I don't think he's stereotypically gay, and I'M gay.

I'd like Solas being Bi. I'm not Morrigan. I can share. ![]()
I guess I'd like a brawny warrior... I know there's Cullen, and while he annoyed the ever loving crap out of me in DA:O leading me to want to punch him repeatedly during just one conversation (I do like getting him flustered when playing mage origin though...), his character was very much improved in DA2...still, npc..not the same... I've never found DA elves to be particularly appealing, I can't figure out why...
I see someone said there are 3 unannounced companions somewhere? I could keep my hopes up...
my guesses:
Sera straight
Cassandra bi
Vivienne lesbian
Grey Warden / or Iron Bull straight
Solas bi
Dorian gay
---
and either Cullen as the exclusiv straight female option like they did with Sebsatian
or Cullen and Scribbles being bisexual
so, I hope for either 7 or 8 LI's this time
we got 4 LI's in DAO and 5 LI's in DA2. If we'll get 6 LI's in DAI it would still be a step back because NPC romances don't compensate companion romances. I don't think they'll do this. Cullen is either just additional content or we'll get 2 additional NPC romances. If so, both might be bisexual.
I think there's at least one elf who'll be available for both genders. I don't think, both elves will be bisexual, because of stereotypes. But since Cassandra seems to be most story important when it comes to female companions, I think she'll be available for everyone. Of course, this is just speculation. Maybe she's not more important than anyone else. But I think you'll get her near the beginning of the story line, so I would call her the main romance. If they want to give straight and lesbian gamers the same great experience, both groups should be able to get the "first woman" of the group, that I call "main romance". And lesbians already got two rogues (Leliana and Isabela) and only one mage (Merrill), while straight males got two mages (Morrigan and Merrill) and only one rogue (Isabela). So, I think they'll do it vice versa this time around. Vievienne is lesbian and Sera is straight.
It's more difficult when it comes to the boys. As I said, I think there's one bisexual elf. So, it remains Solas. Dorian might be gay (but to be honest, I have no clue. but there are many people who believes this.) I'm not quite sure, if the grey warden or Iron Bull will be the straight romance. Since, Cullen is available for female players they'll get at least one traditional handsome man. So, both Iron Bull and grey warden would make sense. Both of them are not commonly attractive, but that's okay, because there's still Cullen who fits with this image. I don't think, Varric will be an option. I think they give him a personal love story with Bianca. Cole isn't an option either.
but really...I'm not sure at all.
^^Make Solas straight and I'd be down with that.
Thinking about it, I don't think Scribbles is a lesbian LI because that would mean two of the LIs available for femquisitor are NPCs. I lean toward thinking she and Cullen might both be straight with the companopns being gay or bi.
This is my biggest hangup with my current theory. I don't want to believe BioWare would do that to us... ![]()
I have a gay friend who also has a huge crush on Varric, He'll be devastated... he likes manly men too...
I'll be annoyed if Cullen is straight in addition to a straight male companion. They did an extra straight guy last time. ![]()
I don't think he's stereotypically gay, and I'M gay.
So why do so many posts think he's the gay option?

People think either both elves or both NPCs will be bi for fairness issues. It's a deduction thing, mostly.
I'll be annoyed if Cullen is straight in addition to a straight male companion. They did an extra straight guy last time.
me too, but it'd still be better than 2/2/2...of course, best resolution would be 8 LI's with two NPC's being bisexual.

You didn't miss out on much re: Sebastian, Mort. Especially since all the delicious potential was thrown out with the Exalted March expansion. ![]()

What, you don't live for chaste marriages?
So why do so many posts think he's the gay option?
Because they think he's Dorian.
Dorian is also the name of the protagonist of a famous novel with homoerotic undertones, The Picture of Dorian Gray, written by a prominent homosexual author and playwright, Oscar Wilde.
Plus, his style and personal grooming are evocative of the "dandy" fashion, which Wilde also embodied.

What I enjoyed the most about Sebastian's romance sub-plot was the implication (in the rivalmance, at least) that he was considering marrying Viscountess Hawke... if only for the political alliance that would create between Kirkwall and Starkhaven.
I foolishly got my hopes up that one throw-away line would eventually go somewhere... and then they announced that they canned Exalted March. And that Hawke and all her companions were done. Sigh.
I need to toss my hat in this speculation ring.
Cassandra: All about the dong.
Varric: Voluntary Friend Zone. "It'll complicate things" he says... /crycry
Solas: Like a magnificent bear in the woods from which he hails, he'll "Eat" anything if he's hungry.
Sera: Total tease. Actually not interested in banging at all.
Dorian: Too occupied with Gunslinging Casting magicks and tuberculosis Homeland corruption. #Tombstonereference. Total tease like Sera.
Iron Bull: (Ancient)Greek as hell. Women are for procreation, men are for fun.
Cole: I have no memory of this guy, maybe he's a ghost or something.
Warden: 100% Lumberjack, if Dragon/Colossi Legs were tree trunks anyway. All about the Strange.
Viviene: Scissor Me timbers!
Cullen: Channels his inner Oberyn Martell. Everything pleases him greatly.
Scribbles: High aversion to dongs. Risk of children too great for this professional woman. But two chicks, now you're talkin!
Leliana: "I used to participate in romance like you, then I took a sword through the face."
Because they think he's Dorian.

I know who Dorian Grey is, I've read the book.
But these are all judgements about DHMG based on per-concieved ideas....so, stereotypes.
DHMG could be manly, and we're all just following stereotypes, thinking he's gay.
He is at least a stereotype of Freddy Mercury (from the mustachio to the haircut and dramatic hands).
I realized that when I was on youtube and clicked on this video clip (It's the video clip of Queen for I Want To Break Free).

It's not unusual for people to see literary references in all kinds of places.
And since media is well aware of these stereotypes (being responsible for inventing most of them), and frequently uses them as a form of visual shorthand, it's not at all unreasonable to form theories based on that evidence.
Virtually nothing in a book, film or video game is there by mistake.

He does kinda look like Freddie Mercury lol Doesn't get more stereotypical than that!

Maybe not in books and films, but there are a lot of things in video games that are mistakes, that the devs didn't think anything of, that fans run wild with.

Um... I literally posted my response a few posts up before seeing this LOL Obviously I agree. My friend also pointed out the similarities. She said he looks like a gay man from the 70s dream!
