I know Varric is interested in female dwarves but not seen anything about males.
Cullen, rather kill him less he changes my first play thru perception of him.
Vivienne seems too career ridden to be one.
Sera and Scribble I cant make an opinion on but possible Sera is bi.
Dorian and Solas same unsure but Dorian maybe gay.
Iron Bull and Cole are possibly not LI. Bull could be quantum only though as Varric is interested in only dwarves himself.
Im not sure who Id be interested in. Besides Cole, Cassandra, Sera, Varric and Cullen, is there anywhere else that the others popped up someplace? I haven't read books yet and more than likely will before October.

First off who is DMHG? Secondly there are three more companions not yet announced so it's possible one of them will be romanceable. I'm hoping Hawkes Cousin with the bow is a companion/romance option but that's just me.

I have a sneaking suspicion Varric with either NOT be romancable (Since its been said returning companions are not romancable)
Or if he is a romance he will restricted to Female Dwarf Inquisitors.
Actually that doesn't apply to all returning companions, just returning LIs. Basically it means you won't be romancing Alistair(confirmed to make an appearance of some sort), Morrigan(ULTRA-confirmed to playing a role in the story) or Leliana(Major featured character). I think the rule might bend a bit for unromanced Zevran and/or Isabela. Afterall, they did it in DA2. But those will be flings at best. Bioware just doesn't want to deal with love triangles where two of the 'angles' are Player Characters. It's just a bad idea, as I'm sure most of us can agree.
But Varric is a very popular character, fans have espoused the idea of him as a LI since before DA2 was released. Bioware even considered having a min-romance between Varric and Hawke at the very end of DA2, but decided against it. It I recall correctly, at the end of DA2, when Leliana and Cassandra walk away, Varric would meet Hawke in a back alley, and Hawke would ask 'Did you tell them about us?'. Don't remember what Varric's response would have been. But I'm glad they didn't do it. If Varric is to be a romance, I'd want it to be done well.
And I do think Varric will be a romance for dwarves(male or female) in DA:I. I also think that Iron Bull will be available for Qunari Inquisitors. It would be a great opportunity for Bioware to give characters orientations without making it about gender.

1) This is DHMG:

His name means Dramatic Hands Mustache Guy, referencing his concept arts.
2) Here is the crew:

I think my worse case scenario is a 1/3/1 where
The 2 bi women are:
Scribbles and Sera
The straight man was Cullen
The 1 bi guy was Solas
The gay guy was Grey warden
And I could live with it but still disapointing. Doubtful since Cassandra is a romance option.
I would love personally...if 2/2/2 also unrealistic, but hey as long as I realize that a girl can dream right?
1 lesbian is Cassandra
1 bi woman is Vivienne
1 straight woman is Scribbles
1 gay man is Dorian
1 bi man is Varric
1 straight man is Solas

So if my guesses turn out to be true, there will be:8 romanceable characters(6 of them party members)
2 Exclusively heterosexual(Cullen and Cass)
2 Exclusively homosexual(Scribbles and Feathers)
2 Race-specific(Varric and Iron Bull)
2 Any-sex, Any-gender(Sera and Dorian)
These guesses would mean there are anywhere from 4-5 romances in every playthrough. Either gender gets 4 and Qunari and Dwarf of either gender would get 5.
While I would love this, I don't think they'd make two companions that can only be romanced by a certain race, considering most people seem to just play human anyway.
Also I would give my left ****** for both varric and iron bull to be romanceable, dayum.

I dont remember if Sera is that assassin in DLC, if it is then she is bi. Female Hawke flirted enough to where they left it open that Sera and her could been together if she was part of the main line.
That was Tallis who is a qunari duel wielder. She's also a redhead. Sera is a thief or something and an archer. And Sera's blonde...

I have gone back and forth over this in my head. Right now, I'm thinking:
Cullen - straight
Dorian - bi
Solas - gay
Scribe girl - straight
Cassandra - bi
Sera - lesbian
I think both NPCs will be the straight options this time.
I'm still iffy on Dorian vs Solas, but I feel like Solas is DG's self insert, so I'm gonna say he's gay.

