I have been running this setup for my Cabal lately, and good lord is she overpowered. As in, I run so fast and charge so often that I can run into 8 enemies at once and come out without any health damage at all. The thing I don't get is, why do so many people diss on the Poison Strike? It is, bar none, the best non-grenade combo detonator in the game. Charge the acolyte while you're Striking, spin around, shoot, strike, repeat.

 

A few notes:

 

• I don't have Nightshade Blades specced because I found myself hardly ever using them. In the few situations where I DID use them, it was in locations where there were more than 4 enemies at once, and almost invariably some idiot immediately nuked them all. Scrubs, man, scrubs.
• I'm not entirely sure what ammo type to use. I like using Cryo ammo because of the pretty glass breaking noises it makes, but it didn't seem to freeze things very often. Disruptor is also nice but I hear that screws up peoples biotic booms.
• I always have Biotic Focus running. Always.
• How the heck do you deal with guardians when you dont have AP ammo or a power you can get around your shields? They're ridiculously annoying. I would rather fight 4 phantoms than 4 guardians any day with this setup.

 

 

Anyway, yeah, she's basically the tankiest class I know of. I can literally run straight at a gold turret with her and not die. She crazy.

 

P.S. If you don't host, you're in for incredible, mind-altering pain. This is your only warning.

Yeah. That's a bit lacking in the stopping power department.

 

You can detonate one fire explosion on a boss, woopdie doo. That acolyte won't take out much more than that afterwards though. Unless you're planning on clawing everything, you don't kill stuff fast enough to make your durability great enough without becoming the gingerbread man and running away alot.

 

Which is kind of fun until you run into freshly spawned units which you wouldn't have encountered if you just finished the wave off faster.

 

To each their own. You probably have a different way of playing than me, which I don't quite get, so I respect you and your build even though I know it's not for me.

If you have never played Cabal, try it on a lower difficulty first. It's all about the wallbangz.

 

Her dodge has stupidly low barrier costs with it and you can go some pretty serious distance meaning that if you run into some enemies and have the map awareness, dropping damage and getting a wall between you is easy as pie and more effective than the Slayer (can't speak for Fury). Damage mitigation with Biotic Focus and the ability to stagger with nightshade blades mean that weapon platforming is still pretty fun when you avoid PS. If you do take PS and drop Fitness you can do some fun stuff charging through enemies and through walls for the perfect set of hit and runs...

 

It's all about the power synergy and dat dodge.

No no, you misunderstand completely; this build is based around Poison Striking EVERYTHING. With double strike and a 2.4 second cooldown, you can put out around 4000 damage every 2.4 seconds, enough to kill almost any mook enemy. Then you add the Acolyte damage to that; charge your Acolyte, fire the moment before you charge, disabling their shields in one hit before you fly over them, simultaneously poisoning them and detonating your explosion. As you were poison striking, you've been charging the acolyte again; you spin around and repeat the process, assuming it's not dead yet.

 

Except every mook enemy there is will be killed by just one poison strike, either by the initial damage or shortly afterward from the 1.2k poison DoT.

 

Bosses are obviously a lot harder, since they've got so much more health. But with the extended poison damage, you're still doing something like 4400 damage every 2.4 seconds, plus an additional thousand from the pistol, plus another 500-1000 from the combo detonations. 

I mean, it's no snap cheese Paladin or TGI, but it still is VERY effective at what it does.

 

And, of course, because you're using your Poison Strike so often, you're utterly invincible roughly half the game. 

 

And best of all? It's very, very fun

Ok.. I can fully reply now. Glad to see you extolling the virtues of Poison Strike.. bc it is awesome. Folks who spec out of it don't know what they're missing.

Your build: You can take fitness to 4 bc Biotic Focus is your shield recharge rate. This will give you points to put into Nightshade Blades.. and if you take Poison Strike to rank 4 you can max them. They're worth maxing IMO bc they rape spawns hard.. and you sorely need some type of anti-armor sidearm if you ever hope to take that to Gold/Plat.

Anyway.. food for thought. Not a bad build.. just a tad incomplete.

I think you've answered your own questions here.

The key word is 'hosting'. Hosting is an ultra-rare gear that only 1 player could use at any one time in a game. Cabal is just too lag/host dependent to be any good for me.

Cabal is the easiest character to bring to plat, except the winfiltrators. Just take a heavy weapon and spam BF and walk away a winner.

I can get 150k with a no HM build GE. Doesn't make it a good build.

The cabal has for me a steep learning curve. I have tried similar builds, but I just can't quite seem to pull it off. Most of my problems stem from the fact that I rarely host.

I used Lancer but after a couple of waves I realized I would like a shotgun better, probably a Wraith.

Hmmm.  I like the shield evo at 6 on Focus.  Also I tend to prefer a good gun to take advantage of Turian passives.  Or Phaeston / Talon for max Nyreen mode engaged.
