Do you think that "Mass Effect "is like "Lord of the rings" of 21st century? Because I can't think of anything else in the past few years that could create such a hype, story and lore.
Is Mass Effect new Lord of the Rings?

star wars-HELL no
its a great story and all, some of the best lore weve ever seen, but you cant POSSIBLY compare it to the size and depth of the star wars universe

Comparing it to star wars i would say is pretty dull, as in my opinion the star wars universe does not have the same depth and appeal (atleast not to me personally). Also i find Me a lot more plausible, since this event is set in the "near" future you get the feel that this is what can happen.

Mass Effect is great and I love it, but it's not going to become anywhere near the size of LOTR and especially most definitely not Star Wars. Those are masterpieces.
You could say that ME trilogy is Bioware's Opus Magnum I suppose.

In the end though, LOTR more or less defined fantasy, while Mass Effect is here after decades of sci-fi, such as Star Wars.
Similar in the ways you described, but not quite so impacting on the world.

Star Wars has a depth beyond the scope of Mass Effect in its infant state. You obviously aren't interested in Star Wars and don't know much about the EU.

Also, in terms of the sci-fi genre I don't think much has come our way that has floored me like Blade Runner has. Mass Effect is as close as it has come for me.

I actually feel it is alot like Lotr. It gives me exactly the same fuzzy feeling, the music score reminds me alot of the Lotr movies. And to a great extent Me has as deep a background story for the different races and characters.

you have got to be kidding? theres literally hundreds of books, hundreds of species, dozens of planets. star wars is the greatest space opera of all time, and ME would NOT exist without star wars

Affirmative. It could be what Star Wars was to films for video games.Gorn Kregore wrote...

As a big Star Wars person I agree with this.

im not a star wars fan boy, just a fan of the OT and a few games, but you cant possibly think that a game thats been out a few years has "far more well thought out" lore than a universe thats been around for 40 years
