I don't think they can get away with Leliana not giving some explanation to why she's no longer with a warden who was in a romance with her - or why she's not concerned that the Warden "disappeared."

Though the explanation will probably be, she feels obligated to help the Divine/Inquisition for reasons, and she has no idea where to look for her missing Warden, but she hopes helping the Inquisition could also lead to finding him/her.

Hold the phone: Zevran is in DA2? How did I miss him?

He's the subject of a side quest in Act 3.  The Crows are after him.  If Hawke chooses to side with Zevran, and can flirt with each other.  They can even have an "offscreen moment" (and Isabela can join them) if the Warden didn't romance Zevran in the first game.

Leliana is concerned with the Warden's disappearance.  She's with Cassandra in Kirkwall at the end, after all.  A Leliana that romanced the Warden should feel even more concerned.  Here's hoping that shows.

Yes, but life also happens. Just because they were in love in DAO doesn't mean they didn't have a falling out. I would still think lelianna or Morrigan might have something to say about the Warden, but I don't expect them to necessarily be happily ever after.  Heck my Warden kicked them both to the curb and married Anora to rule Ferelden.

As for my champion, he knew what hooking up with a pirate meant. Either a short passionate affair or she eventually would try to gut him for something he did previously.

Sorry, nothing in my characters play through of DAO or DA2 made me think the relationships were soul mate status. But I guess that is also in part because I really don't get much out of the whole romance gimick of DA.

Well i also thought that leliana/zevran/morrigan romances were rather short-term than long-term like alistair.

She still made it clear she was still dear to her in DA2. That doesn't necessarily mean it's still going on, but until proven otherwise I'm just thinking it's like Jaheira's epilogue in Baldur's Gate 2. Not always together, but never entirely apart.

"Theirs was an unshakable union, and while duty or adventure might seperate them for even years at at a time, they always returned to one another."

Good post. I think Jaheira might be a good comparison, and I could see Bioware going a similar route with Leliana and the Warden.

The beauty of it is, it's open to interpretation.

I mean, I could imagine the Warden and Leliana travelling together frequently.  Especially after Awakening.

I'd like to think that while Leliana was meeting Hawke in the chantry, my Cousland was a the Hanged Man, being regaled with stories of the recent Qunari invasion by this funny little dwarf with a flair for hyperbole... :D

This headcanon has some merit if you play a Dalish Warden, seeing as Merrill goes on about how she could have sworn she just saw Mahariel in Lowtown right before Leliana shows up. :S

We need to know what happened to the Warden first before getting a good answer to this.

The last thing we know is that the Warden is missing.

Or as Yoda would say, "Missing, the Warden is".

You know, I wouldn't mind her answering an Inquisitor who asked about her surname, that it's now that of a romanced Warden.

If not, we'd just get her real surname, which we still don't know. Either way, nice treat for the fans.

That would bother me. Just because you're in a relationship with someone - even a medieval game - doesn't mean you've married them.

I would hope that my Mage Warden and Leliana are still together. After all they went through with the Blight and the love triangle with Morrigan...I think it is just as people were saying, fighting their own battles but still in love. Same with any Wardens who romanced Morrigan.

Also really wouldn't work very well for most non-Cousland Wardens. And female Wardens in general, depending on how this works in Thedas.

I'm sorry but Leliana and Isabela, were my favorites...I had to deal without Leliana in DA2...now it seems like I will in Inquisition...just be dealing with another NPC...I really don't like that idea, I haven't found anyone (besides Isabela) that was as good as Leliana, assassin, thief, archer, everything..

I thought one of the Devs said the previous romances were going to continue in Inquistion

I hope thats true one thing I am not wanting is B-ware using the extra mediums "Comics and Such" to influence Inquisition I won't mind small changes but by no means will I be ok that Alistair cheated on my Queen Cousland his wife with Isabella granted they did have a threesome in the Pearl.

But I hope Bioware tries to be respectful of our characters and while its true they are not ours anymore the one thing that is still ours is our unique Stories that encompass our playthroughs of Origins and DA2.

On Topic

My Dalish Archer Torwen romanced Leliana I hope they are still together in inquistion but only time will tell I guess.

But to just end the romances on a whim sucks and heres hoping B-Ware won't go that route I do at least.

All this Leliana talk makes me reconsider which Warden I'm gonna use for DA:I. I now feel like going for the Warden that stayed with Leliana - just to hear her talk about them.

It's just occurred to me that one of my wardens who romanced Leliana was the female mage Cullen had unrequited love for. I wonder if they'll bring that up? Well, I know who my first background is going to be, just in case they do.

I'd like romanced Leliana to flirt with the Inquisitor if he/she starts it and then to mercilessly dump him or her stating that she's eternally faithful.

Once I get the Keep, I think I might actually make my Warden an ultimate sacrifice, who romanced Leliana (currently it's a Dalish who let Loghain sacrifice). I just like the idea of Leliana coming into her own AFTER my Warden is gone. They were similar characters in my playthrough.. archer rogues.

I don't really want to bother with thinking what happened to my Warden anymore or what her romances (like leliana) might develop into. They've ruined most opportunities for a Warden to come back in any significant way. Might as well kill them off.

I'm more surprised how Morrigan managed to lose the Warden. Sure, Lelianna loves the W. and will try to find W. if she can but I can imagine them losing each other's tracks due to jobs. Morrigan, though? Did he slip to the wrong dimension or what?

That would be hilarious. The minute they step in the mirror, he slips into some other vortex.

The Warden ran off with a Desire Demon.

I honestly don't want Leliana to constantly mention her relationship with the Warden unless it's relevant to the conversation, and I certainly don't want the Warden to make a cameo appearance for the sake of it. A subtle mention or two is fine, but I think they should leave it at that, if they choose to mention it at all.

This.

It certainly shouldn't be something that pops up in every conversation. It should be mentioned once where it is relevant, and then there can be some dialogue options where the Inquisitor can ask Lellana about the Warden. After that, he or she wouldn't really be mentioned much again.

Well, since this isn't Dragon Age: Leliana's boyfriend from 10 years ago, I think we'll be fine on that front.
