Shemsu-Heru made me aware of the cool site that is TF3DM.  It's a collection of (mostly) models and textures exported from various existing games into different formats (.obj, .3ds, .mesh, etc.).  There is some original content in there, but not nearly as much as the exported professional stuff.

After parsing thru a lot of the content and experimenting with different gmax import scripts, I have been able to create a package of weapons and shields from different sources on the site.  This includes 4 light maces, 3 short swords, 1 spear, 1 trident, and 8 large shields.  The work mainly involved import, scaling, mesh repairs, shadow repairs, and texture alignments (and inventory icon creation).  The package is available on the new vault here.  Enjoy!

You saved me a ton of work. Thank you so much. I was looking at doing the Hawk maces and Killer Frost's sword myself.

I just finished up a Bloodrayne head converted from that site and was about to finish up the dangly hair last night when I received word that a friend of mine was shot in the chest by an ex-girlfriend of mine. Needless to say, I haven't finished yet.

Now I have to go knock some of these off the drive if I can even remember what's named what. Do you have plans to do more?

I'm glad you like and have use for the conversions.  I'm sorry about your friend - I hope the incident was not fatal.

I have pulled down several other models from the site to convert to placeables, but they are aimed towards the teams that do D20 and Fallout conversions for NWN.  I haven't made any plans for additional generic NWN stuff yet.

Yes, TF3DM has some very nice models. However, I had some qualms about using them because of the usage licenses. Far too many of them are "Personal use only", so I mostly go to other sites rather than trying to chase down the owners and get permission. My two favorite sites are OpenGameArt and ShareCG.

Many of these come from commercially licensed games, so there is the persistent issue of 'right to use'.  Hopefully, it is acceptible to use these in a 13+ year old game with no intention of selling or producing a commercial product with these assets. Thank you for the links to the other two sites - I will definitely check those out.

Depends on the company. What games did these models come from? How new are they?
