Because love works in mysterious ways?
Besides just because an elf has a longer lifespan than a human doesn't necessarily mean the relationship would last longer or that one spouse wouldn't outlive the other if the couple was Elven.

Lol
I'm gonna take the high road and hypothesize that the longer your fantasy life expectancy is, the smaller your genitalia, hence the disparity between Long-Lived Race's Females going for Short-Lived race's Males. I'm sure this will stand up to the scientific process.

But their genitalia is smaller as well.. that's a perfect fit. A short-lived male will make it very painful..
IF this were true, why don't why see any fade creatures joining in on it? Are they separate from judgement?

Huh?
This can be seen as a general question for fantasy in general, so feel free to use broad examples.
Why do we see in most fantasy longed lived races like elves fall in love with humans? Aren't they setting themselves up fro heartbreak doing that? Considering they will most likely out live their partner? Just seems foolish to me that they wouldn't find romantic partners outside their race that will live just as long as they will.
Humans are just better.

Perfect response to your theory of Mages being a separate race.

Don't go poking holes in my theory.

Nah.
Don't go poking holes in my theory.
The only ones poking holes in your theory are the short-lived males.

What?! Ha ha ha Oh wow!
So they never get bored with the relationship and can have many relationships, obviously.

Nah, people love their dogs because dogs love them back almost unconditionally, no matter how you look or what kind of person you are.

Precisely.
It feels great to be superior automatically and by default.

Superior to whom? Why?
The heart wants what it wants. I doubt they plan it out that way.
Also, Dragon Age elves aren't immortal anymore. The legend goes that when the elves first met humans they were rather friendly with one another, but soon they started to notice they were aging and dying just like humans do. When they tried to get away from the humans they got all enslaved and junk, and now as a result, they have the same life spans as humans. Unless you were planning on romancing Flemeth, you probably won't have that kind of problem.
(It does stand to reason that somewhere in Thedas there could be a few immortal elves hanging about. Fingers crossed we meet one in Inquisition.)
i'm like a dragon age lore library and yet i still can't seem to remember some of the more complicated anthropological concepts. is it too late to change my major.
Why do people get dogs? They only live about 10 - 15 years.

You can't really bond with your dog like you can with another human.
DA elves aren't long-lived though are they? Not since the Quickening. Perhaps the Maker falling in love with mortal Andraste fits this question though.

I think you haven't known enough dogs.
