If I'm romancing Liara I do Artemis Tau first, then Noveria, then Feros, then Virmire. If I'm not romancing Liara then I swap Noveria and Artemis Tau. Of them all Noveria is my least favorite so I like to get it out of the way. Saving Virmire for last makes the most sense to me, story-wise... and it gives me time find Wrex's family armor.

Well, it wasn´t asked in terms of best order of solving, but as a matter of taste. What is your order in terms of preference, the ones you enjoyed most.

Ah i get it. Then I'll go with: Virmire, Ilos, Feros, Artemis Tau, Noveria.
As for the side missions: Bring Down the Sky if that counts. I like Tali's side-quests alot, where you go to the five geth-infested planets. The one mission where you only have a few seconds to disarm an old nuke. When the squad escapes the mine, I like to stand at the top of the cliff and snipe all the guys waiting at the bottom to ambush me. Corporal Toombs of course. And finally the colonist background mission, "I remember me."

Some of my favourite side missions include the Bring Down the Sky DLC and the Alliance mission on Nepmos (the one where you have to fight multiple waves of Rachni; it reminds me of Starship Troopers).

Hmmmmm...
Main story missions:
1. Citadel (final).
2. Ilos.
3. Feros.
4. Virmire
5. Noveria.
6. Artemus Tau (NG+)
7. Eden Prime (NG or NG+)
8. Artemus Tau (NG).
Side missions:
1) Bring Down the Sky
2) The Negotiation (Renegade-specific mission)
3) Whatever that mission is where you get to kill Elias Halliat. I forget the name. Works best with a War Hero reputation.

Virmire, Ilos/Citadel, Noveria, Eden Prime, Feros, Therum
I enjoyed them all, so being at the end of the list doesn't mean I didn't like them. The missions at the beginning of the list contain some of my favorite scenes (and characters) from the whole game.
And a few favorite side missions: those exclusive to Shepard's background, Garrus and Dr. Saleon, Toombs and Cerberus, Major Kyle

1 Feros (colony under attack right now, needs to be saved)
2 Either Geth Incursion (from hacked terminal in Exogeni HQ) or Artemis Tau (Kaidan recommends finding T'Soni)
3 Explore Artemis Tau cluster, leaving Therum for last (gives you an excuse to do some side missions since you don't "know" where T'Soni is.)
4 Virmire (Council gives you fresh intel about a missing unit investigating Saren)
5 At this point you can fit in side missions because nothing seems pressing about Noveria. All you have are rumors of Geth activity
6 Noveria
7 Ilos (of course, since that's all that's left)
BDtS doesn't really fit in here anywhere except (5), but for meta-game reasons it is best to do it right before Ilos. I might actually like BDtS if it wasn't for the sick joke of those mines. A 6 pixel wide path using an xbox controller? What idiot came up with that idea?
On the whole, about the only thing I really enjoy about ME1 is dancing. At least Shepard knew how to dance in ME1 before Miranda brought him/her back to life in ME2. That deficiency was largely made up by the fact that Miranda taught Shepard all these fancy new squad and personal control commands, and Cerberus totally reworked Shepard's omni-tools and bio-amps.

Noveria
Illos
Virmire
Feros
Artemis Tau
Eden Prime
Citadel
I don't know if I have a favorite side mission. I do have ones I don't like though. Various husk missions can be a big pain in the ass if you don't have good CC.

Feros
Therum
Noveria
Virmire
Illos
Favorite side missions probably the Geth incursions, Luna base, Cerberus missions.

