Based on both usefulness in combat and who do you think you'll like best in terms of personality, which companions do you think you'll take with you on most quests?

 

I'm thinking in my first file (male elf mage) I'll take Sera, Solas and DHMG with me most of the time. I'm tempted to make a 4 mage party eventually but the little I know about Vivienne doesn't appeal to me much and I need someone to open chests for me. I'm not sure if I'd choose Cassandra or grey warden instead of Solas if I wanted a more balanced party though...

 

Somewhere along the line I'll probably make a girl power party with Cass, Sera, Vivienne and a lady inquisitor as well.

I'm withholding looking deeper into the companions since I want to get to learn about them as I'm playing the game. All I know so far is that Varric is very likely going to be a mainstay and I probably won't ever bring Vivienne along.

I think I would need to meet the companions and communicate with them first in order to figure out who will be my main party. For now, I'm just trying to get different classes in my part.

Iron Bull- Tank
Vivienne- Healer
Sera- AOE Damage

My first game will be of a mage Elf since that's how I like to play my character creator games first. Though I am saving for what party members act like to each other before I set in stone since we don't really know everyone very well at all, there's a high chance it will end up something like this;

But Varric and Solas will more then likely be swapped constently for the others. The only one I really plan on taking with me everywhere is Cole. Even my second planned character (a qunari female rogue) is going to carry Cole everywhere.

 

It all depends on how well everyone gells together in this game, I don't want a repeat of the hateful banter party and want best fwiend party :c

I know how you feel! It was painful to always take my three favorites in DA2 (Anders, Merrill and Fenris) because they were such dicks to each other. :/

I always like having Varric with me but he and maybe Solas will be my only semi-constants.

 

From what I can see, I think I'll be switching my team off quite often. I have a feeling that I'm really going to like all of these characters.

I don't think that I know enough about them to decide yet.  Besides, I tend not to have a "main party".  I pick a party that makes sense for the questline/area based on the characters.

 

This group is tough because I really like Cass, Iron Bull, AND the Bearded Warden and I'm planning on playing as a qunari warrior on my first playthrough.  I also really like Vivienne and DHMG.  And, of course, Varric.  I think he'll get an almost permanent spot just because I'll need a rogue and neither Cole nor Sera seem to be very interesting to me at this point.

Until I have a better idea of the characters, I can't say for sure. I figure Dorian will be a mainstay, but honestly, given the size, I'm likely to rotate through at least a few of the party members and figure out what each of them are like and how much I like them. Because honestly, all of the ones who've had things about their personalities given to us, I've liked and wanted to have in my party.
