Will it be possible to not equip heavy weapons on Shepard it makes no sense that a man trained in heavy weapons isn't trained in the use of assault rifles and other weapons?

Heavy weapons can be equipped by all classes.

It kinda makes sense. Really big guns don't require much precision, just sorta aiming in the general direction is good enough

assault rifles, shotguns, snipers all require more finesse to use properly, plus if every class could use all weapons, there wouldn't much point to be a soldier.

Seems a shame that they listened to complaints about having useless weapons on your back and removed them for ME2 (i.e. no SG, AR or SR for adept), but then totally negate that by forcing us (if its true) to carry a heavy weapon.

Your going to use a HW. HW aren't useless at all. If you don't use them...then that's your decision. But there are alot of cool and interesting HW so not using them seems to be...dumb. Who doesn't wanna nuke enemies?! Come on!

I get the feeling that heavy weapons are far from useless. I think they are the replacement for the grenade system. It gives some extra firepower vs the no doubt biotic/tech resistant opponents that will be thrown in.

Umm soldiers get all ammo times and bullet time.

Also, your argument makes no sense. It's much easier to use a conventional fire arms than heavy weapons, which generally require a decent amount of training to use/aim properly.

Who cares guys, not everything has to make sense. I don't consider this game to be realistic, as is so who cares if you can't use heavy weapons, but not and AR, or SG. I'm definitely not complaining

Yea I guess you are right, I just wish that I could equip my heavy weapon on grunt instead of my shepard that way my shep looks more like my concept of an adept.

Obviously some of us care or this topic would not exist Posted Image

Don't get me wrong - I'm not screaming at BW saying this will ruin my game, or threatening not to buy it etc etc, but one of the things that was fed back to BW about the first game was that people didnt want to be forced to carry weapons they could not use.

Seems in this case its not as bad as we can actually use the heavy weapons  - not like with the SR in ME1 where for untrained characters it was more use as a door stop than a gun.

Also, i'm not worried about whether it makes sense fo an adept to carry a heavy weapon.  Its just I envision my adept being very lightly armed and armoured, as he doesnt have to rely on weapons.  Come my soldier playthrough i'll probably been complaing that I cannot strap a heavy weapon to each of his limbs Posted Image

If you want an easy solution to having a "book case" on you back, just equip the firestorm or the ARC Projector, they are both decently small and don't look ridiculous. Besides, the ARC is a pretty useful weapon anyway; an electrical charge that jumps from target to target, and disables them for a few seconds.
