Will the 360/PS3 versions of DA:I be nerfed/inferior compared to the PC/new console versions of the game?

A while ago I made a tread about potentially getting a new console primarily for DA:I.

From the feedback to that tread & trough further thought I decided against it as it would be Ridiculous to spend €400 minimum to play an up-scaled version of DA:I.

Add to that the Witcher 3 being belayed, getting a new system was no longer on the card's. The only other game I want to play this year is Pillars of Eternity & my PC will handle that just fine.

It's just that in a new interview with Cameron Lee, it was implied that the PC & new console version's will be "Radically different" compared to DA:I on last gen consoles. link courtesy of user "Back_For_You_My_Love"s tread "Over 100 hours" Thanks man  B)

http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2014/04/24/biowares-sneak-peek-at-dragon-age-inquisition/

Here's the interesting bit.

In fact, sometimes developers, who build the game on a PC, even went too far with their ambitions to make “Dragon Age: Inquisition” as realistic as possible. One key development rule was to remember that the games, which Lee says will be radically different and more detailed on the new consoles, still need to play in versions for the Xbox 360 and PS3.

“What we have to do is find ways to bring it down to the last generation of consoles without affecting fundamentals of the story,” he said.

Even on those seventh-generation consoles, “you’ll definitely see massive differences in visuals and immersions,” Lee said.

I knew that the graphics would take a hit & that there would be more loading screen's in 7th gen versions which is fine, I'm not a graphics ****** :police: . But this got me curious if there are any other features that are severely downsized on the 360/PS3 version.

Frostbite apparently scales V.Well which is great & Bioware wouldn't purposelessly make a Crappy port  but if the last gen versions of DA:I are crippled with tonnes of loading screen's or any other annoying cross gen limitations I'll probably just hold off until I get a new PC.

Anyone any thoughts on this? Are you pissed that the Old tech is holding Bioware back or are you concerned about a potentially bad port for 360/PS3 players?

That is pure marketing speak for, "PC/X1/PS4 versions will look superior to 360/PS3 versions".

As for "old tech" its not old quite yet. Remember, we're still in the infancy of this new generation of consoles.

If anything, as someone who owns an X1, I should be pining for the future game that drops 360/PS3 support entirely and is made with at-the-time maximum potential on PC/X1/PS4.

Right now though, that wouldn't make much sense. There are a little under 15 million total X1s & PS4s sold and out in the wild right now, much less than the amount of 360s and PS3s. Makes sense that they have to keep themselves in check and bring things into perspective for them.

Yes, I believe the last generation version will be inferior. But trust me, considering the cost to produce games nowadays, don´t expect anything radically different. The new generation´s versions will probably just look more polished, with better textures for clothes, having faster loadings, running at higher resolutions.

The PC version will probably be the best, but not substantially. At least until modders start toying around.

Not really, in terms of gameplay and other stuff like that it will be equal, in terms of ambience, graphics, visual effects, more npc's in the world etc and stuff like that it will be somewhat inferior but that's not really a deal breakers for me.

Its really just market speak, and they've already said the differences would be fundamentally the same on every consule while trying to hype the new systems abit, i'm really not to impressed with early next gen stuff atm and don't really want to spend that much on just for graphics and some ambience and other minor thing's like that.

Pretty sure BioWare has already said the change will be mostly aesthetics, not actual gameplay.

I do know the zooming function was cut from ps3 (maybe 360) for DAO and maybe DA3. Inventory was also abit harder to do in ps3.

I doubt the gameplay will be changed in any significant way, if you're concerned about aesthetic degradation, well the cosest comparison we can get right now is Battlefield 4. If this helps anticipate the kind of Visual gap between the new platforms.

As much as I want to make myself seem like I was making a sophisticated poke at how similar all modern FPS look, I'll be honest, I done goofed up. I'm in the process of editing with a proper screenshot right now, finding a good resolution is tough!

Yeah something about "more shrubbery" in the new console version and crap like that. I wouldn't worry about it.

I will most likely be getting a new console though - I'm going to want a few games for it eventually, so why not commence the experience with DAI. :D

I've been worried about this, but as long as its only looks that are lesser on 360/ps3 and no actual content cut, that's fine by me.

Tell me I got it right the second time.

A billion comparisons of X1 and PS4, A lot of PC >>>>> Everything Else, but only  a handful of OldConsole/New Console, and fewer still useable. I'm not too thrilled about the one I settled on as it is.

Graphics probably won't be as nice but otherwise I doubt it.

This will be the norm for a while I'm guessing. Games that feature on both Current Gen and Last Gen won't be as good as they could be. This was the case for AC Black Flag. The new AC - Unity, is PS4/X1 only and from what has been shown of the gameplay thus far, it's looking quite amazing.

Just take a look at metal gear solid ghosts on ps3.

Graphics will be amazing; albeit not as good as hight end pc or next gen console.

I'd be more concerned with the UI

Hopefully modding will be a possibility. I'd love to load the game up with a few choice ENB mods.

I would expect the 360 and PS3 versions to look significantly worse than games exclusively developed for the 360 and PS3. So putting up the best-looking 360 and PS3 games is probably not that good of a benchmark.

The big problem for consoles is the crap memory. That's we're where you'll see reduced features.

I mean that it hasn't been that long since new consoles have arrived for people to upgrade to. The "last" gen consoles were "current" not too long ago.

My honest opinion is based on the other Frosbite 3 games for PS3/360, it will run fairly rough in spots on PS3/360. It will be inferior from a technical standpoint, IMO. I personally believe their focus will be mostly on PS4/X1/PC with the PS3/360 still being playable but the very obvious inferior versions from every technical point.

Battlefield 4

Spoiler

That is like the most horrible comparation I've ever seen, smells like Digital Foundry.

BF4 is painful to play on PS3, feels more like a 90's low res PowerPoint presentation than an actual videogame.

The last consoles had been painfully outdated for years already, we've seen crippled games since ~2010.
