Of course, I suppose the movie might simply take place in the Mass Effect universe, rather than be about the events of the games. That would be better.

I don't think Mass Effect would work as a TV show. It's a cinematic experience.Lightice_av wrote...
I would prefer a TV series, myself. Obviously it needs to be a prequel - about the First Contact War and humanity's entrance to the galactic society, perhaps?

they also made a DOOM movie and a resident evil one. the bad ones outweigh the good ones. ME would be very hard to turn into a movie, if halo couldnt do it with the fanbase they have itll be near impossible for something with the scope of mass effect to be turned into something the average movie goer will enjoy

That would probably be the best idea since they could go into depth about Mass Effect and Protheans and etc. Then maybe the story of Soverign BUT from another groups POV. Unfortunately sci-fi programs don't do well on TV. It *might* have a shot if it were done with the same production values and casting and writing as the reboot of BattleStar Galactica, but I think that show was a fluke when it comes to original production by ScyFy network. Maybe a premium channel like Showtime or HBO.

But then again, that wouldn't be ungodly exciting. I'd also be afraid the movie producers would screw up a bunch of things that are obvious in the game, thus pissing off gamers everywhere. I mean, look what happened to the Eragon movie. That movie was ALL wrong, it was just terrible. If they did that to Mass Effect I'd have to tear my eye's out and scream at the screen for the duration of the movie

I agree that it would be cool if it was about how humans entered galatic society and whatnot.

Tell that to Battlestar Galactica. Mass Effect is all about complex, slowly developing storylines that mix and converge. A movie would be far too straightforward and limited medium for a story worth the setting.
I've been thinking about a ME TV series for a long time; a prequel that starts with a prologue about discovering the Prothean ruins on Mars and ends with the establisment of the human embassy on the Citadel. The plotlines could include the First Contact War, Captain Anderson's career, Saren's start of darkness, Admiral Grissom's life, the story of the Illusive Man and the birth of Cerberus...
There hasn't yet been a single seriously good video game movie, but no-one has tried a quality TV show to the date...

How about they make it like a prologue? The first Mass Effect book was amazing. It could be about Captain Anderson's adventures, it just better be financed... stingyness in a movie is well recognized.
When a Mass Effect movie comes to mind, my head is filled with thousands of possibilities and epicness. I should start a forum about ME movie ideas.... Yeah, I think I'll go do that!
