I have a "nostalgia" solo challenge ideas, that is, class builds form ME2 (mostly) and ME1(one or two). I know there was capn's Alliance series, but since Vanilla is my favorite flavor and the nostalgia builds are all about Shepard, it naturally features the original human kits. I got 13 challenges (2 per class and a bonus one for Infiltrator). I think those might be better suited for a separate series though, not for weekly challenges 3.0. Or perhaps those 13 could be about Shepard builds and the rest could be about ME1/2 squadmates' exploits.

 

I do want to impose some restrictions though - no AC, no GS, (maybe) no objectives glitching, no cyclonics/lvl 4 consumables for Gold (allowed for Plat), at least for the Shepard challenges.

 

If someone's interested I can post the details on the 13 challenges and start exchanging ideas about the rest.

I always wanted to see ME2 mercenaries in action. So, something based on them would be nice. Blue Suns, Eclipse, Blood Pack. There are many vanilla human kits that we can use there (for us - vanilla lovers).

As for weapons: Only ME2 weapons.

 

In general, I would love to see more vanilla human characters.

 

If you are interested, I could post details on few challenges.

All right, whenever there's a question mark it means I'm still deliberating that map or requirement. Let's begin with the general conditions:

 

No Armored Compartments, Geth Scanner, Cyclo0nics, level 4 consumables; no objective glitching (?)

For the Insanity version Cyclonics and lvl 4 consumables are allowed.

 

Human Adept (only Warp or AP ammo allowed)

I. Nice relaxing day... blasting bad guys with my boomstick

Claymore, Reapers/Hydra, Shotgun gold medal required, 5WS

II. Walking on Sunshine

Vindicator, Geth/Giant(we'll pretend it's Haestrom), 4 gold medals, 5WS (maybe Mattock allowed for Insanity version)

 

Human Engineer (only AP, Disruptor(?) or Cryo ammo allowed)

I. I have a Shotgun...

Eviscerator, Cerberus/White (?), gold shotgun medal required, must spec into Drone, maybe 5WS required as well(?)

II. Diversant

Carnifex (or Executioner perhaps?), Geth/Dagger, 5 WS required

 

Human Sentinel (only Cryo, Warp or AP ammo allowed)

I. No idea for title yet

Falcon or Acolyte + Hornet, Reaper/Condor(?) The idea is to replicate the CryoThrow Sentinel from ME2

II. No idea for title yet

Raider, Collectors/Glacier Hazard(?), Inspiration is the Shotgun Assault Sentinel from ME2, 25 tech kills required.

 

Human Infiltrator (Only Cryo, Disruptor or AP ammo allowed)

I. Right In Two

Widow + Hornet (I feel Hornet best resembles the ME2 Shuriken feel), Collectors/ Ghost Hazard(?) or maybe Reactor Hazard(?), at least silver medal for each weapon

II.The Agent

Mattock + sidearm, Cerberus/Goddess, 20 HS, 5WS, gold AR medal required

Ideally I'd like the sidearm to be a pistol, but I'm concerned about the on-host phantom BS. Perhaps the Mantis as a secondary, or allow Drill ammo ? Or allow lvl 4 ammo on Hardcore, so you can get the 2m penetration from weapon piercing mod + AP ammo?

III.No idea for title yet (bonus Kishock challenge)

Kishock + Blood Pack Punisher, no idea yet for faction/map or requirements, besides 20 HS, I guess...This is not part of the "nostalgia" builds, but I really like the Kishock. Harpooning a phantroll is so gratifying...

 

Human Soldier (Only Cryo, Disruptor, Incendiary or AP ammo allowed)

I. Blitzkrieg

Claymore, Reaper/Jade, no idea about requirements, perhaps 3 killstreaks required?Or time constraint on the solo, say less than 40 minutes on Hardcore....

II. For Whom The Bell Tolls

Revenant, Collectors/Rio(?)

 

Human Vanguard (Only Cryo, Incendiary,  Warp or AP ammo allowed)

I. Tactical Assault

Valiant + sidearm (smg or maybe a lower tier shotgun), Geth(?)/Vancouver(?), must spec into Shockwave

II.Vulgar Display Of Power

Claymore, Cerberus/Ghost, 10 WS (this should be a bonus challenge, or maybe 5WS required and a special recognition for getting the 10 WS),

 

If you want to do this as a Weekly Challenges series, then we can think up some challenge scenarios for Shepard's squadmates and rejiggle the order.

This is some really great stuff guys. I know AW_FC has something planned for post week 21. It looks like we have a bunch of vanilla and gang challenges here too.. Maybe there is a way we can incorporate.. or have another series after AW_FC's reveal. :) Looks like plenty of challenges ahead.

I guess, that the oncoming challenge series should take 2-3 weeks to complete. I suggest, that there is no time till the challenges will be closed. :)

There is still some time needed to prepare all these new ones. Besides, maybe there is a way to incorporate xelander's and Lux Caelumcs challenges. I intended to do someyhing like the N7 series, because it was and is very popular, while it is very motivating to reach N7. :)

Sounds like you have some ideas brewing AW_FC. Let me know if you have any questions or anything! Incorporating them would be pretty cool, but I know they may be somewhat "out of theme" for your challenges? I agree, no time limit needed.

 

Sometimes, when there are too many challenges though, things like thread space need to be considered and they just don't seem to get done (take triune trials for instance). I'll probably have to create archives for the weekly series 2.0 to free up space in the main thread for the new series.

