Massively, you'd make a good officer in the Imperial Navy. And that's a compliment.

You can call in an MLRS or Strike Eagle to deal with a building the bad guys are holed up in, or you can send in soldiers in a high-risk attempt to clear it out room by room. Watch out for door charges and other booby traps.

I can understand the reservations about dealing with civilians completely, but it has to be acknowledged that these civilians often put themselves in harm's way. I read Mark Bowden's "Black Hawk Down." According to one of the rangers, at one point a Somali with an AK variant was lying belly-down in the street with a woman and three kids sitting on his back as voluntary human shields. He shot them, because it was either that or let the guy keep shooting at him and his squad.

Traumatizing? **** yes. Alternatives?...

See also the Palestinian tactic of herding civilians into buildings the Israelis have announced they are going to destroy.

If it's a choice between a mother and her children and my guys, we're going to save our own every time.

Read the story about some of the Marine Snipers in Fallujah. They're super-freaky. It's not unheard of: I was in the Korangal Valley from June of 2007 to March of 2008. Read up on it. CNN called it the deadliest place on Earth. There were points where we were told to eye all non-Coalition personnel as hostiles at some points. We got stung more than once when we found out the COBs were supporting the Taliban.

And I'll take it as such; I think the Empire under Thrawn, Pellaeon, and the Fel Dynasty was one of the finest institutions ever imagined, real or fictional.

I agree there, at least under the Fel. But one thing I wanna clarify, the Fel Dynasty was the descendants of Jaina and Jagged, right?

I'm not going to defend the terrorists, their actions are obviously absolutely wrong, but most of the anti-American sentiment in the Middle East stems from aggressive American actions in the Middle East. The US invades foreign countries, they strike back, the US hits even harder ad infinitum. It's a vicious cycle and ultimately the US goverment is mostly to blame for starting it. Although the insurgents are at fault too of course, it's a grey vs gray conflict.
Killing civilians deliberately is a clear crime though. Murder is murder, no matter what the murderer is wearing. I'm not arguing from a moral standpoint, but from a judicial one.

Agrred! Some people don't understand this as the core problem. I mostly play paragende, but even I see, this as a factor in the insurgents motives . Hell, osmsa even said this was factor in his attacks on 9/11 but people gloss over that and assume it because they hate our "freedom". I mean what little we have...

Well, it seems like Jaina will still exist, but Jacen is gone. One of those guys who were cast looks a big like Jagged. So I'm hopeful.

How come?

Thrawn had a system of high central order and meritocracy, where everyone was to contribute to the state in a meaningful way. They were afforded each to the needs they had, and given the opportunity of advancement with more luxurious benefits. They of course had to compete within the system, but under Thrawn, who had the power to ensure that power and political games were minimized, the competition worked to the benefit of the state, increasing the resources to allocate to the people, thus providing more growth and capability to grow. Pellaeon tried his damndest to follow suit, but didn't have Thrawn's unifying presence and had to contend with the Moffs. Fel was the same, with a strong, centralized, singular power vested into one ruler who held reign over the dealings of the Empire. Of course, once the Sith gained control, this ended.

Yeah, although I do think that Al Quaeda generally has different reasons (power) for their evil actions.

Not a Star Wars fan, but the Empire wins simply because of their style.

If it's a choice between a mother and her children and my guys, we're going to save our own every time.

Yep. While regrettable, I don't judge that ranger for what he had to do.

On topic, I don't judge the Geth for targeting armed civilian ships firing at them either - when I have to justify my choice to EDI (in my canon run, anyway), it's on account of their having sided with the Reapers (since I can't invoke the Reaper code specifically), not because the Quarians had civilians. That said, the Quarian civilians are not voluntary "human" shields; we've discussed fleet logistics before. Could re-hash it, but... bleh.

If the Quarians died as a byproduct of Destroy, I'd still choose it, even if my canon Talimancing Shepard would be a suicidal wreck afterwards.

I'll have to do that.

4. A lot of the things stated here could be explained here.

Legion can be immune to reaper control because he can operate individually, therefore not be infected. The geth fighters I suppose are far away from the signals proximity radius? I remember in ME2 legion saying that infection needs some time to get it going on all geth, perhaps days. I don't know about my english here, but escape pods=/=transportation. Reaper upgrades must be code, since they can be stored onto geth, the signal just broadcasts code. Tali might have the schematics from the UNC: Geth incursions? I don't think they do have pods specifically for humans, they just got the data from overlord which allows the mind of an organic to enter their consensus. How would an organic enter without geth assistance? In their mind, they are all the same, legion is an individual, they were not suspicious or something. Legion dying might have something to do with him being an individual platform again? I really don't know about that one.

3. Disagree, in all games the quarians are the race that tried to commit genocide, while the geth were actively under sovereign's indoctrination, unable to respond due to their primitive AI status, much like humans fought for gods thousand years ago.

2. Debatable, although I agree for the most part, with the Geth's reduced intelligence along with the fact that they already separated, nothing could stop them from separating again. Although one can say they should have learned. I don't like it either, but we have to 1417543.gif

1.Legion never says specifically they don't want individuality, but that it doubts Shepard for valuing it so much. If i recall correctly, Legion and the other geth want the reapers code, so that they can evolve to full AI , so that they don't have to be together in order to be self-aware, aka maintain their AI status.

Geth want the reaper code as well as independence, which means no control from the reapers. The fact that a geth could individually make choices etc of its own (early legion) doesn't mean they loose their togetherness, they are all still on the same network and know each other 100%. Like having human brains connected to each other.

You can smack, smash, hammer, bang, and thrash the Empire. But always remember, the mistake that fools throughout history always made.

You may win the occasional battle against them, but the Empire will always strike back.

Real history isn't written by an unimaginative scrub who can't come up with legitimate alternative enemies-of-the-week for the heroes to fight.

"Survival-by-authorial-incompetence" isn't really the sort of thing that I would tout if I decided to fangirl out about something fictional.

Hamas doesn't heard people in too buildings thats a propaganda tool used by the Israelis to justify them bombing schools and news stations. This is a fact the iserailis targeted Al Jarzera news buildings and Russia today because they where reporting what they were doing during Operation Caste lead. That's against all known treaties, I'm a know it all so forgive me. So no mention of Iseral using human shields where they tie children to the military vechicals great deimon that great you paint the palastine people as the bad guy. The Geth-Qurians war is just like the iseraili -Palastine war morally grey.
