I'm certain that whatever the Dragon Age writers came up with will be 10x better than anything I or anyone could think of at this moment.

I'd like to see Sandal's prophesy about magic come true. If that were true we would have multiclass options in DA IV.

How about I start with "ideal beginning" first? I haven't even played yet.

Whats is your ideal ending, I want to hear it no matter how silly, crazy, detailed, fan-like, etc might sound, Edit: Though do try to be a bit serious about how you actually imagine it in your mind.

Inquisitor saves the world, stops whoever it is opening hole in the Fade.  Orlais civil war ends.  Mage/Templar situation, while not fixed, is generally better than before.

The Inquisitor then goes off to, at the player's option:

Keep running the Inquisition

Leave the Inquisition to go do more adventuring elsewhere

Retire om peace

Any of which are accompanied by the LI, if there is one.

In other words "Get the job done and go home"

Everybody dies.

I actually don't really have one. Dragon Age hasn't gone for the hugely epic galaxy-spanning threat thing much, so I wouldn't think a sacrifice would be necessary (not necessarily, anyway) like it was in ME.

dammit, you beat me to it.

anyways, i can see it with us (meaning the inquisitor) having to go back into the fade to close the breach....  closing it  sealing him/herself inside the fade.  As that happens and cass crys over the loss of her lover cannon fire is heard in the background... the party turns and looks over a cliff behind them to see the orlesian navy getting demolished by qunari dreadnaughts with a dragon or two flying in the background...  then again i doubt the qunari would go straight for orlais to begin with....  i think they would destroy tevinter, antiva, then work their way down to the marches then to orlais

I have already written my perfect ending, when Shaen (the Tal-Vashoth Inquisitor) leaves to the Fade with Cole, or maybe beyond the Fade. As for the world, the demons are no longer there and everyone is happy. Maybe Shaen is happy too. feeding little dragons with cookies and having long conversations with Cole out there somewhere...

Oh and Varric totally wrote a story about her. Talking to empty spaces and such.

Like with all previous BioWare games, I'm doing my best to keep my expectations for the end-game blank.

As in, the what that I am expecting. The specifics. I fully expect to enjoy whatever any part of the narrative will be, but I view letting my imagination run loose for the possibilities to be equivalent to setting myself up for disappointment. And besides, I know with absolute certainty, which I base on that I am by no means a writer at all, that BioWare's writers, even if they dream up different scenarios than I might, they'll still do it significantly better than I could even dream.

I know what I don't want. I don't want Casper forcing my Inquisitor to die just because we need "drama". <_< and  a Huey, Dewey e Louie ending.

I'm fine with a chance to have the protagonist sacrifice himself. But I don't want it to be forced and ineluctable. I can cry with the death of a companion or the LI instead (see DAO) or with everyone surviving.

in the end: if it not force me to sacrifice my character and her companions, and give me closure for the most important decisions/characters, I'm fine with (almost) everything.

But I must admit I find myself shed tears only for the happy endings  :P

I'd like the ending to just be a black screen with some text like this:

YOU'RE DEAD.

YOUR FRIENDS ARE DEAD.

YOUR FAMILY IS DEAD.

THE INQUISITION IS DONE FOR.

YOUR MABARI IS BEING SKINNED ALIVE.

THEDAS IS NOW A SMOKING CRATER.

YOU SUCKED IN LIFE.

YOU SUCK IN DEATH.

I HOPE THE MAKER LAUGHS AT YOU AS MUCH AS I DO.

CONGLATURATIONS.

THANKS FOR PLAYING...IDIOT. (and buy moar DLC)

Yeah, that'll be a perfect ending for me right there. ^_^

ME2 ending will do.

So a very very obvious "BUY THE NEXT GAME" ending cutscene? Huh.

Well, Halo 2 did it I guess and that game was popular...

After saving the day, the Inquisitor turns into a dragon and flies off into the sunset, with the LI on his/her back.

Kind of hoping for a rousing musical number, personally.

I blow stuff up or something and it destroys all gunpowder and gun-like stuff so DA is never poisoned by gun-play.

Dramatically defeat the forces of evil and seal the fade, this results in a massive explosion that hurls you off the mountain top and on to the beach below.

As your companions, rush towards you, your hand is glowing with fade magic, it begins to flicker then peppers out in stops and starts before vanishing completely.

your companions rush towards you and realise your dead..... The screen fades to black and you wake in the fade before you is flemeth her little hut from origins has been recreated.

"you have done much inquistor saved the world united kingdoms, but such deeds do not go unpunished everything has a cost, in this closing the breaching cost your very life you died so that..others may live, how very?........noble!"

"sadly the fade is no place for the soul's of thedas it's time for you to move on *a bright light suddenly shines* the choice is yours inquistor, remain in the fade you can create anything you can imagine, houses? Riches....lovers? Atleast for a time eventually lose more and more of yourself until you become just another fade entity or even a demon or......you can walk into the the light."

"These are the choices most mortals are offered, but if there was another way?........you still have the ability to open and close the fade at will, so i will offer you that which mortals covert most."

"hold out your hand, relinquish that power to me and I will restore your life Inquisitor, you can go back to the land of the living live out a long and happy life or pass on, your perhaps you think you can hold onto yourself here in the fade and livestock all your fantasies.. Or there is of course the light."

"but that light will not stay open forever and I have....other things to......attend to. Make your choice, Life?, The light? Or the Fade?"

*at this point you can ask a bunch of questions including about the light and flemeth but she won't give you answer as to what she is or what's beyond the light, atleast none that explains it*

So you have your choice
A) the light
B) the fade
C) flemeth deal.
.......... But in your questions you discover a 4th choice, you can reopen the breach reclaim your body and flemeth can do anything to stop it, you can live again and not surrender such power. To flemeth.
And so
A) you simply vanish into the light and are never heard of again
B) epilogue slides corresponde with your love interest being visited by you every night in their dreams, for a time.........
C) you return to life, everyone is happy etc etc. Before morigan narrates and "so the inquistor lived happily ever after.....but at what cost"
D) you re-open the breach you body is sucked in once again, all your companions die in the blast and you re-emerge from the fade in your body, riding a dragon at the head of a demon army.

Hmm, how about my inquisitor, champion, and warden, together with their LIs, fly off on a dragon as they go on to their next joined adventure?

I liked the feel of ME1. At first it seems that you have sacrificed all, but then you rise, triumphant, from the rubble. That moment still gets to me, and I've played that game well over a dozen times. But ME1 was a much more idealistic game than the other MEs or any of the DAs. I can't really see that working for DAI. Anything that can recreate even half that feeling of triumph is good in my books.

The best ending IMO would be in the spirit of Origins. While I'd prefer full blown cutscenes, I wouldn't mind the whole still picture with a *narrated* explanation of what resulted from various plot points. They should include what all your companions got up to as well though, and of course allude to what may be coming in future games.

Bottom line, give me closure.
