lies. I think anything short of whether the Maker is actually real could be fair game. Like the nature of the breach of the 'golden city' for example.

I think it's kind of hard to avoid talking about religion when the topic is the merit of religion deconstruction storylines.

Besides, Andrastianism was clearly inspired by Christianity, too many similarities. Most considerations apply to both DA and the real world.

Actually, it is not hard and site rules say to be respectful. This is a fantasy story and we could keep the discussion tied to Dragon Age's religion. Many of the post were doing this some were not. Some were actually talking about real religion and making statements about Western religion or religion in general. It doesn't belong here because BioWare is talking about a fantasy religion.

"Like the nature of the breach of the 'golden city' for example." This is not a problem because it has nothing to do with real religion. It should be open to discuss fantasy religion.

This is not a place for a real world religious discussion. Again remember the site rule number 1 be respectful. Keep it to the story. If you believe or don't believe in a religion the BioWare site shouldn't be used as your platform.

" Andrastianism was clearly inspired by Christianity" maybe but it is not a real history.

I did thanks. You are in agreement that BioWare is showing a balanced picture? Their fantasy religion has both positive and negative included.

Discussing about religion makes one disrespectful? No one here said that religion is bullshit or insulted other posters. I said that in my opinion religions in Thedas, like religions in the real world, are prone to inaccuracy and most of the believers I've met don't acknowledge that.
I agree that the discussion has gone a bit off topic, but how was that disrespectful?

Bioware has painted a realistic picture so far, balancing moderate/reasonable individuals with fanatics in every group, not just religious ones. There are faults in every organization, Chantry included.

Yes it goes off topic and it shouldn't. That is my point.

Comments like the following is not about Dragon Age anymore:

“I'm not the biggest expert on Christianity here, but if I recall correctly the Bible is riddled with contradictions and allegories, and there are different versions that other men authorized or declared heretical hundreds of years after they were written. It doesn't mean it's all bullshit, but some perspective doesn't hurt.”

This thread shouldn’t discuss Christianity or the Bible or Western religions. It is getting out of hand. For the respect of the rules please keep the discussion to BioWare’s Dragon Age religion.

If someone is interested in a given religion they should get their information from that particular group not a BioWare site.

BioWare Lore is exciting all by itself. Their fantasy religion stands on its own and doesn't need to bring in any real religion to discuss it.

Doesn't change much. But I see your point so I'll drop it

I can see this storyline looming large in Dragon Age 3 that it practically stinks. Too many "Fantasy Worlds" (looking at you, Game of Throne) use this as a basis for the friction or stranglehold that a particular faith may have in that world. I would like to see the DA writers to actually handle the faith of Thedas with depth and understanding, not use it as a political statement of religions in general.

1.st: Religion IS a lie... and most likely the biggest in human history.

2nd: Since the rights/license of this franchise lies with the developer, it's their right to handle the dragon-age-universe in any way they want  and see fit.

3rd. If you don'tlike that, don't play it.

4th. I can't stand those fanatic religious characters .Sebastian? Didn't like. Leliana?  Didn't like.

3th.  Could you please explain with "handle the faith of Thedas with depth ans understanding"? No matter how often i read that, i just don't get the intention behind it or how that should actual work out.
