Mass Effect is a game I would like to see with some online mode. I dont think Fable 2's idea of having other guys playing with you on your story would be ideal as it may make the harder difficultys so much easier. Just simple TDM would be good enough. You could have seperate classes which are a different race each as humans/turians can be soldiers, Salarians could be something of a scout (lighter) and Krogans could be some big ass support guy with a machine gun and rocket launcher. Or another way would be you could pick a race (human, Batarian, Elcor....) from some starting screen, customise the face and the armour and just join battles with no special benefits to your race. The only problem is that implementing the Biotics and Tech attacks would be hard as in the campaign your given like 8-10 abilitys so its hard too choose but the time stops so you can think on what to use. But online that wouldnt work so maybe if your given four abilitys (of your choice) so you can flick through them easyerly.

Another idea is just to have gears of war 2's Horde mode where you and two-four guys take on waves of geth by taking cover and moving about. there simple ideas which I dont think will be seeing in ME2 but its just something to have some online combaility.

Don't worry about the bashers... they are too scared Mass Effect 3 might be turned into a multiplayer game. Which it wont.



There is a very good chance though that after Mass Effect 3 there will be more games with the same universe - they would be stupid not too - and there is a good chance some of those will have multiplayer. I for one would love it.

Before fightin in the online games you can talk to the oppsition and "persuade" them to surrender. If your charm skill is low... well...good luck against his lvl. 1000 Krogan Battlemaster. : (

Are you trying to be an ****? because your doing a good job. I know most people see that halo 3 is played by kids so when ever they dont like somone there gunna think he plays it.

Halo started off as an offline game so why did it become online? Halo and mass effect are both shooters so I see no reason why mass effect shouldnt apply a multiplayer mode. Sure game such as Portal, a multiplayer mode wouldnt make much sense as the objective is something really to be played by your self rather than others. Multiplayer is just something to keep people going. I mean because playing ME1 through again and again does loose its touch. WHile multiplayer usaully as something new because your playing agaisnt other people who decide what happens by what they do.

They could easily do it. (Well, not programming wise, I'm sure, but within context of the game.)



It's a 3 player co-op, just AI controlled, anyway. Just don't expect to be making any decisions if you're not Shepard.

Also who made you people king? You cant just say no its not going to happen thats the companys decision so you could at least give reasons why there wouldnt be a multiplayer then just acting like children and calling it a Dumb idea.

No, just no, now that you just put the thought in my head makes me worry.  Bioshocks developers decided to do this and I think it's gona suck.  Just stick to what they're already really good at and improve that.  Multiplayer would make me resent the game.

I find myself astounded at the close mindedness of some people on these forums some days. I can see where your going with this thread, but there will be no multiplayer in the Mass Effect trilogy. Mass Effect is a roleplaying game that is meant to focus on the actions of one player, its just not the type of game that would be very good multiplayer.

Anyway, ignore the offensive comments on this thread, id love to see Multiplayer in the Mass Effect Universe. It will probably never happen until the trilogy is done with.



Also: Is it usually assumed that only complete idiots play shooters? That is an incredibly ignorant thing to assume.

Yeah I will agree that bioshock 2's multiplayer does look rather srange as the game is sort of a horror game but the multiplayer makes it look like some crazy cartoon. But hell that doesnt make the game bad. Sure the online sucks but oh well. Some games multiplayer wouldnt make much sense but I dont see what possibly be so wrong about mass effect having a Team death match game. Sure not having bland, Capture the flag or Deathmatch games as there just basic FPS modes but something with a bit more mass effect feel to it.

@tr00per117, many people on these forums dislike that Mass Effect 2 is being made more like a conventional 3rd person shooter than Mass Effect, they are quite vocal about this I'm sure going through the first 3 pages of the forum you can find at least 1 thread talking about how Mass Effect isn't a real RPG and it's too much like Halo, Gears of War, etc.



Now these same people are going to be highly resistant to the idea of dropping any pretense of being an RPG and just making the game a straight shooter.



Personally I think an ME shooter could work, something in the line of CoD, Halo, etc. could be made and made well but I would not want them tacking it on to ME2 or 3. The Mass Effect trilogy are stand alone singleplayer games and it should stay that way. My main reason being I'm a firm believer of picking to something and sticking with it. If you want to make a multiplayer shooter make one, if you want to make a singleplayer story driven shooter/rpg be my guest, don't try making both at once, at best only one is going to come out any good.

personally speaking, I'd prefer the extraneous code be put into extending the SINGLE-player campaign.

Makes sense. I was just hearing a message that was saying that Mass Effect would never be an online game in anyway. Ok maybe not in the trilogy as this may confuse things a bit. But at least I know its not hopeless, just nothing we will be seeing any time soon.

i hope they dont turn it into some kind of MMO like KOTOR i was lookin forward to a 3rd kotor game to find out wat happened to revan, i rekon it would kill the ME series if they did this

There's way too much crowd control in Mass Effect to allow a death match feature. You can keep other players locked out indefinitely. You vastly overestimate how fun it would be to get caught in an endless string of throw/lift/singularity/stasis.
