Not sure if this has been done before. I performed a little experiment using the Skydome placeable from the tiny Fake Exteriors tileset, and the result is shown below. Unfortunately the glow map won't take a tint. But it seems that it should be possible to create a variety of outdoor-like sky views using different textures and glow maps.
P.S. The other two changes I made to the model was to reduce the specularity to zero and scale up the UV map to fit the full texture height.
