Have to say people really really need to chill down about the possiblity of a canon sheperd on the old big screen. I personally would love to see a canon version of the game be made into a movie. My decisions are important to me and all, but no matter what the story itself is pretty much the same no matter what choices you make along the way.
Mass Effect movie!?

If there will be a movie, you can bet it's not about the story we're currently playing. Not only it would be a huge waste of potential, it would also break Bioware's promise of not having any "true" canon out of the various choices available in the games.

hmm...would the story about Anderson and how his chance to becoming a spectre was blown away by Saren make good movie material?

The mere mentioning of his name makes me foam at the mouth.

That's already been done in the novel Revelation. I hope for something entirely new. The reason why game movies have sucked is that they've tried to mould an interactive story into a static one. That mistake needs to be corrected if we ever want to have a good video game movie.
Though I still say that a high-quality limited length TV series would be a better idea - there's so much more that could be told in a 13 hour-long episodes than in a two-hour movie.
