I wonder what instrumentation will be used. In my head I'm imagining something like this...
You can only see three of the four staffs that I was able to record but If you look at the blue underlines on the very next page you can see the names of the four instruments. Look close enough, cross your eyes and you can sort of make out the names. To me it looks like they say "Vln I", "Vln II", "Vla", and "V--" (I can't really tell what the last one is). Two violins and at least one viola.
There are two bass clefs there. Don't violas usually use alto or treble clefs?
They use alto clef normally. Could just be that in this particular score a bass clef was used. Who knows? My mind could be making up the 'Vla" to satisfy the small part of me that did learn to play the viola many years ago. ![]()

Might be a Violoncello. We usually use alto/bass when not pretending we are violinists (meaning playing in thumb position).
I would guess it’s a string quartet composition: The genre of “courtly music” is very string quartet friendly.

Aha, good call. That's where I went wrong. I was looking for a "C" instead of "Vc" to indicate cello. Thanks for helping my brain sort that out.
I always enjoy a good string quartet.
Sounds pretty, I like it.
Good job!
After looking at the picture even more: Yep: It IS a string quartet. The lower part marked Vc. is a typical string quartet cello part (meaning being a bass)
And this was my application to the CSI BSN junior music investigator position ![]()

My eyes are seeing the same thing.

Hello there,
since this thread is about the Orlais music theme I hope this is hte right place to ask.
The Orlais theme seems extrem familiar to me, esspecially the first half with the violins growing together, raising the tension and then releasing hte tension with short deeper notes.
I hope this is making any sense to you music folks. My last real music lesson was quit some time ago and I don't realy know how to describe it in english.
My main problem here is, I feel 500% familiar with the sound of this theme and I am cracking my head where I know it from. I'm pretty sure I know this song from a movie or maybe some famous classic music.
I'm lost and I hope so much someone can help me to find out of what this reminds me of. Maybe someone got the same feel about it.
Best greetings ![]()
*nods* I've played piano for years but never could play by ear. I need sheet music. i'm sure I could go off these and pick it out,
Now. Would anyone be a dear and give me the Dark Solas/Dread Wolf themes for piano on sheet music? I would sell my firstborn.
