I WANT A CHOICE OF FANCY DRESSES. FANCY ORLESIAN DRESSES AND MASKS.
Seriously, I was so mad in MotA because the outfit they used for Hawke was clearly only designed with male Hawke in mind and look SO RIDICULOUS on female Hawke. Not because it was pants-- disappointing, but ultimately fine with me--but the design and proportions in relation to female Hawke's model.
But THIS...this is Orlais! And a fancy new engine! And we're faction leaders, not somebody trying to break into a house! WE MUST LOOK GOOD. I want minimum 2 dresses and 2 suits, suitable for both male and female inquisitors.
I would also be okay with race-specific clothing, since that makes sense and is still also variety.
I know it won't happen. But I can dream. Of qunari in frilly dresses and marie antionette wigs.

It will be good to have so many nobles gathered in one place. Bringing them the Maker's mercy will be so much easier.

If there is a ball, part of me wants it to be like an Ocean's 11 thing where all your companions and advisers are there having a part to play in your objective. Inquisition's 13!

Would be funny if the inquisition actually had to do some kind of fundraiser to get to the ball, to afford the dresses and be prestigious enough
Cassandra: What do we do now Inquisitor, we need power and money to enter that ball.
Inquisitor: Well, we just have to sells cookies i guess...

I want a dance minigame like in San Andreas.
As well as the ability to bust some sick moves and the Shepard Shuffle.

My Qunari Inquisitor will be somewhat awkward in a ball, towering over the nobles and interrogating the poor servants over confectionary.
"YOU Elf!"
"Yes your eminence, please don't hurt me!"
"What are these small baked things?"
"Umm cookies your eminence. We're so sorry if you don't like them I'll.."
"Pashara! These are delicious, I would like more please."
Oh my god Qunari Inquisitor is basically Thor in another life!!
Thor: What is this drink? I like it! *smashes cup to floor where it shatters* ANOTHER!

If you do it correctly you gain approval; if not well you gotta do something else.

It'll be nice if they implemend a dance real time sequence with the companion of your choice.

Eh thats too much in my opinion, i want to be able to enjoy the moment, not worry about approval. Plus not all of our companions would care about dancing

I like the idea of some romances giving you higher approval for taking them out on the floor because they enjoy dancing, others not really caring for dancing but willing to dance with you because they love you, and others who you spin around the floor as friends, just for fun. Maybe you get the chance to dance with 3 people, and who you choose effects relationships and whatnot? Then you could choose between socializing with companions or diplomacy with foreign leaders.

Honestly, I am not seeing the diplomacy thing here. Balls are public social events, and just not very good places for diplomatic negotiations. All the important people are there to be seen and to interact socially. Not that they are entirely apolitical, but they are, if it's a high-status ball, at best a matter of public diplomacy (who's in, who's out, demonstrations of unity, amity, trying to impress foreign guests etc.).
Try conducting diplomatic negotiations while you're continually harassed by less important people who want to speak you, or worse, equals or superiors who want to have a short chat. In a crowded, noisy hall.
Today is the great Court Ball, which, as always, will be a rather arduous pleasure...
The ball was very crowded, particularly large numbers of ladies, dancing as well, not many pretty ones among them, not hot at all. I was in my room by 12.
(from the letters of Franz-Josef, Emperor of Austria, King of Hungary etc. to his wife Elisabeth,'Sissi')
Gossiping, dancing, perhaps a minor incident leading to a challenge to a duel - sure. I think that's going to be the big challenge, making it sufficiently busy, noisy and memorable. The scene from the trailer was, ahem, low-intensity (it doesn't have to be an Austrian court ball with 2,000 guests, but this was extremely un-crowded) and I hope for a much more livelier one in the final game.
Given this, political negotiations are perhaps best kept for separate scenes behind closed doors, not just because of considerations of 'realism', but to keep the scene focused. Plenty of ways to spice things up, or end it with a bit of a bang.

Well, that is the sort of diplomacy I want. If you're seen dancing with the leader of the Circle Loyalists, that's going to send a very big political message. Then, of course, there's backroom deals that take the guise of VIP areas. And a short conversation on the dance floor with someone could help to strengthen certain political ties. Historically, balls have always been great places for various forms of diplomacy. I might be putting too much stock on the one in game, but I think it would be cool if I wasn't.
Also, I really want to dance with my LI, given the chance.

I will be disappointed if there isn't an Orliesian Ball quest. I see it as our opportunity to play "The Game" we've been told so much about.
My dream for it, it to be required to bring one companion with you - but its not limited to love interests - just whoever you think is most useful/hilarious to put in that situation. Not to say there can't be some squee moments if you do bring your love interest (and there should be!), but I think it would be awesome to drag Iron Bull along with me.
But yea, along with all the awesome moments your companion would bring, it would be full of talking to people to gather information, get the to do what you want, etc. There are definitely not enough talkie quests...
