Conversation, item aquisition, whatever else I feel like having.

There's a reason I opted for a 2da, the data has to be stored somewhere and I prefer 2da to scripts.

Hi Again,

Yes, I like a challenge. ;)

What I am trying to do is work with the data that is already available within the game. i.e. Creature descriptions and image icons. It is quite difficult to achieve, but I think it *might* be possible.

I will let you know how it pans out.

Cheers,

Lance.

UPDATE: IMAGES, unfortunately, are too convoluted to implement "dynamically" with my current knowledge. I managed to get an image into the GUI using PORTRAIT code, but I could never see how to store the data for later recall, and so am going to have to manually script the image file name, especially as the portrait file name mentioned in appearance.2da is irrelevant for NWN2, so I discovered. :( Hopefully, apart from having to make manual reference to the images, I may be able to minimise other references ... but we'll see. I keep you posted.

Cheers,
Lance.

Hi Again,

I am just finishing off some scripting and wondered how you were considering doing your "entries" with respect to the various types within a race. E.g. Had you intended to list all dragon variants as separate entries, or just go with one entry to cover all "Dragon" types. I am preferring the latter at the moment, but just wondered what you had thought.

EDIT: On the back of that, had you considered what icons (images) to use for the "standard" creatures (if including them), such as humans? i.e. I cannot find a "default" human image, as they are often composed "on the fly" according to the creatures make up. I's easy enough to grab a few "standard" images online somewhere, but wondered if you had considered any in mind ... for consistency of bestiaries?

Cheers,
Lance.

The campaign I'm using this for is highly nonstandard, so I have no intention of ever creating one that matches up with all of the things you might encounter in nwn2. I've based the system off the "ico_" images already ingame, but if I need more I'll probably just use a screenshot from, maybe design a quick area that has a suitable background.

I'm doing entries organized in to groups, but "boss" type creatures will have their own.

Hi Psionic Entity,

Yes, there are quite a few types of creature ... and was one of the reasons I ended up "grouping" types so as not to end up with a tome of a bestiary! e.g. Different coloured dragons will have one entry under Dragons, etc.

I raised another thread asking how the NWN engine extracts portraits, so maybe that will help having to take various screen shots and make all those icons I have to do ... apart from the few that come in the icons folder that is ;)

Thanks,
Lance.