That's hard to choose really, they all have great aspects. In the end and as many times as I have played ME1, it really doesn't matter. But I always do Therum first so I can get Liara right off. I admit I have done that one last a few times just to experience the hilarious dialogue Liara gives.
If I were to choose a favorite maybe Noveria, it is because of what I can do during its mission. No funnier dialogue and being able to screw over four people in one run was quite satisfying.
Anyway, preference if I had to choose:
Noveria
Therum
Feros
Virmire
Ilos
Eden Prime

1. Virmire
2. Citadel Final Fight
3. Ilos
~~~
4. Feros
5. Novaria
6. Therum
~~~
7. Terra Nova
8. Citadel Second Visit
~~~
9. Eden Prime
10. Citadel First Visit
Not counting Pinnacle Station (LOL THE WORST) or sidemissions.
-Eden Prime really bores me by this point, for the most part. I have nothing against it in itself.
-Visiting the Citadel actually makes me literally fall asleep at this point. I don't mind some of the first visit (main story) and the meetup with Anderson later on tho.
-Therum is just okay. I just get it done.
-Novaria is enjoyable, but drags on in a few annoying ways.
-I really like Feros overall, except Thorian on higher difficulties.
-Terra Nova is just okay, but barely worth the money (when it had a price).
-However... Mass Effect really shines for me once I reach Virmire. Fantastic game for its time at that point. Virmire, Ilos, Citadel Final Fight, all a great gaming rush ![]()
For a more clear list:
1. Virmire
2. Citadel
3. Ilos
4. Feros
5. Novaria
6. Therum
7. Eden Prime
I almost always play ME 1 in this order Therum, Feros, Virmire, Noveria, and then Ilos.
I prefer to do Eden Prime last ![]()
All joking aside:
I don't really have a preference in terms of fun/quality. They're all good. I prefer to do Feros on the higher levels though, as that'll make the biotics much stronger and makes it easier to deal with the hordes of creepers.
The order in which I do the missions varies, though I tend to do Virmire as soon as it becomes available. I think my prefered order is as follows:
Eden Prime (doh)
Citadel (doh)
Therum
Back to Citadel
Noveria
Back to Citadel
Virmire
Back to Citadel
Feros
Back to Citadel
Ilos
Story wise though, you have to try this one: (ignoring Eden Prime and going back to the Citadel)
Feros (only mission remotely human related, plus Geth have been spotted there, hence first)
Noveria
Virmire
Therum
Ilos
It gives the game a very different feel, in my opinion. Have only done this once though. No matter what class I play, I deem Liara pretty much a must have squadmate... though I did go for a full Alliance squad until Virmire on my last game.
I like to play the missions as if the passage of time matters to some extent, even though I know as a player that it usually doesn't. I think my canon Shepard went in this order after being named a Spectre:
Shai'ra / Septimus / Elcor Ambassador - I figure Shep has a little "down time" before her new ship will be ready to go, so this gives me an opportunity to poke around the Citadel.
Feros - Because the colony is under attack by the geth right now (fortunately I was doing a New Game Plus and could pass the ridiculously high speech check with Ethan Jeong - why is that guy so much braver, dumber, or both than almost every other antagonistic flunky we meet?).
Eletania - I'm assuming we get word of this on our way back to the relay from Feros. And personally I think the idea of an elite military squad having to frisk some space monkeys is pretty funny. I love Garrus's "*This* is going to be fun" comment.
Therum - Liara could have information that will rehsape the whole investigation. (Which she sort of does, even if it's not as straightforward as "here's where Saren is hiding.") Plus, I'd rather add her to the crew sooner than later.
BDTS - For this, I assume that the batarian attack just occurred and Shepard has received word and has at least some idea that this could be a real catastrophe; you can fit it pretty much anywhere you want if you approach it that way.
Various Side Missions - Shepard goes back to the Citadel for supplies and to check in with Anderson, and in the process picks up some more side quests such as the Cerberus/Kahoku series, Dr. Michel's blackmailer, Jenna's C-Sec work, etc. I also did most of the "hostage rescue"-type missions and the stolen nuke. I skipped the moon base and the Armstrong Nebula geth, because both make me feel like a bit of a heel in light of later revelations (my impression is that the Armstrong Nebula geth were independent non-heretics, which means it's unlikely they were planning an attack).
