Actually, from... Well, years of experience, I am convinced that I-frames and work very buggily when one's shield/healthgated. That would be enough to explain a lot of charge glitches and the fact that BF doesn't seem to work for me half the times when I really need it...

Well like a lot of things in this game it can be buggy definitely. I wasn't saying that the 0.5 invulnerability can last you through the shieldgate cooldown. Just that the invulnerability, when timed right and under the right circumstances can save your life long enough for the cooldown to be over.

Yeah I know, and I agree. It's just that sometimes when you're healthgated the I-frame won't work and you'll drop like a fly regardless, in my experience :P

Oh yeah definitely. I-frames can be kinda iffy. Yesterday I was sync killed by a phantom despite using an ops pack beforehand. First time that trick has ever failed.

I like your build, it is good for gold where you can take out most shielded mooks with a charged acolyte shot + PS combo. You should do your best though to ignore bosses.

You are using the ammo I would use, i.e. incediary.

I would use the Tempest + HVB as secondary vs. guardians, switch to hurricane/CSMG/BPP once you got them high enough.

I think the main problem is that you did not specifie the level of your build, i.e. gold. On plat this build is weak with the acolyte as your only weapon.

ps. feel free to add me, we can play cabal together, I like her too.

It's on PC, where scores, credits and unlocks are meaningless.

Also, that's her second account. Original PS3 account is here: http://social.biowar...mv&platform=ps3

I used to play cabal with maxed PS with double strike, and it was great fun when it worked. Problem was that it failed to work an annoying amount of the time. Far too often I'd try to charge through a pack and get stuck, even when there was nothing behind them. I think the logic for figuring if you're in a legal place to charge is screwy, more so on some maps than others. (All this was on my host, so lag wasn't the issue.)

It's my third actually. I trolled on ps3 for a while with a second account.

I appreciated it all the same.

...

The problem with this build is that the PS mechanics mean you don't damage anyone any further than the 6b short dash anyway. If you're just using it for mobility that's fine, but I like to use it for damage so it doesn't work as well for me :P

...

Incorrect.  The damage cone for PS is only the first ~three meters of the Strike regardless of which dash evolution you take.  22.5, 15, or 7.5 meters doesn't matter.  Think of it as the opposite of Biotic Charge.

...

I'd also agree with Deerber. In my experience Biotic Focus will actually reset your shield gate off host and perhaps even on host.

Yeah, exactly. I actually prefer to think of it as an explosion detonated about one meter in front of your character with a 5 meter radius or so. Either way, it means that extra distance on your Poison Strike=/=extra distance on its damage. Range upgrades are, therefore, only good for increased mobility, not for damage utility.

If you're just using poison strike as a glorified dodge teleport it doesn't matter as much, but when you're using it as your primary damage source, as in my build, it basically becomes a trade of damage for extraneous gains, one I don't think is worth it.

I think you've answered your own questions here.

The key word is 'hosting'. Hosting is an ultra-rare gear that only 1 player could use at any one time in a game. Cabal is just too lag/host dependent to be any good for me.

Is this why I Poison Strike an Atlas and end up getting shot in the back of the head before my feet even touch the ground on the other side?

Have to agree with Becky that the build is a little wacky. IMO, you are wasting passives on Power Damage thinking that it will significantly buff your PS damage. Not really.... you would be served far better with the Turian weapon passives, particularly the 30% headshot bonus.

PS is great in situations, but if you are using it as a detonator of combos, again your passive power boost is not helping you all that much since power combos do not get a buff from passives.

She is hard to kill though, regardless. So fast, great dodge, great weapon damage, Nightshade Nukes.

With an acolyte? It is an acolyte build.

Also, she(?) is using the passives to boost the PS damage and the DOT; not the combo damage.

Acolyte build.... ah, well that explains part of it.

Still not sold on the benefit for the passive bonus to DOT and initial damage, but I would have to look at the numbers more closely.

Acolyte....

I played some games with her this afternoon.  I either managed to prove that the hypothesis in the title needs tweaking, or I just don't know how turn on the invulnerability.  I mainly need to figure out how to get PS to work worth a damn (off host that is).

I do too.. but I really love lots of host dependant or host-optimal kits/weapons like Vanguards, Kishock, etc. I know my host is sound so the pugs still do fine.

Yeah, it's on the Sentinel.

Now we need a Drell Sentinel with TA, BF, and cluster grenades.

I was simply stunned at the image of Deerber implying that they might have played another kit than Drell....

I prefer my wall hax sniping through walls build, with the option to poison strike through walls and melee it out. :)

I don't like the look of the build, but I'll give it a go.

Lol. I do play a lot of other kits. Actually, nowadays I don't even play Drell that much anymore. It kinda ruins the fun for everyone else I think, when they don't find anything to shoot XD I haven't played the DrellGod in like... Forever. I play the adept from time to time, but only when I'm in a lobby of bsner and I see they're going biotics. Then I'll bring my cluster detonators ;)

So regarding the Cabal, how or when does one get the most out of biotic focus?

Because I play this class with an adrenaline mod and feel that speed and mobility is pretty important to survival I 'm not getting the most out of Focus because I'm too busy zipping around at a fast pace.  This last build I have not specc'd into nightshade blades at all.  Is the general rule of thumb to hit focus just before charging up and using poison strike?

I would suggest anytime you want to regen shields and don't need the CD for Poison Strike.
