I kinda thought curing the genophage for all krogan did secure his power.

If you look at me2 where he's barely maintaining a small alliance of clans via the fertile females, I struggle to see if you remove that lever completely why every clan is going to fall in line. Think me3 moves to an over simplification of the situation.

I actually get why Wrex demands the cure now and don't disagree with it. His solution -- sharing females between clans -- was only a stopgap that would not be sustainable long-term, and combined with the high casualty-rate of the Reaper war, they really did need the cure then and there or it would spell the end of them. Some say Wrex is undermining his power-base in doing so, but I think he ultimately cares more about the survival of his species than his power over them, since said power won't matter if they die out.

Also, if you play with Wreav in charge, he says that the popular support he will gain from curing the genophage will allow him to do whatever he wants. Wrex can similarly ride the wave, he just doesn't say as much, and that's kind of the problem I have with him in ME3 now. He's lost his edge and is way too much of a goody-two-shoes now.

Actually, Wrex's support in ME2 comes from returning to Tuchanka as a hero for his role in helping Shepard. He used that support to unite the krogan clans under his banner and share fertile females, but that reform in itself is not popular. Wrex's opponents believe and that females should be fought over to ensure the strength of their species (only the strong may breed) and that Wrex is disrespecting tradition, but for now, they can't beat Wrex's popularity. Curing the genophage would make him a legend to the krogan people, though.

Javik and femshep

And yet they're still fully armored/clothed.

It's sort of a ninjamance. I mean, you don't deliberately pick it.

But at the same time, the Citadel Party is pretty autodirected anyway. Whatever happens in it, happens. As Shepard, we only customize aspects of it. In the end, everyone parties hard, drinks up, and wakes up happily or with a hangover. The 'ninjamance' of Javik/James isn't SO important when put in that context, but can just be taken as the 'Citadel experience'.

Though I found the James part to be even more uncomfortable than with Javik, ensuring that my FemSheps will have a Kaidan/Liara/Thane/Garrus/maybeJacob/Samantha romance beforehand, just in case. Thanks Bioware.

There seems to be a few things about Citadel that I wouldn't like at all, even though other scenes sound cool. I found the autodialogue in the main game annoying, and this looks like they've taken it up to the next level. Auto-ninjamance too? Bad idea. I hope you guys at least had the option to avoid it by not talking to him or something.

Ya, there's a lot of over the clothes action in Mass Effect.

Maybe he's just trolling?

I can imagine Liara asking that FemShep all sorts of questions about Protheans though, if she ever found out.

LOL Shepard, BAMF knows no boundaries.

For me
its
1. Garrus
2. Garrus
3. Garrus
Did I mention Garrus

Ok seriously speaking, I loved pairing Garrus with Jack in ME2 cause they've both got too much swag and personality, and gameplay-wise I liked their combo. As much as I find Liara endearing, I was bummed having her replace Jack's place as my warp lady in ME3. When it's not Jack and Garrus, it feels too quiet.

I would like to have fought with Tali more 'cause she's too adorbs. Just haven't gotten around to giving up either warp or overload (or turian hotness). For ME2 I ended up fighting the human reaper with Tali and Jack for the sake of total squad survival, and I really enjoyed that. Total girl power moment.  B)

1. Grunt, Wrex

2. James

3. Garrus (for buddy fun)

4. Mordin

5. Zaeed

6. Kaidan (biotics and healing in ME1)

7. Javik (for the loll's)

8. Jacob  (biotics only)

9. Legion (never really take him out)

10. Thane (never really take him out)

11. Tali  (for tech in ME1. I don't like the voice over, so I don't take her out)

12. Jack, Miranda, Liara, Samara, Edi, Aria, Nyreen

Can you tell I'm not a fan of female squaddies? 'Tis true. My femshep isn't into girls. Tali is useful for tech, so she's not included on the female line.

From favourite to least favourite to take on missions...
ME1:
Wrex, Ash, Garrus, Kaidan, Tali then Liara

ME2:
Thane, Legion, Zaeed. Mordin, Garrus, Grunt, Kasumi, Tali, Jack, Samara, Miranda then Jacob

ME3:
Javik, Edi, Garrus, James, Kaidan, Ash then Liara.

I don't dislike Liara, she just doesn't really have anything interesting to say.

From a combat perspective, for my most recent playthrough, as a Sentinel, it's

ME1: Garrus and Liara. Garrus brings heavy weapons and decent/good abilities, and Liara can spam singularities.

ME2: Garrus and Kasumi. Garrus is just Garrus in this game, and Kasumi's Shadow Strike does ridiculous damage.

ME3: Garrus and Liara. Garrus has good weaponry and overload, and a Warp+Flare combo is devastating.

The only power he has that's worthwhile is his pull and ammo power (which is redundant for my Soldier Shepard.) Barrier only works for him, and he's still pretty squishy regardless.

2.   Tali=Mordin>>>Samara>Grunt>Miranda>>>>>>>>Kasumi>Legion>Thane>Zaeed>Garrus>>>>>>>>Jacob>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Jack

3.   Tali>>>>Javik>>>>>>>>>EDI>>>>>>>>>>>>Liara.

The rest of 3's cast I basically hate at this point.   I never liked Ashley or Kaidan, Vega is an insult to the Krogan slot he stole, & I can no longer stand Garrus after Bioware decided to shove him down our throats in 3-- I can just barely tolerate Liara for the same reason.

