This one will be harder than my ME3 list. Most of my favorite squadmates are from ME2.

I can't count Zaeed and Kasumi because they're not in my game, but from what I read about them, they'd probably be in the top 6.

Based on solely on ship-board dialogue? Mordin (gotta love Salarian Scientist)

Based on solely on in-mission dialogue? Grunt (Lets go, I want to see how long she lasts. Lets just shoot her and patch her up on the ship.)

Based on solely on romance? Well, right up until they jump in bed I like Tali's dialogue (Sroka did a great job). Based on the Captain cabin's scene alone, Jack. Getting there, however, is painful. Thane also has an OK romance arc. Never done Garrus or Jacob.

Based on how interesting (plot wise) their LM is? Tali (I liked the interaction with the Admirals)

 

Interestingly, sqaudmate's utility has a good deal of influence on how I view them as characters. I did not like Miranda at first, but after switching over to be more focused on powers than guns, her strength as a character grew on me. I didn't like Jack personality wise, and her power set did nothing to encourage a more positive attitude. This is not universally true, of course. I like Tali for her personality, but her power suite is sorely lacking. I don't like Zaeed, either for his personality, or his skill set. If his skill set had been up there with either Garrus or Miranda, however, I would have cut him some slack. Samara may be the most boring Asari in the game, but she does have a good skill set (although I get tired of hearing "your life is mine").

This was harder than I thought. I think I like every ME2 squadmate. Maybe ME2 has a weak plot, but its cast is brilliant; always liked the game for that.

That's going to be difficult, I'm just going to rank everyone in tiers:

 

1. Mordin, Legion (we have you for so little time!)

 

2. Samara, Jack, Zaeed, Kasumi, *Jacob romance (his dialogue and character gets massively expanded during the romance content)

 

3. Miranda, Jacob, Thane (he get's moved down because I'm not a particularly large fan of the Drell race), Grunt

 

4. Garrus

 

5. Tali

 

I don't dislike any of the characters. Garrus and Tali are ranked down lower because they don't really add anything interesting as they were back in ME1. Garrus has very little ship board content (he's in the middle of some calibrations) and that marks him down. I've never been a particularly large fan of Tali, she's okay in my book, but the ME2 cast is outstanding enough that okay doesn't cut it; she really does grow on me during ME3 though.

My go-to team was alllllways Garrus/Jack. 
They made a solid combo for my gameplay, never had problems (overload/biotic crowd disruption) and they also just happen to be my favorite characters.

 

To me they're among the most interesting (and sexyyyyy, rawr  ) characters, and have the most swag personality, which makes for more energetic combat/cinematic dialogue. ("Flyyy ******!!" "I will DESTROYYY YOU!" "Scratch one!" "One less to worry about!") Every time I tried taking out other people it felt too quiet/tame

You kidding? Miranda is arguably the best squadmate in terms of powers: She strips armor, barriers, and shields with all of her powers. Her passive gives a health and damage boost to the squad that isn't insignificant. Give her a shuriken, and she'll be accurate and strip shields. Give her a tempest, and she'll stagger enemies. Her only drawback is that she's relatively squishy.
