I've decided that my party will be based on the ones that I think won't be romancible.

 

As a result, I've called it Team Friendzone! (the nice kind of friendzone, where it is a zone full of friends)

 

Starring my female Inquisitor! (mage/rogue)
Cole!
Varric!
And Iron Bull!

 

Of course, these party members will occasionally be switched out for other members that I don't think are romancible*, such as Vivienne and Blackwall. The romancibles will have to be in the party every now and then for obvious reasons (quests, etc) but overall these three guys will be my companions. If any of the guys I've listed in Team Friendzone are romancible, then I'll cry, then change my lineup.

 

*With the exception of Cole. Cole stays, no matter what. No questions asked.

pretty hard decision but here is the party I currently favour

Varric (he was brilliant in DA2)

LI  (probably Cassandra)

Iron Bull (he might be the one I exchange most often with other characters)

At this point only Sera and my Fem!Inquisitor are certain (kinda like a date, with more fighting and the other companions).

Dalish Elf Mage Inquisitor

Dorian, Sera, Solas, with Dorian as the LI

I've dubbed it Team F*** FENRIS. Disclaimer: I actually love Fenris.

 

Qunari Mage Inquisitor

Dorian, Iron Bull, Sera

I see that bioware has dubbed them Team YOLO, but if Iron Bull is a bi option, I'm gonna be calling it team LGBT, striking fear into the hearts of all enemies in Thedas.

So far Varric, because he reminds me of someone I used to know, and he rocked in DA2. The Iron Bull cause every group needs a heavy who'll just lay waste. I'll need to get to know the other characters more before I decide on the rest.

[Monster A-Go Go]

This is a tough one.  In my first playthroughs, I generally like to overcome as much as possible through force of charisma.  In Dragon Age, that tends to mean rolling a rogue and getting Cunning and Coercion up as quickly as possible.  The only problem is, I've also found that having two warriors or two mages is more useful than doubling-up on rogues in a party...which means I probably won't have Sera along so often, even though she's my chosen love interest. 

 

So, assuming I stick with rogue, I imagine my primary party will be:

-Female Inquisitor elf

-Blackwall (for all that Grey Warden-y goodness I've missed)

-Iron Bull (since the other choice is Cassandra and my character is not a fan of the formalized Andrastrian order)

-Solas (since he seems like the best chance at adding insight to the truth behind the lore)

One of the three will be rotated out from time to time for a different companion, but that will be my "main" set up.

Dorian stays no matter what. I'll always need a lockpicker but I keep flip flopping between Cole and Sera. Cass might be switched with Solas...

I like all of these guys and until I actually get down to playing the game, I'm not sure who of those four to choose from.  But IB is a definite,  gotta have the Muscle.

So far, I only have interest in Cassandra and Varric being in my party.  If I had to choose my third, I guess I would probably settle on Sera.

I have been pretty disappointed in the characters and their designs thus far.  Although, Iron Bull looks far more interesting with FPJ doing the voice work.  Despite my lack of enthusiasm for the roster, I am still super stoked for this game and got my 2 copies all paid for.

As much as I love Varric and I think Blackwall seems badass and interesting, I think I'm going to end up with team Yolo with my Mage Elven Quizzy. 

 

Suddenly I feel like we're the Power Rangers.

with my Dalish Rift Mage.  A team with wildly differing backgrounds coming together to solve the problems of the world.  I think the diversity (and banter) will be fun.

I have never played a DA game before, is the make up of the party dependant on quest or just how you want to play?

Yet if I was to just go purely on instinct of what I have read I would go