In ME1 my favourite squad was always Garrus + Wrex

In 2 it was usually Garrus + whoever... Quite liked using Mordin.

In 3 it was Garrus + James/Kaidan

This guy speaks the truth.

Exactly in this order, of favorite to least favorite:

Love and Adore                                   Like                                                      Dislike                              Despise

|-----------------------------||---------------------------------------------------------------------||--------------------------------------------||---------------------------|

Miranda, Javik, Mordin         Legion, James, Thane, Samara, Zaeed, Jacob, Grunt, Wrex      Kaidan, Kasumi, Garrus, Jack, Morinth       EDI, Liara, Tali, Ashley

I suppose that if we're adding temporary squadmates throughout the trilogy (not including temporary squadmates in one game who are full in another):

Again, ordered favorite to least favorite.

Aria, Anderson, Jenkins, Kenson, Wilson, Nyreen

I'm not a terribly huge fan of any of the temporary squadmates. I really only ranked them on how they perform their part, and how I like them in the story. Aria is the best because she's by far the longest temporary squadmate with the most amount of narrative importance, as well as her role outside the playable parts she's in. Anderson isn't appealing to me. I didn't like the forced father-figure stuff, and the forced moments at the end of ME3. But he did serve a narrative purpose. Jenkins I suspect is here for how much I dislike the other characters. He's an eager, earnest soldier, and he doesn't die out of stupidity or lunacy like most others. He dies following his orders and was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Kenson had some value, but her utility as a squadmate is terribly limited. Otherwise, she's a forgettable character that gets a dull surprise in being indoctrinated. Wilson is a traitorous moron; after a few seconds of conversation, I could tell he was definitely setting up for something. He also came off as bitter and resentful in his logs, and that definitely told me that, aside from pre-characterizing Miranda as a severe ice queen focused on the job (and who's execution of Wilson validated), told the tale that he had a motivation to be resentful as well. Nyreen, despite her narrative role as being the opposite of Aria, is too much of naive, holier-than-thou idealist who rubs me the wrong way.

*edit*

You meant in ME3 alone:

Javik, James................................................. Kaidan........................................................................... Garrus.... EDI.......... Tali...... Liara, Ashley (I switched Tali with Liara for ME3.)

Really, there's only 2 squadmates I like in ME3, Javik and James. I tolerate Kaidan, and he can be a bit more insightful. The rest can die painfully. After breaking their spirit and motivation down to dust and watching them break as characters of course.

ME1: Wrex=Liara>Garrus>Ashley>Tali>Kaidan

Wrex and Liara are pretty damn interesting, and even though Liara can be gained late, she still manages to pull off her naive character well, and Wrex seems like a badass grandpa. Garrus is morally ambiguous and young, a bit bigoted. Ashley has her minor bigotry to deal with but she's strong and her family was interesting to learn about. Tali's fleet didn't strike me as too interesting and she was the exposition dump girl for Quarian culture. And Kaidan was just the human male character who was good. Usually always leave him on the Bomb. Thinking of switching it around for once.

ME2: Legion = Mordin > Grunt > Samara > Garrus > Miranda = Tali >Zaeed=Kasumi > Jack=Jacob > Thane

Legion is refreshing insight on Geth and cute, and Mordin has a refreshing atonement arc to his character. Grunt is just fun and his tank-birth fascinated me. Samara's an oddity and I like her sacrifice for her code, even if said code might be flawed. Garrus grew up a little and his Archangel reputation was fun to have. Miranda came off as a bit cold but opened up reasonably to Shepard and just became buds after Ori. Tali's like a little sister.  Zaeed and Jessie was an awesome tale and enjoyed his comments, and Kasumi's mission was sad.  Jack's just the drugged up experiment with skinhead tattoos. Jacob's romance arc is the only thing interesting about him in ME2, and I'm not counting how ME3 ruins it. And Thane never interested me much, especially when they said he was made to cater females and be their LI or something along those lines.

ME3: Javik > James = Garrus > EDI > Tali > Liara > Ashley.

Javik's absolutely amazing, and I find his standpoint interesting as hell. James is pretty chill, and fun.  Garrus was same old Garrus but he had an appeal to him. I found EDI interesting in some regards to her questions. Her jokes, and sexbot body are a whole other detail. Tali's admiral position had some potential but it's a shame she got in so late, and considering Thessia's focused heavily on Javik/Liara she's only got one big mission on Horizon if you want the most bang for your buck. Ashley's nice but she didn't really...go anywhere.

ME1: Go to team was Kaidan and either Wrex or Garrus. Didn't mind the girls just thought the others skill sets worked better.

ME2: Go to team varied a lot but generally some combo of Thane/Legion/Mordin/Grunt/Jack depending on the mission. Didn't have Kasumi's DLC but I'm thinking that I will get it for my next play through.

ME3: Go to team was Kaidan and either James or Javik. Would have liked to include Garrus more but I was an infiltrator so we overlapped on skill set.

Note: I've only played the trilogy once and am currently playing a couple of different ME1 Sheps so I expect my go to team may change some based on different skill sets and LI's.
