The ability to pierce armour with the right mods and the fact that it's hitscan are not even close to unique qualities.

 

The only thing it has that other hitscan shotguns don't is a higher than normal stagger chance.

 

It's also the lightest shotgun but in all honesty I don't mind giving up 40% more recharge speed to bring the Wraith, which means a fair bit more firepower. Given that the weight increase for certain mods doesn't work on vanilla weapons, the Wraith remains light no matter what you do with it.

 

It's viable on Platinum, but then I would say everything is viable with the right setup. Even the Shuriken and Avenger.

In that case you should know that projectile weapons already ignore armour without mods. Shield gate too for most of them, not that a shotgun really cares about shield gate.

 

As a hitscan weapon, it does have the benefit of being able to pierce through solid objects however. This means that it can benefit from multi-hit bugs on certain enemies like the Atlas.

 

Combined with the ability to get headshots it gives it some much needed damage compared to projectile weapons, but unfortunately not other hitscan shotguns which enjoy the same benefits.

We all know the Shuriken is a beast when it comes to stripping shields. It's an unwritten law around here.

Though I do have it @ X now, maybe I should give it another chance.....probably not. But maybe.

 

In my experience the stagger is unreliable, the damage is underwhelming, it doesn't shoot all that fast, so there's nothing special about it. 

 

It's pretty good @ holding my Omni-blade, I'll give you that.

 

The Disciple is overshadowed in every way by the Talon, except for use as a sword handle.

 

IMO, they should have given the Disciple a bonus against shields and barriers.  Would have made sense, as it's essentially a gun developed for biotics.

I shall have to try this. I usually run him w/ Piranha or GPS, but he is GI after all so I can imagine it's pretty brutal.

 

Can you RC w/ TC/proxy mine?

 

Edit: That's a dumb way to ask that. What I'm saying is, is there any timing involved w/ it or do you just shoot > cloak/pm > shoot again, like w/ the Piranha