 

Also, I highly recommend photos just to keep with the style/allure of the challenges. I can let you know about the dimensions i put all photos in 500x281 pixels... but anyway it's up to you how you want to do it!

The post week 21 challenges won´t come in the N7 series style. They still look alike, when I posted them to you. Nothing has changed. :)

 

I referred the (maybe) new series to the N7 series, but the idea is still in development. So I would welcome, if xelander would post his ideas first. (Maybe after the post week 21 challenges) :)

 

I agree, that too many challenges won´t get done proberly. Concerning the triune trials, I can tell you, that Smehur, ex-Clusum and I are stucked at N2 I (purist´s punishment). One of us (usually Smehur :P) get synced or we run out of medigels due to stupid objectives (Goddess :angry:

 

Besides, I´m a scrub, when it comes to photo cutting :P.

Yeah, no worries. I think it's also a little more difficult to coordinate trios and duos sometimes. And that's fine for the post 21 series :) As long as the actual N7 progression rank isn't used  for the N7-like series :P. That's kind of unique to the N7 series! Thinking back on it, it's actually insane how much time I spent creating that. Literally probably 30 hrs worth to "perfect it". It was fun though

 

Looking forward to the ideas. It's great that you guys are keeping it going strong!

Please, we're not stuck, we just don't do it. We had like 10 attempts in the past close-to-4-months and about 5 of those were on the very first time we tried it.

Right, i was thinking about a whole challenge series based on ME2. We'd have 12 solo missions (the ones I posted above), 12 duos (Loyalty missions) and 12 trios (full ME2 team), with a few bonus challenges. To put an asymmetric spin on it, only one player will be allowed to use missiles (though on any wave). That could be either "Shepard", or a predetermined team member. Not sure if we should lock this to Shepard or leave some more freedom of choice to the players. Also, to promote teamwork, no medi-gel allowed (ops packs are fine). Naturally, solos have those restrictions removed. Also, no GS or AC for any mission, even solos. Perhaps no Cyclonics for the trios as well. Objective glitching allowed only for solos.

 

The squadmates would be represented by the following:

Shepard - Vanilla Human

Miranda - HSent , possibly with Disruptor Ammo or Acolyte locked in to simulate the shield-stripping of Overload

Jacob - Human Vanguard without Biotic Charge and with Lifting Nova

Garrus - TSol (I thought of TGI, but I so hate this abomination of a kit...) possibly lock Disruptor ammo as a requirement

Mordin - SE

Zaeed - Talon , though it's gameplay is so unique, it doesn't really represent well Zaeed from ME2. No Caines!

Kasumi - N7 Shadow

Grunt - KroSol

Thane - DA

Tali - FQI or FQE, though I'm leaning toward the first, cause of the AI Hacking abilities. FQE has actually Mordin's abilities from ME2

Samara - AJA

Jack - HA with Shockwave

Legion - GE

Liara - AA with Stasis

 

Weapon loadouts should be similar to those in ME 2 (not necessarily with 2 weapons though), though I might switch some so as not to hamper the Platinum attempts too much.

 

I still haven't given much thought towards the specific scenarios - Map/Enemy and team compositions, so any suggestions are welcome.

My phone is about to die, but that sounds awesome x3lander! I especially like the missile restriction to one character (I think changing that up based on the challenge focus would be neat) and the no medigel (perhaps permitted on objective waves?) are interesting requirements that would definitely set this apart from other series.

I'll try to think up some ideas. I'd also recommend keeping the master plan secret until the release date for overall effect :D

First of all, a big thank you from a newcomer to the world of challenges! You all put in a big amount of work in creating and maintaining high-level content, both in this group and in the thread, and it provides an awesome new experience in gameplay!

 

As for trying to come up with some content: with emexia, we have recently tried a vanilla HSol duo: AR build + Cryo build, and it was incredibly fun. While both kits are plenty strong on their own, played together they can plug the few weaknesses they each have: cryo soldier is the king of mook killers, and AR soldier owns bosses, so when you put them together... :P . Reapers have no answer, it's almost unfair how fast they fall: a highly recommended duo, when you feel like blowing some steam.

 

As far as building a challenge out of it, what I am thinking is that collectors would prove to be a worthy adversary: plenty of dangerous mooks and lots of big units, plus the constant danger of abominations and seeker swarms would enhance the need for tactical planning.

 

From a narrative perspective, well... collectors where introduced to the mp with this, so this could be the story of two grunts who valiantly fought the hordes of collectors on Dagger, long enough to complete three vital assignments, before the station is finally overwhelmed. Since you all seem to enjoy lore-friendly loadouts :) , the weapons could be e.g. Falcon and Mantis (AR build shines on 1-shot weapons... which the alliance seems to despise). If playing on the hazard version or when on platinum though, I think the poor grunts should be allowed to find the keys to the alien-design armoury, so they can equip more sensible loadouts (acolyte or venom, claymore or widow possibly?).

 

Sorry for the long post, and I hope this is not a repeat of someone else's idea (sooo much content to go through ;) ). Emexia and I have actually enjoyed trying out thematically or functionally interesting duos, so if you'd like, we could try to come up with more possible challenges out of that.

I think that is a great duo idea. I don't think we have have had that particular combination yet as a duo in the thread, although, I admit, there have been so many challenges over the past couple years that my memory sometimes does fail me.

 

There is a 2 year anniversary special currently in the works, but hopefully we can incorporate your challenge in possibly a third duo series (???) in the near future. Again, welcome and have fun guys!
