I don't know if there have been other threads about this already. I haven't seen anyone recently though, so I'll start this.

It's an option I'd like to have. I wonder if the character creator will allow us to do that, either with a slider like Dragon's Dogma and Saints Row or 3-4 premade body types like SWTOR. I don't think it would mess up the animations, not more than the usual clipping and weirdness caused by the race height difference.

It doesn't make sense for a rogue to have the same build of a two-handed warrior, and all women have been stick figures so far, even warriors. My vanguard Shepard's (who spent most of her time headbutting, charging into enemies and punching them to death) scrawny build made me really wish for a muscle slider.

What do you all think?

As far as I recall, the devs said the implementation of changing body features would be slim and something they were not currently pursuing. But that was last year and things could have changed. Would like for the feature to be available in game.

Ouch, I missed that. A slider is unlikely then, it would take longer to implement than a couple of premade body types to choose from. Oh well, I'm sure there will be mods soon enough.

The twitter thread made it clear that there will be one unique body type for each gender per race, and that would be it. So all our male qunari will looked like a roided-up muscled giant, etc.

Well that's a pity. It would have been interesting to make slender qunari rogues, bulky female elf warriors and fat mages :D

It would be great if the developers implemented something similar but well, is not so bad to dream

Well, if I had to choose between different body types and different races to be available I'm glad I get to play different races. I like the idea, don't get me wrong, but in a game each new body model costs resources, so even having two options for each gender of each race would be doubling the amount of resources they need to put into everything.

Blame the cinematics. They are one of the reasons that have been given and are the one that makes the most sense as the ultimate bottleneck.

The new engine should be able to handle morphing armor pieces, but I doubt that animated interactions between characters and/or with the environment (other than combat and walking, which don't need to be quite that precise anyway) can be automated remotely enough.