Must have akward bromances like a qunari and varric, or cole
![]()
I didn't find the friendship (I hate the word "bromance") awkward between Varric and even my fem Hawke. They were the best of friends, and although you do get the golden heart icon once with him, it was never awkward. Hell, the two of them laughed it off in a way that felt natural.
On-topic: At this point, it's looking to me like this. This is what I expect:
Cullen--Straight
Scribbles--Lesbian
Sera--Lesbian
Dorian-Gay
Solas--Bisexual
This is what I'd like, with this current system:
Scribbles--Straight
Solas--Straight
Cullen--Bi
Cass--Bi
Vivienne--Lesbian
Dorian--gay
I suspect that yet again, because BioWare has this strange notion that you can't be best friends with your lover, Varric is going to be hung-up on a woman that he hasn't seen outside of a dream (the comic Until We Sleep) in at least 10 years.
It just feels so compartmentalized. "Well, Varric is going to be your best friend, but might not let go of Bianca." Excuse me, but why? I married my best friend and we still treat each other as such. Especially when we argue, since we both know that one is usually more forgiving of friends than of lovers.
My friend Izzard (it's really a nickname for her) married her best (male) friend of 6 years and that friendship didn't magically go away because they now share the same last name. Here's an idea: Rather than making it either just good friends or just lovers, why not a story arc that has you and your best friend falling in love?

Cassandra: Bi
Cullen: Bi
DHMG: Gay
I haven't planned romancing rest at least without getting more info of them.

Just my opinion, but I think some romance are going to be restricted by race. I hope to be wrong, is just a feeling. but if these characters are romancable:
Cullen: straight
Cassandra: straight
Sera: bi
Scribble: lesbian
Vivienne: bi
Varric straight/bi, I don't know, but restricted to only dwarf/maybe elf
Dorian (or Freddie, as I like to call...people of the Solas discussion, you have "ruined" forever this character to me
): gay
Solas: bi
Iron Bull: bi but restricted to only human/Qunari.
quite hard to say, expecially about some characters we don't know nothing about.
But I can't help but think there would be others characters, and possibile romance outside the "inquisition group". It still bug me one of the recent interview (can't remember where exactly, I read a translation in a site) where there was mention of "romancing an enemy".
But maybe is just the flu who is influencing my thinking and memories.

Forgot to include her. I was running out the door when I posted that. Cass will probably be straight. I edited my post to reflect that. My bad.

I suspect that, yet again, because Bioware has some weird notion that you can't be best friends with your lover
Looks like someone forgot Garrus from Mass Effect. His relationship with Fem!Shep is pretty much the same as before, just with kissing and sex and the occasional inter-species awkwardness.
As for sexualities, I'm slowly leaning towards Cassandra being bisexual because of her comment about a Fem!Hawke being romantic. OTOH, I don't want Scribbles to be a lesbian because that could just end up a repeat of Samantha, who had a nice romance, don't get me wrong! I just think players would prefer the homosexual characters to be in their party for once.
The guys are harder. I have an extremely hard time picturing DHMG as straight thanks to his flamboyance, so that's bisexual at best. Cullen could go either way as a straight or a bi, though I will laugh so hard if Bioware trolls his fangirls by making him gay. Solas is someone I'd rather not have for a romance--someone earlier made a comment about him being like Mordin, so that's permanently colored my perception of him--but if he is he could be anything. Varric is straight and doesn't like humans, so he's out. At best he's a bicurious option for dwarves. Iron Bull seems bisexual to me, and I really want him as a romance, but I don't know if Bioware will go for it. Cole is definitely out, Grey Warden is unlikely.
So, what I think is going to happen (because it would be just my luck to only get the guys who don't appeal to me):
Cassandra: Bisexual
Scribbles: Straight
Sera: Lesbian
Cullen: Straight
Solas: Bi
DHMG: Gay
What I want to happen:
Cassandra: Bisexual
Scribbles: Straight
Sera: Lesbian
Cullen: Straight
Iron Bull: Bi
DHMG: Gay

My ideal right now would be Cullen as bi and Dorian as gay. I would take Solas as a runner up if Cullen is straight. As long as Dorian is either gay or bi, I'll be happy, though.

If "Dorian" is gay, it will be the first time I play as a dude for my 2nd playthrough.

I'd be interested in the Grey Warden if he was a romance option, but BioWare has been fairly predictable in which characters they offer as romances.
Humans and elves, young(ish) and conventionally attractive. I can't fault them for it. People have a wide range of desires, and BioWare goes with the ones that will satisfy the majority of players.

He doesn't look manly to me. I would love for all of them to be available, which won't happen of course. What I would like, for myself is IB for my fem Qunari, Varric...I'd make a fem Dwarf just for him, and and IB? What can I say? I'd love me some Qunari... I wouldn't say no to the Warden either, manly..
