Just how bad is this idea?

I was thinking about how little rank 5 of barrier and Krogan Berserker do for the Krogan Battlemaster, and how having only charge as a power can be problematic against sync kill bosses.

 

How about a 66446 build, sacrificing 10% DR and 10% weapon damage to get carnage as an anti-armour power?

The "normal" solution to the anti-boss issue for the KroGuard is to slap a reegar on it, but I've tried that. :sick:

Personally, I'm actually quite fond of carnage even if it isn't necessarily that great of a power, and to me that looks more interesting than the standard setup for him, so I say go for it :P

In my head, I could see keeping 6 in Barrier for the DR and putting 4 in Carnage. Maybe a good solo build?

Carnage can do a surprising amount of damage against armour when specced correctly. Not sure if its spammable enough for it to pull ahead in dps and be a wise investment. Still, fun to do on the orange armpit soldier.

I'd take Incapacitate at rank 5 personally. You could either skip rank 4 passives for rank 5 Barrier for the power damage & force bonus, or skip the 5% DR for 35% power damage & force bonus in the passives, but either way I'd rather have the additional power damage. 

 

But I'm nitpicking, don't listen to me. Your build looks like something interesting to try. 

 

Also, Krogan Shaman.

I've seen worse ideas, but really if you want to use Carnage it makes a little more sense on the Krogan Soldier and BF3 Soldier.

No, this idea isn't bad enough. What you need to do is run in a circle around Banshees spamming barrier.

I've already got carnage maxed on both of those guys. :P

 

I think I'll try it with my next batch of respec cards, if only for S&G's.

 

It wouldn't be the first oddball build I've used, I think this one might even work!

Not a bad idea at all. We all just got used to skipping Carnage for the unkillable solo build. As for sync kills, find a ramp and Biotic Charge/headbutt until he goes Mwahaha.

Used Carnage on my KroGuard the other night for the first time in years. It was fun, even with just 3 pity ranks it was effective enough that I will keep that build, and perhaps put more into Carnage. Hard to resist just pimpslapping the spawn though.

OT: I don't know if I could cope with a 7 second cooldown on charge but I suppose it'll actually be less than that because of the mod weight glitch. And I disagree with Clyde, Incapacitate can only affect 1 enemy at a time and the enemy has to be down to health already, so it's not terribly useful.

How long does Carnage prime for a fire explosion? I'm guessing it's not long enough to self detonate on this setup.

Ah Zerotas, if I could block your tinfoil and paper cup internet I would. Nice spawn nuke on the other side of the map while I tried to do that first wave 10 device. After I said EFF off to ya and bailed, wasirite Fission Mailed? All I do is pug all day erryday, and throwing 6 grenades to land 1 while bouncing all over the screen WITH  Cara's lag fix on = get a real PC and a connection worthy of hosting.

It's around six seconds with the glitch, give or take, plenty good enough on a krogan with cyclonics.

 

I personally agree with you that incapacitate doesn't work very well on the krogan kits, because anything that can be knocked down with it is headbutt fodder anyway, but I can see it being useful on the BF3.  I might respec him to use 5a eventually.

 

Carnage's prime is really short, probably around 1-2 seconds I'd say from experience.  No FE's for this build unfortunately. :(

Hmm that looks like a mixture of my build and your striker KroSol.

 

I'll watch it properly later, but it looks like it plays a little like what I had in mind.

Just ran a few matches with a 64646 build.

 

It is fun to be able to detonate explosions with Carnage... I was using an Eviscerator with Smart Choke + Omniblade and AP ammo.... might have to ditch the choke for the shredder mod and use a different ammo for more detonating pleasure.
