I doubt there'll be anything in the game on release, as they've sort of established nature magic as a Dalish thing, so it doesn't make sense that it would be a basic skill tree for mages of all races. None of the specializations appear to involve nature-based spells, either.

So, basically, let's hope for it as a future DLC specialization.

Unless they decided to mix it into another tree, such as Primal or Creation, though I'd rather they didn't.

DLC specialization do sound like a good idea adding even more reply value to try out new skills before potential dlc :)

Here is a list with nature based spells/concept/damage present in DA games:

Dragon Age Origins

Creation: Grease, Spellbloom, Stinging swarm

Shapeshifting: Flying Swarm

Battlemage: Elemental Chaos (random damage)

Keeper: One with Nature, Thornblades, Replenishment, Nature's Vengeance

There are staves and poison items with nature damage

Dragon Age 2

Dalish Pariah: Wrath of the Elvhen, Loss of the Dales, Arlathan's Grace, Ensnare (only Merrill can use them)

There are staves, runes and poison items with nature damage and resistance.

Dragon Age Inquistion

?????

Since nature damage is effective against most enemies from Fade and darkspawn. Why not nature spells in DAI?

We need Nature spells. Please! :)

I sort of see elemental chaos as a reflection of primal/ elemental mastery.

But yeah definitely hoping some of the previous nature spells are in Inquisitions Creation magic tree.

In the cut-scenes Velanna had nature magic. She commanded trees and could use vines like a teleporter!

I think Nature Magic fits in well with DA :)

Merrill could tunnel through the earth too. It seems abilities like those are rare even amongst keepers.

We get to play as a dalish Mage....surely there must be some spells in creation school for players to deal nature damage.

Still, for these who have read the masked empire, elemental and primal magics are a big part of their repertoire of spell useage.

I don't think Velanna was commanding the trees per se. She might've been possessing them with minor spirits (like all Sylvans are possessed). So they're fairly stupid and pissed off. Kind of like raising dead in DAO. I don't think it was raising the dead per se. It was Spirit school magic. Injecting corpses with a wisp or something from the fade. Maybe the burning Sylvans were rage demons though.

I said Elemental Chaos because the random nature damage.

And I forgot to mention the unique talent from Spider shape/summon, Poison Spit,  it has nature damage too.

Dragon Age Team, please, tell us if nature spells will be present again. We need all elements back (fire, ice, thunder, spirit and nature) :)

Spell idea: Vines could be used to entangle your foes.

Wasn't stonefist in the primal tree in Origins supposed to deal nature damage?

In both games, Stonefist has physical damage. In Origins, the text is wrong, at least I read on Dragon Age wikia.

judging from what ive read your title would more likely to be a wooden or forest orientated magic tree which i believe was mainly shown to the elves and those lucky enough to learn it from the keepers, theres already nature magic trees in both prior games and there is also a keeper specialization in both though the DA2 one was a rare mixture that had some blood magic involved which i think was mentioned as a ancient elven form of magic

Yes please! I used the Awakening in OC mod so I could be a Keeper in both DAO and DAA. I also used the console so I could add Dalish Pariah to Hawke for the nature spells. I love nature magic :3

Well, I have a theory: We all know Spirit Healer is gone, health does not regenerate, and healing is probably receiving a rework to adjust to this, and hopefully make a dedicated healer companion less core.

In the demo at E3, they go through some skill tree description, it mention "Even healing their allies", meaning healing spells have likely been moved to the Spirit tree. While they did not mouse over the Creation tree I believe, it was next in the list. And it looks very green, and nature like... Almost like Keeper icon.

It is my belief that Creation will be less about healing and supporting, and more about "creating" things, such as a puddle of grease, or a swarm of insects. It makes more sense that way I think, and so does Spirit becoming the real healing tree (Spirit Healers after all)

so have hope! Its still possible!

Merrill's nature spells were rather useless as they required her to be in the middle if the action, exactly where a squishy mage shouldn't be...

Vines and thorns are usually used for nature magic as well as summons, but so long as no other tree gets summons neither should nature.

Sustainable and glyph spells could be awesome though something like a flesh eating plant or constantly having a flower meadow around you.

Summons wild animals would fit in nature magic better then it did in rouge. Summon animals. Shape shift and a few minor spells. Healing consuming the dead bodies for health regeneration.

Vines that paralyzes you. Boulders falling from sky. Not meteors. Bolders. As in physical damage.  Hey what that? Is that a tree throwing a bolder at you? Or maybe bugs coming out of the trees and biting your enemies while healing you and your party.

And for the guy who said tree huggers. My bear will love to eat you. Bears are part of nature. Insects attacking could be nature magic. Vines dragging you to your doom could also be nature.

I agree with this. I personally think that the creation school will be expanded upon, having more damaging spells. I can see stinging swarm returning and vine spells that lash out at enemies.

I'm sorry, but how do biting insects heal allies while simultaneously damaging enemies? xD

More spell ideas:

  • Magic Pollen to make enemies sleep - A bunch of small purple flowers springs out of the ground and sprays pollen up into a cloud before disheartening into the ground.
  • Summon a massive Venus fly trap looking monster that will damage an enemy for a short time, or swallow a Human, Elf, Dwarf, Qunari whole if they are near death before sliding back into the earth.
  • An upgrade to the tangled in vine idea I posted before. Thorns! - The vine is upgraded with damaging thorns.

I mainly only like nature magic cause I am a fan of shapeshifting. If the other skill trees have shapeshifting spells, then I'm good.

I think that nature mages can have spells based on: seeds, roots, vines, woods, leaves, fruits, flowers, animals and earth with aspects about damage, healing, protection, regeneration, empower, enhanced,  poison.
Maybe with some other elementals spells, because everything is about nature :)

You only need to go as far as Pokemon Grass type moves for ideas for nature spells.

Passive AoE healing/leeching plants.

Immobilizing vines.
Paralyzing/sleep-inducing pheromones.
Etc.

Then you have the whole realm of animal summoning and/or shape-shifting that could be tied into it.
