I'm just wondering what about Dorian (mustache guy) makes anyone assume he is gay? As a magistrate he's likely either Straight or Bisexual I would think, given what we know about Tevinter, big on arranged marriage and such but open to having a paramour (kind of like Dorn in Song of Ice and Fire) which can be any gender. Was something said about him by a dev or is just that people think he's gay for no reason? I mean a lot of people are listing him as gay in their speculation so I was just wondering if I missed something. Not that I'd be up-set if he was gay (my main female character will likely romance Cullen) I'm just wondering.

how much content will i miss if my PC doesn't romance NPCs (quests, personality growth or whatever)? can't inquisitor just bromance every one of them without the awkward mushy stuff?

You'll miss about as much as you did in DAO and DA2: not a lot. If you don't like the romances, you're only missing some dialogue, roleplaying opportunities and a warm fuzzy feeling. Possibly some smooching and/or an awkwardly animated sex scene. Quests should still be available, as they were in the previous games.

As far as the lore goes...    

 

I don't understand why so many people base their guesses off of lore. Especially when what is stated in the lore is very much intwined in the structure of that society, of which these characters are not part of. City elves are married when they rech adulthood, Dalish and Dwarves are encouraged to breed to save themselves from extinction, Magisters want to forge alliences and pass on their magical talents, Nobles also want to pass on their titles and wealth.

 

The thing is, none of are companions are in their respective communities. Dorian is exiled, Sera is an underground firgurehead (possibly), etc. They - willingly or not - left their community and as such are free from the shackles of expectations. Even if they were raised in a certain way, which impacted their goals or world view, it still has nothing to do with sexuality. They could all go about bumming every second dude, or scissoring up all the single ladies they get their hands on. They could have a sham marige on the side, or just make babies for the fun of it, irrespective of their sexuality. 

 

I mean, the only assumption behind such a claim that I could accept is that "X is part of the lore and BioWare wants to show it off", but looking at Merril, Leliana and many other characters (or even NPCs in other BioWare games) they clearly try to make multi-layered characteres with a lot of depth and not just some cheesy stereotype.

Given that Cullen came across as initially gay when I first met him, I'd say he's going to be the "Bi" option. When the male warden is a mage there's a bit of flirtation with Cullen so that's my expectation. I also expect Cassandra to be bi as well.

 

Beyond that, I don't know the characters well enough yet to make a call.

Either way, I don't think Cullen ever expresses interest in males, ouvertly or otherwise. I mean the demon torments him with the female mage, but not the male. If anything he could torment him more with a guy if he likes him and he's also closeted.

I don't think there will be any race-specific romances, that doesn't seem to come up in the DA world at all. The only people that ever seemed to care were the elves in the Alienage on the City Elf Origin.

The Dalish really care about that.

Nope. The warden has 100% accurate gaydar. He only hits on males that are receptive (which will forever boggle me).

It's not a dating sim. I don't want to get spoiled in  the story, but I would like to know the LIs in advance. Since the game is still months away, I enjoy speculating in the mean time.

If we get two NPC romances then they will both probably be Bi to make up for the lost content of not having them as a companion.

Honestly, I'd rather them not have cullen as the mm romance. Not interesting in the least compared to the other potentials.

If he's bi, it's fine. It's fair for distribution purposes. I don't really think they'll make him gay after his part in the mage origin, though. It really wouldn't make much sense, he clearly had a thing for mage warden if you listen to him when he's trapped in the force field thing. He could be bi, but making him gay is just... what?

I agree with this. He's most likely bi. That was the tone I got from the character, but making him gay only would be an odd choice.
