ive had glitches here and thier but ive heard mass effect 1 doesnt like windows 7 that much, it has to be something technical, you should definatly contact customer support man

back up your save game and reinstall the game. Next time make multiple saves, i keep at least 1 save game every major thing i do and quicksave all the time (cuz you tend to get stuck in elevators and die alot in the harder difficulties)

fyi, i am also running on win7 and everything is fine for me. going thorugh my 3rd play through to reach 60 before me2 arrives.

Try to upload your save to a file hosting site and let someone else try it out? If you're talking ME1 I can test your save out, I don't have ME2 yet.

From what I remember... I saw exact same problem as yours and it was fixed by typing something into console, I don't remember what... I had this too, but just loaded older autosave, quicksave or save, don't remember anymore. You need to google it I guess.
