@Jackums:  Yeah, but then I have to play an elf.  No thanks.

I wanted something similar but rather, I wanted the dalish elf mage to have their own system of magic, with more of a lean toward "nature magic."  didn't necessarily have to be a entire rewrite, but rather substituting certain spells for others... like substituting Fire Spells for Plant Spells, and Ice Spells for Water Spells... Spell Combo wise Water and Lightning obviously make for a natural combination. Plant Spells are a lot more diverse, ranging from poisonous spores, to giant carnivorous plants, to debuff spells like Spike Growth to slow in coming hostiles, and deal some minor damage over time, i also second the idea that Shapeshifting could have been something unique to this DA:I Dalish Clan, and thus be a part of a existing school of magic.

All of that sounds great, but sadly the MP Keeper is probably the best we're going to get... and that might just be a title that describes the character.  She may not actually possess any nature magic.  I'm willing to give Bioware the benefit of the doubt since the game was originally designed with a human protagonist in mind... maybe we'll see more spell variety and race exclusive specs in DA4.

From BG2 Druid Spell:

DRUID ONLY SPELLS
lv1: Entangle
lv2: Charm Person or Mammal, Good Berries
lv3: Call Lightning, Hold Animal, Summon Insects
lv4: Call Woodland Beings
lv5: Insect Plague, Iron Skins, Pixie Dust
lv6: Conjure Fire Elemental, Dolorous Decay, Fire Seeds

If you read The masked empire, you will notice the dalish use magic pretty much available to any Mage regardless of race/ training.

In the comics, a tevinter magister uses an entangle-like spell, as does a witch.

I think that in dragon age, nature magic is applicable to Primal, Creation and herbology, rather than being its own source of magic.

The keeper spells we see in awakening represent a focus on plant manipulation, unlike say a druid in d&d, they do not gain power from nature, they are directing it to their will.

I am really hoping that there are plant manipulation and stinging swarm spells in dragon age inquisition. As we know there is a keeper spec in the MP, surely at least one ability is derived from spells in SP.

Here is a link that mentions old magic....yet what they cast is primal magic

http://dragonage.wik..._Tale_of_Iloren

"But Iloren had prepared for them. All around the camp, the hunters had strewn dry grass, brush and brambles. When the sound of rustling footfalls began, Iloren and the other hahren called upon the old magic. They struck out with lightning, and though the bolts missed the darkspawn, they hit their target all the same. "

Not 100% applicable to nature magic... but I always thought familiars would fit in well with DA.  Animals inhabited by spirits/demons that serve you.

I just have to say that I am very happy to at least see a keeper as a playable character for the MP. Even though I really want nature magic in the single player campaign, I am not expecting that to happen. So I will take whatever I can get to play it in some form.

Also, in origins stonefist was originally meant to have dealt nature damage.

honestly would not be surprised if creation in inquisition incorporated stonefist, entangle, and buff spells.
