Maybe Loghain's first name isn't actually Loghain, and that second name is fake. What was it MacTir?

 

Anyway, I'm pretty sure he's a "Maria."

 I went to school with 'Lorainne Loghain' and so he will always be Lorainne to me.

I'm thinking that informally things would be Lord Bryce, Lord Eamon etc

 

Formally Teyrn Cousland, Arl Guerrin etc

 

Now as to the comment that Loghain is a Maria   My girls put some heavy boot into rotten bottoms and could probably take Maria with one hand tied behind their back whilst having a fit of the giggles. And even tho' I will probably always think of him as Maria from now on, maybe we could think of him as a Maurice instead?  (sorry to the Maurices out there). That's Maureece and no, not Maureen.

 

My point here is why should terms like big girl's blouse or nancy girl be used to belittle men when women are so tough? . . .  and I'm done.

Teyrn Loghain as against Teyrn Cousland - one by given name one by family name

Arl Howe as against Arl Eamon

 

I justify it as a north/south thing brought on by the fact that Ferelden isn't exactly a monolithic entity. Up along the north coast, lords go by family name: Teyrn Cousland, Arl Howe. In the majority of Ferelden (everywhere south of Denerim, more or less), lords go by given name: Teyrn Loghain, Arl Eamon, Bann Teagan.