Noveria - I prefer to have Virmire as the last mission before the endgame, plus, while Noveria is reporting geth sightings, all Virmire is reporting is a garbled message from the STG, and if I do Noveria last, I can't do...
Cerberus/Rachni side mission - Because it's not unlocked until now. (Unless I wait until after stealing the Normandy, but that would *really* throw my "passage of time matters" approach out of whack!)
Virmire - I just think it fits the story better to have the confrontations with Sovereign and Saren and the death of the non-VS near the end. Doing one of the other missions in between Virmire and Ilos turns down the tension a little.
Therum (because I get Liara)
Feros (I like the creepy feel of the place)
Virmire (looks pwetty)
Ilos (the creepy city of the dead 'feel' again)
Noveria (last because it seems to drag on the most)
Side missions?
Geth Incursions (just because)
Hades Dogs (kicking Cerberus butt)
Eletania (there be pyjaks here!)
Uh.... I gess some of you are getting the OP wrong...
Geth said that is your order of PREFERENCE, not order of COMPLETION
Anyways, here is mine:
1. Noveria
2. Virmire
3. Artemis Tau
4. Ilos
5. Eden Prime
6. Feros
1: Always liked visiting Snow and cold Worlds and imagining that I'm inside a warm building... oohhhh
2: Wrex's confrotation, Captain Kirrahe, Virmire Death and nuke.
3. Saving Liara, confronting Krogan Battlemaster... But this mission is a pain in the ass if you have Bring Down the Sky installed(The map gets black and you must guess where the Lava is and where is not...)
4.Well, Ilos. End of the run, but TBH, nothing special here.
5. Same. Just a prologue mission that introduces you to various things on the Mass Effect Universe
6.Feros. Gahh! Don't know why, but I've ALWAYS disliked Feros.
Assignments:
1.Bring Down the Sky (Because it's BDtS! What else could I say??)
2.Citadel: I remember me(This mission is awesome in my book. Conforting Talitha. Yah)
3. Citadel: The Fan. (Conrad Verner and many different options you can choose!)
... And many others I can't decide ![]()
I prefer to complete them in a way that would make more sense to the story for me.
1. Therum - it's a matter of a person, whose location might change, so mi Shep goes there first.
2. Feros - it's not an easy decision between Therum and Feros, since there is an ongoing geth attack. But lets say you have a 3-man team vs a geth invasion.
3. BDtS - since this is not Grissom Academy in ME3, I can postpone it till then and pretend it just popped up.
4. Virmire - it seems pretty urgent, and even though it's more interesting to have the emotional ending of the mission right before Illos, I try to follow my own logic on the story.
5. Noveria - Ah, when you put aside all the driving, all the walking and going from A to B, and then to A, to B again, to C (!), and to B again, the mission is full of funny moments.
I usually do the sidemissions before Noveria. The ones, which are located in the Arthemis Tau cluster I do first, because supposedly, I have no idea where Liara is.
Citadel Battle at the end
Bring Down the Sky
Feros
1. Pinnacle Station, how else would I get Colossus X armor for everyone?
2. Virmire, love the music and the dialogue with Sovereign still sends a shiver down my spine. Plus I can off Wrex and Kaidon. Just kidding about Wrex, sort of.
3. Novaria
4. Bring down the Sky. Shootin Batarians, what is not to love?
5. Feros
6. Ilos
7. Citadel battle, because this is the last fun shep is going to have before ME2 and getting spaced. Yes, ME1 is my favorite in the series and it just goes down hill from here.
1. Virmire, awesome music, awesome location, good level design, the nuke, wrex confrontation, HOLD THE LINE, saren , choosing ashley/kaidan and glorious Sovereign conversation. To this date my favorite mass effect mission. It is perfect.
2. Noveria, that feeling of being in the coldest planet inside a warm building filled with coorporations ran by cold people , and that music as well! Then the rachni conversation, all awesome.
3.Feros, what a twist that mission was, and lots of ways to play through it. Nothing like makoing across prothean skybridges with that sci-fi music in my ears ![]()
4.Illos, awesome soundtrack, again, then vigil and that rush near the end.
5. Battle of the citadel, that vertical climb and finishing off sovereign... wow.
6. Therum, great atmosphere and soundtrack, all while meeting Liara. And the mako. But my least favorite, nothing really exciting happens until we reach the mine.
